The European fixtures are over and the season continues to get weird and odd. Aston Villa vs Newcastle is postponed due to a COVID outbreak and players are continuing to get injured. This poses a huge challenge in weekly points tally and managers have to be wary of who starts and who doesn’t. This means one thing getting the captaincy decision is very crucial this week. So without further delay let’s look at FPL GW 11 captain picks to boost our points this week!
FPL GW 11 Captaincy poll
FPL GW 11 Captain picks
Dominic Calvert Lewin vs Burnley (A)
This man’s hot start to the season does not explain why Everton were so inspiring against Leeds, especially with Richarlison and James alongside him. But confidence in him is high again looking at Burnley’s record this year and they do not look like a defensive stronghold this year, unlike the previous year. His 10 goals and 1 assist is still very impressive and he will look to pad his stats more with this opportunity
Burnley are 19th in the table and have conceded 17 goals, with 5 of them coming in their last fixture against City. The odds are high on Everton to score a lot and we’re sure DCL will be involved in them.
DCL in numbers:
- No player has had more shots on target(18) in the league so far this season than Calvert-Lewin.
- DCL has scored 10 goals which is the highest in PL so far this season and is involved in 53% of Everton goals so far this season.

Kevin De Bruyne vs Fulham (H)
Last season’s highest points scorer didn’t start this season on the same form he started last year, but he pretty much showed why he’s City’s most important player though that doesn’t reflect in their numbers. The reason why he’s chosen over Mahrez is that a lot of the chances come through him and City’s biggest weakness has been the inability to finish these chances.
1 goal and 5 assists are nowhere near impressive, but his 2 assists in the game against Burnley and being rested against the Midweek game against Porto will ensure his start in the game against Fulham, a team who was defensively one of the poorest but improving nonetheless. City’s 5 goals against Burnley will give them the motivation to go after opponents the way they used to and we all should expect KDB to run the show.
KDB Numbers:
- KDB has registered the joint-most key passes and Big chances created (11 & 4) resulting in the second-best xA of 2.20.
- KDB has also had the third-most shots on goal over the last four weeks with only Bruno and Bamford taking more shots.
- Fulham have conceded the most goals(19) and the second most big chances(25) so far this season.

Jamie Vardy vs Sheffield United (A)
Jamie Vardy is more or less on the same boat as Dominic Calvert Lewin of Everton, in that both of them are scoring and are on good form but both their teams have had inconsistent results. Last season’s golden boot winner has had a good start, with 8 goals and 3 assists in 9 games he has played. While it is a great number, the team’s inconsistency in games is a bit concerning.
That concern now is lesser looking at the opponent. Sheffield were a wall in the back last season but they are in a big slump with just 1 point from 10 games. Sheffield have conceded 16 goals till now and aren’t looking like they’re improving and we can safely rely on Vardy to return good points.
Jamie Vardy in numbers
- Vardy has had the highest number of big chances(13) and xG(8.19) in the PL so far this season.
- Since GW6, Vardy has scored 3 goals and assisted three which is the highest goal contribution for a forward scoring 32 points which is also the highest amongst strikers.
- Sheffield United are the only team who have not kept a clean sheet so far this season.

Timo Werner vs Leeds United (H)
German International striker Timo Wener looks to have settled well into his new team and although he hasn’t yet replicated his form or numbers from Bundesliga, he’s looking good in the Chelsea team and has been involved in 7 goals, with 4 goals and 3 assists.
He’s also in charge of penalties at Chelsea and while he plays on the wing and not in the center, there’s a very good chance that the goals will come through him. Leeds play a famously high backline and concede a lot of goals, with 17 goals conceded in 10 games. Chelsea look to have gradually increased the number of goals scored in a game and hope Timo contributes to a few.
Werner stats:
- Werner averages 6.5pts per GW in the last 6 GW’s.
- 4 goals, 2 assists in the last 6 matches for the Chelsea forward.
- Up against Leeds who are not known to sit back and defend giving timo potentially lot of chances to score.

Sadio Mane vs Wolves (H)
Liverpool’s season has been quite interesting. From a plethora of injuries and COVID cases to their players and an embarrassing 7-2 loss to Villa, they are still tied for points at the top of the table. Offensively, the team has actually improved with players playing further forward and the addition of former Wolves player Jota being a regular contributor
Mane hasn’t been as prolific as his attack partner Salah, but having been off the bench last week, he’s rested well and a goal contribution is long pending from him. He almost created an impact in the 26 mins he played, only to be ruled off by VAR. With 4 goals and 3 assists, it’s not his greatest start to a season, but neither have Wolves had a great start and are defensively susceptible and we should all bank on Mane to contribute to the goals

Bruno Fernandes vs West Ham United (A)
There can’t be a captaincy blog without bruno in it. The Man Utd attacker has been in sensational form over the last couple of weeks and has been involved in almost all of United’s goals, such has been impact. Although he’s up against a defensively strong WHU side, Bruno and United will look to continue their impressive form with a win over hammers. What impresses the most of Bruno is that he seems to get returns even when not necessarily playing well something which bodes well for us FPL managers as all that matter is points.
Bruno in numbers:
- Most FPL points in the last four weeks(40) with four goals and two assists.
- 11 shots on target, five big chances, five big chances created, xG of 3.91 and xA of 2.18 in the last four weeks. Huge numbers which he’ll most likely look to carry forward.
- 121 points in 11 away games since joining Man United averaging 11 points per game out of which 7 are double digit hauls
