All Premier League Teams Predicted GW3 Lineups

Arsenal

Another convincing performance in GW2 from Arsenal suggests that they should go in with the same 11 for the third consecutive game. Despite Tierney and Tomiyasu returning from injury, Arteta will probably stick with the same 11 due to how well they’ve played in the first two games. Smith Rowe, Vieira and Cedric are back fit, played the under-21s game, will be in the squad but would be too much to make the starting 11.

Last week’s success rate: 11/11 (We predicted all 11 starters correctly last week)

Arsenal GW3 Predicted formation:

  • 4-3-3

Arsenal GW3 Predicted lineup:

Ramsdale

White – Saliba – Gabriel – Zinchenko

Xhaka – Partey – Odegaard

Saka – Jesus – Martinelli

Aston Villa

The headline news for Villa is that Diego Carlos tore his Achilles in their 2-1 victory over Everton. As such, Ezri Konsa, after dropping out in GW2, should come back into the side alongside Mings. Incidentally at £4.5M, either could become options once Villa’s fixtures improve, seeing as Carlos will likely be out for months.

Further forward, Ollie Watkins came in for Leon Bailey for the Everton game. Two assists for him suggest he should retain his place as should Ings who scored the first. Emi Buendia also performed well when he came on so I’d expect him to be rewarded with a start at the expense of Coutinho who was once more ineffective.

“Emi has been fantastic since the first day of pre-season, he had a little small injury that we had to really protect him from. We are delighted with him and he is pushing for a starting place.” – Steven Gerrard when asked if Emi Buendia is challenging for a start

Last week’s success rate: 9/11 (We predicted 9 starters correctly last week)

Aston Villa GW3 Predicted Formation

  • 4-3-1-2

Aston Villa GW3 Predicted Lineup:

Ings – Watkins

Bournemouth

As if their task against City wasn’t tough enough already, Bournemouth were without both Dominic Solanke and Jordan Zemura due to an ankle injury and covid respectively. We can assume that both will be back, although there is more uncertainty around Solanke at the time of writing due to no update on his situation until now. If Solanke is out, Ryan Christie will probably start in his place again.

Bournemouth also opted for a back three against Man City, with Jefferson Lerma dropping in alongside Mepham and Kelly. I’d expect them to adopt this formation against Arsenal. However, new signing Marcos Senesi should come in at the expense of Mepham.

Travers; Mepham, Lerma, Kelly; Smith, Cook, Pearson, Stacey; Tavernier, Christie; Moore.

Last week’s success rate: 8/11 (We predicted 8 starters correctly last week)

Bournemouth GW3 Predicted formation

  • 3-4-3

Bournemouth GW3 Predicted lineup:

Travers

Lerma – Sensei – Kelly

Smith – Pearson – Billing – Zemura

Moore – Solanke – Marcus Tavernier

Injury updates: Solanke faces a late fitness test, and Zemura is back from COVID. New signing Sensei should make his debut.

Brighton

In what is a bit of a rarity, Graham Potter opted to select an unchanged 11. With another positive showing castle despite the result suggests that they may stick for the same 11 for their contest with West Ham in GW3.

Last week’s success rate: 9/11 (We predicted 9 starters correctly last week)

Brighton GW3 Predicted formation

  • 3-4-1-2

Brighton GW3 Predicted lineup:

Sanchez

Veltman – Webster – Dunk

March – MacAllister – Lallana – Trossard,

Gross – Caicedo

Welbeck

Brentford

Thomas Frank opted to play a back 3 against Man United in GW2. It’s fair to say that worked well, so we can expect them to stick with the same for Fulham in GW3. Josh Da silva came into the side and scored so he should keep his place.

Frank confirmed Ajer and Canos are still out for this week and New signing Damsgaard won’t start but could feature from the bench.

Last week’s success rate: 9/11 (We predicted 9 starters correctly last week)

Brentford GW3 Predicted formation:

  • 3-4-1-2

Brentford GW3 Predicted lineup:

Raya

Roerslev – Jansson – Mee

Hickey – Norgard – Jensen – Henry

Dasilva

Mbeumo – Toney

Chelsea

As expected, Reece James started as the right centre-back against Tottenham. However, playing an easier opposition in Leeds should mean that he plays as the right wing-back which makes him far more appealing for FPL.

Kante will be out for several weeks as per Tuchel. Loftus Cheek will take out his place in midfield with Kovacic also still out.

“I would say if we play a back four, they are competing for the same place. If we play a back five, not 100 per cent because I think that Ben is a clear wing-back and Marc is both, he can play in a back three and as a wing-back.” – Thomas Tuchel on Ben Chilwell/Marc Cucurella

This was an interesting quote from Tuchel on the Cucurella/Chilwell situation leaving it to our own interpretation. We still feel Cucurella will start as LWB in GW3 due to lack of match fitness of Chilwell.

I’d also expect Azpi to come back into the side after sitting the Tottenham game out.

Last week’s success rate: 9/11 (We predicted 9 starters correctly last week)

Chelsea GW3 Predicted formation:

  • 3-4-1-2

Chelsea GW3 Predicted lineup:

Mendy,

Azpilicueta – Thiago Silva – Koulibaly

James – Loftus Cheek – Jorginho – Cucurella

Mount

Sterling – Havertz

Crystal Palace

Rather interestingly, Viera adopted a back three for the contest with Liverpool with Joel Ward coming into the back three. It’s difficult to say whether this will remain the case against Aston Villa. My instinct says that because it’s an in theory easier game on paper, I’d expect them to revert to the more conventional back 4.

Michael Olise came on after returning from injury so he may well start against Villa.

Last week’s success rate: 10/11 (We predicted 10 starters correctly last week)

Crystal Palace GW3 Predicted Formation

  • 4-3-3

Crystal Palace GW3 Predicted lineup:

Guaita

Clyne – Guehi – Anderson – Mitchell

Schlupp – Doucoure

Olise – Eze – Zaha

Edouard

Everton

The most notable aspect of Everton’s 2-1 defeat at Aston Villa was new signing Andray Onana’s impressive cameo. His brief showing should mean that he comes straight into the team as a starter. Injury to Doucoure may mean that Onana is a direct replacement for him. It is a close call between Onana and Davies for that slot, but we think Onana will get the nod.

Last week’s success rate: 11/11 (We predicted all 11 starters correctly last week)

Everton GW3 Predicted formation

  • 3-4-2-1

Everton GW3 Predicted lineup

Pickford

Holgate – Tarkowski – Coady

Paterson – Onana – Iwobi – Mykolenko

Gray – McNeil

Gordon

Fulham

Fulham went into their match against Wolves with an unchanged side to that which played Liverpool. Marco Silva confirmed that Fulham team news remain same as last week which means Pereira will be fit to feature despite coming off injured in GW2.

Although Bernd Leno and Issa Diop have both joined the club, good performances from Rodak and Ream should mean that they keep their places for now at least.

Last week’s success rate: 9/11 (We predicted 9 starters correctly last week)

Fulham GW3 Predicted formation:

  • 4-2-3-1

Fulham GW3 Predicted lineup:

Rodak

Tete -Tosin – Ream – Robinson,

Palhinha – H Reed

B Reid – Andreas – Kebano

Mitrovic

Leeds United

Just two games after returning to action, Patrick Bamford sustained another injury. However, Jessie Marsh confirmed in post match that it wasn’t serious and he was only taken off as a precaution. If Bamford is out, Dan James will probably come in for him, with Rodrigo playing as the central striker. If not Leeds should remain unchanged from their last match.

Jesse Marsch’s comments on Bamford in the press conference ahead of GW3

“I would say it’s probably a decision that we’ll be ready to make tomorrow [on Bamford]. We know we can’t risk him and that we don’t want him to pick up further injury. But he’s feeling good, he’s looking good. So let’s see. [Taking him off] was a precaution and then it’s just being precautionary with him in general. We know after having almost missed an entire season that we just have to be really intelligent with how we manage everything. So we’ll be prepared if he’s ready to go and if he’s not.

“If it’s not Sunday [for Cooper] he’ll be ready very soon, the same with Patrick.”

It is a close call, but we feel like early in the season he won’t be risked. Bamford himself spoke in the Official Leeds United podcast and told he will “probably miss the Chelsea game“.

Last week’s success rate: 11/11 (We predicted all 11 starters correctly last week)

Leeds United GW3 Predicted formation:

  • 4-2-3-1

Leeds United GW3 Predicted lineup:

 Meslier

Kristensen – Llorente – Koch – Struijk

Adams, Roca,

James – Aaronson – Harrison

Rodrigo

Leicester City

Another 4 goals conceded against Arsenal means that there is serious cause for concern for Leicester’s defence. To make matters worse, they may well lose Fofana to Chelsea. If he’s gone by the weekend, Daniel Amartey should step into the centre of defence. As it stands though Fofana is still a Leicester player.

Besides this, Harvey Barnes is back in training and available for selection as confirmed by Rodgers.

Last week’s success rate: 11/11 (We predicted all 11 starters correctly last week)

Leicester City GW3 Predicted formation:

  • 4-3-3

Leicester City GW3 Predicted lineup:

Ward

Castagne – Amartey – Evans – Justin

Ndidi – Tielemans – Dewsbury-Hall,

Maddison – Vardy – Barnes

Liverpool

Having been given his first Premier League start in GW2, Darwin Nunez will find himself back out of the starting 11 after getting sent off against Crystal Palace. Roberto Firmino, who started in GW1, should come in for him.

In midfield, Harvey Elliott came in for the injured Thiago and Jordan Henderson was surprisingly left out for James Milner. Elliott should keep his place, but it’s very unlikely that Henderson will sit a second consecutive game out providing he isn’t injured.

Last week’s success rate: 8/11 (We predicted 8 starters correctly last week)

Liverpool GW3 Predicted formation

  • 4-3-3

Liverpool GW3 Predicted lineup:

Allison

Alexander Arnold – Van Dijk – Gomez – Robertson

Henderson – Fabinho – Eliott

Salah – Firmino – Diaz

Manchester City

Much to the surprise of many, Bernardo Silva was left out for both of Man City’s opening games for Ilkay Gundogan. With the latter scoring in the last match, he can be expected to retain his place.

Phil Foden was hooked early due to what many speculated was a failure on his part to find Haaland with a pass. Pep all but confirmed this in his post-match interview. But Foden is so important to this system that he should retain his place. Jack Grealish impressed when he came on so I’m predicting him to start ahead of Mahrez in GW3.

John Stones was also on the bench for the match against Bournemouth and he could push Ake to make his first start of the season against Newcastle. But we still feel Ake would keep his place after two fantastic performances.

Last week’s success rate: 10/11 (We predicted 10 starters correctly last week)

Manchester City GW3 Predicted formation

  • 4-2-3-1

Manchester City GW3 Predicted lineup:

Ederson

Walker – Dias – Ake – Cancelo,

Rodri – Gundogan,

Foden – De Bruyne – Grealish

Haaland

Manchester United

Following the disaster against Brentford, we can expect United to go into the Liverpool clash with a few changes. In spite of how much criticism it receives, the McFred pivot will probably be deployed, simply because it gives United more defensive security in theory than the alternatives. Other than that, I may have predicted Lesandro Martinez to be left out due to the potential match-up against Nunez, but a red card for the latter means that this may not be the case now.

Last week’s success rate: 11/11 (We predicted 11 starters correctly last week)

Manchester United GW3 Predicted formation:

  • 4-2-3-1

Manchester United GW3 Predicted lineup:

De Gea

Dalot – Martinez – Maguire – Shaw

Fred – McTominay

Rashford – Bruno – Sancho

Ronaldo

Newcastle United

Eddie Howe’s only change from Newcastle’s 2-0 victory against Nottingham Forest was that of Sven Botman coming in for Mat Targett with Dan burn going to left back. A positive showing from the new look back 4 should mean that this continues going forward. Howe also confirmed that a “late decision” will be made on Targett.

That aside, the team should remain the same.

Last week’s success rate: 10/11 (We predicted 10 starters correctly last week)

Newcastle United GW3 Predicted formation:

  • 4-3-3

Newcastle United GW3 Predicted lineup:

Pope

Trippier – Botman – Schar – Burn

Willock – Guimaraes – Joelinton

Almiron – Wilson – Saint-Maximin

Nottingham Forest

Due to the sheer number of players coming in, Forest are going to be one of the more difficult teams to predict week on week. That in mind, I’m sure there’ll be some wrong calls in here. Orel Mangala was handed his first start and he should be part of Forest’s midfield two going forward.

Moussa Niakhate limped out off the pitch and was absent in midweek training photos. Steve Cooper’s comment during the press conference was- “We will see” when asked if Niakhate will start. We expect the fit again Cook to replace him in defense.

Another new signing, Emmanuel Dennis, may also get his first start. With Brennan Johnson struggling in the first two fixtures, I wouldn’t be at all surprised if he was displaced by Dennis.

Last week’s success rate: 9/11 (We predicted 9 starters correctly last week)

Nottingham Forest GW3 Predicted formation:

  • 3-4-3

Nottingham Forest GW3 Predicted lineup

Henderson

Worrall – Cook – McKenna

Williams – O’Brien – Mangala – Toffolo

 Lingard -Johnson – Dennis

Injury updates: Yates and Cook are back from injury. Colback might miss out due to illness.

Southampton

Southampton are going to be very difficult to predict this week. Midway through the second half, they reverted to a 4-2-2-2 formation and it proved effective as they came back from 2 goals down to draw 2-2. Therefore, I’d expect them to play this formation in their next match against Leicester.

The biggest question is which centre-back will drop out. There’s a decent case to be made for any of the three but given that he was hooked in this match, Bednarek may be the one left out. A goal from Aribo and an assist from Mara both off the bench could mean that they come into the 11.

Last week’s success rate: 8/11 (We predicted 8 starters correctly last week)

Southampton GW3 Predicted formation

  • 4-2-2-2

Southampton GW3 Predicted lineup:

Bazunu

Walker-Peters – Bella-Kotchap – Salisu – Djenepo

Lavia – Ward Prowse

Aribo – Armstrong

Mara – Adams

Tottenham

As we predicted, Tottenham went into their clash with Chelsea with an unchanged side to that which beat Southampton, which meant that Emerson and Sessegnon once more started at wing-back. For the Wolves match, I’d expect Emerson to retain his place. Although Sessegnon hasn’t particularly done anything wrong, Perisic won’t have been brought in to warm the bench so he should start more games than not.

Romero is out so Sanchez should take his place.

Last week’s success rate: 11/11 (We predicted 11 starters correctly last week)

Spurs GW3 Predicted formation:

  • 3-4-3

Spurs GW3 Predicted lineup:

Lloris

Dier – Sanchez – Davies

Emerson – Bentancur -Hojbjerg – Sessegnon

Kulusevski – Son -Kane

PC/Injury updates: Romero is out and Conte hinted at another start for Sessegnon.

West Ham

Contrary to our prediction, Fabianski returned from injury in time to to play in GW2. This meant that West Ham went in to the match unchanged. Given their lack of goals in that game, one of Scamacca or Cornet, both named on the bench against Forest, could come in.

Scamacca played 67 minutes before being replaced by Antonio in the Europa League fixture. But in the post match interview, Moyes mentioned that Scamacca will eased into Premier League life “gradually”.

Last week’s success rate: 9/11 (We predicted 9 starters correctly last week)

West Ham GW3 Predicted Formation

  • 4-2-3-1

West Ham GW3 Predicted lineup:

Fabianski

Coufal – Zouma – Johnson – Cresswell

Rice – Soucek

Bowen – Fornals – Benrahma

Antonio

Wolves

Rather surprisingly, Guedes didn’t receive his first start against Fulham on the weekend. At the risk of getting it wrong again, I’m once more predicting him to start in place of Hwang.

Last week’s success rate: 10/11 (We predicted 10 starters correctly last week)

Wolves GW3 Predicted formation:

  • 4-3-3

Wolves GW3 Predicted lineup:

Sa

Jonny – Kilman – Collins – AitNouri

Neves – Dendonker – Moutinho

Podence – Guedes – Neto

As we said when predicting the GW2 lineups, there will definitely be some incorrect calls in here, however, we’ll always do our best job with the news we have.
