How to use the Wildcard chip in World cup fantasy?

  • Once matchday 1 ends and before matchday 2 begins activate your wildcard and set your best team for matchday 2.
  • Once matchday 2 begins look for team news and line-ups, actively make transfers between two unlocked players(players who haven’t played yet) based on lineups, and maximize your points for matchday 2. For ex: You have Sane in your MD2 wildcard and when Germany playing 11 comes out you see he’s not starting then you can swap him out for another Germany attacker(Musiala/Gnarby/Gundogan) or other players who have not played yet in MD2 and get their points for MD2
  • Secondly, once your player has played their status becomes locked. Now you can use the unlimited transfers to bring in players for MD3. This way you can build your team for MD3 as well using unlimited transfers. For ex: You have Kane for MD2, and once England finishes playing in MD2 his points will be locked in your MD2 team, you can then remove him for Mbappe using the unlimited transfers. Mbappe will be part of your MD3 team and earn points in MD3 when they play Tunisia.
  • By following the above steps, you can utilize the wildcard to build a team for MD2 and MD3.
  • Remember if you transfer out a player already locked, you’ll still have his points for that matchday and the player you bring in will score you points only in the next matchday.

World Cup Fantasy MD2 Wildcard Draft 1:

World Cup Fantasy MD2 Wildcard Draft 1:
  • Minimal spending on goalkeepers with Gonda($4 Mil) against Costa Rica who registered an xG of 0 against Spain which shows how bad their attack is at the moment. Rochet is the other safe 4.0 Million backup option as the second GK choice, although his fixture against Portugal is not ideal he’s in just as a backup if in case Japan lose their clean sheet against Costa Rica.
  • Senegal’s defence was solid and were unlucky to lose 2-0 to the Netherlands in MD1. There are a lot of budget option to consider from Senegal including Cisse at 4.5 Million and Sabaly at 4.0 Million. They are up against Qatar who registered an xG of only 0.35 against Ecuador in matchday 1 failing to have a shot on target the whole game. Sabaly had two attempts on goal and one on target vs Netherlands in MD1.
  • Dumfries and Shaw are the two premium defenders in the above draft and the duo offers both attacking and defensive returns. Shaw registered an assist against Iran and Dumfries kept a clean sheet against Senegal.
  • Cash and Sosa offer immense value coming in at 4.0 Million and 3.5 Million respectively. Both of them kept a CS in MD1 and surely have the fixtures to return again in MD2.
  • Saka was one of the five players to score a brace in matchday 1 at the time of writing and is in red hot form. England play USA in MD2 who looked shaky against Wales in MD1, Surely the attacking strength of England would mean they’ll create a lot of goal-scoring chances.

  • A lot of managers will go for Saka which means a double-up on England’s attack could be the best way to gain ranks. Kane who registered two assists against Iran is another good option to consider now that he’s been cleared fit following an injury scare.
  • Argentina faced a shock 2-1 defeat to Saudi Arabia but I fully expect them to bounce back strongly against Mexico in MD2. The pair of Messi and Di Maria didn’t set the stage on fire with Messi registering only one goal in MD1 and Di Maria blanking but the duo should come good in MD2 surely.
  • Kamada is the Japanese attacker to target the poor Costa Rica defence, he’s the most nailed amongst all Japan attackers, and even though he didn’t score or assist in MD1, he is still a good shout considering he plays the role of an attacking midfielder. Kamada was one of the key players in Qualifiers with 3 goals, 2 assists from 8 games. Kamada is nailed to be on corner duty as he took all the 6 corners in MD1 vs Germany. If you’re bold you can also go for Asano who came in from the bench and scored the winner.
Asano had the joint-highest attempts on goal in the Germany vs Japan game even though he played only 42 minutes

  • Tadic was involved in 8 goals in 8 games during the WC Qualifiers for Serbia and is a great option to consider from the Serbian attack. His heatmap from the WC Qualifiers below.

Pros & Cons of the draft:

Pros: Good mix of England and Argentina players in the draft
Cons: Lack of good midfield options, Savic, and Tadic could be easily upgraded to other options

Neymar Injury Update:

Note: Neymar went off with an ankle injury with photos emerging of his badly swollen ankle, keep an eye on his injury news. If you wildcard you can swap him out using unlimited transfers if in case he’s out injured. If you’re not wildcarding then you can use a free transfer to either get him in after confirming he’s starting or move him out incase he doesn’t start!

World Cup Fantasy MD2 Wildcard Draft 2:

  • Dahmen kept a clean sheet against a quality team like Denmark in Matchday 1. He made 5 saves which helped Tunisia finish the game at 0-0. Up against Australia in Matchday 2 who have less attacking potential compared to Denmark, there is likely to be another clean sheet for Tunisia. He plays before Gonda as well and could easily be swapped to Gonda if Tunisia lose their clean sheet.
  • Theo Hernandez was brilliant for France and had 3 penalty box touches, 2 attempts on goal and one shot on target against Australia in MD1. Although not earth-shattering numbers, he’s a shrewd pick for MD2.

  • Belgium didn’t have a great game against Canada but still, KDB picked up the man of the match award that’s the quality of the start midfielder. De Bruyne has been the savior for this team often with 25 goals, 46 assists from 95 games for Belgium. With most set pieces also on De Bruyne, he is our Premium pick in midfield.
  • Bellingham is another good option to consider from the England midfielder, the young sensation offers points through goals, tackles and key passes. The chances of him returning a low score is really less. A very safe option to consider!

Pros & Cons of the draft:

Pros: Good mix of England and Argentina players in the draft
Cons: Faith in KDB could go wrong considering Morocco were solid in defence

World Cup Fantasy MD2 Wildcard Draft 3:

  • No Neymar draft with Richarlison the only Brazilian attacker, he’s in fine form scoring two brilliant goals vs Serbia who were solid defensively. Richarlison scored 2 goals from 3 penalty box touches, 3 shots on goal, 2 shots on target, and one big chance.
  • Mbappe had the highest penalty area touches(19) amongst all players in MD1 with a whopping 7 attempts on goal and three big chances. Although Denmark are stronger opponents Mbappe will definitely look to continue his goal-scoring form.

  • Bruno Fernandes put on a brilliant show for Portugal creating three chances including two big chances which resulted in two assists for Bruno.

  • A lot more differential draft with Kudus, Zielinski, Castagne, Modric, and Depay.

World Cup Fantasy MD2 Wildcard Draft 5:

  • Vinicius Junior created four chances including one assist, he also had four shots on goal including one on target which shows he has both goal-scoring and assist potential. Now that there are doubts around Neymar, Vini could be an excellent alternative.

Other good options to consider on your WC Fantasy MD2 Wildcard team:

Sarr, Depay, Perisic, Richarlison, Alisson, Asano, Blind, and Trippier
