Buckle up, managers. It’s double Gameweek time. FPL GW29 sees both ManCity and Arsenal play twice. As a result, it would be wise to give the armband to a player from one of the aforementioned teams. With KDB potentially injured and ManCity ‘s rotation policy, choosing the right captain is a tough task. That’s why we’re here. In this blog, we’ll give you the best captain picks for FPL GW29.
FPL DGW 29 Captain picks
Aubameyang vs WestHam(H) & ManCity(A)
This is a no brainier, pretty much. Aubameyang has been in red hot form of late and will be looking to pile more misery on his opponents – Westham and ManCity. The Gabonese international has scored 3 goals in his last two premier league games.
Incidentally, he scored 12 points when Arsenal last faced Westham – a team that ships goals for fun. Indeed the Hammers have conceded a whopping 15 goals in their last 6 games. Whilst the ManCity fixture might seem daunting on paper, Auba could deliver in that game too. Laporte is still injured and dare I say Mikel Arteta may just want to show his master what he’s capable of!
Kun Aguero vs ManUtd(A) & Arsenal(H)
How can someone go from being the most sold player to a top captain pick within the space of a week? Well, that’s Kun Aguero for you. After having an off day at Leicester, Aguero was left out in Madrid. But he has since scored two decisive goals in two matches in space of a few days. He’s back to form and faces two of his favorite opponents in FPL GW29.
The Argentine has 9 goals in the Manchester derby, a number bettered by only 3 other players. Adding on to that, in the Premier League, only Steven Gerrard ( 5 ) has scored more goals at Old Trafford as a visitor than Sergio Aguero( 4 ). As for the home game against Arsenal, he scored a hattrick in this fixture last season. Brace yourselves, he could be in for a big haul in FPL GW29. It won’t be a bad idea to triple captain him too!
Mo Salah vs Bournemouth(H)
Yes. A Liverpool player on the list. Granted, they’re going through a mini-crisis so to speak. Having said that, all the recent defeats that they’ve had have come away from home. In FPL GW29 they take on Bournemouth at Anfield, a ground where they’ve won their last 21 games. On top of that, the Reds have won their last 5 league matches against Bournemouth with an aggregate scoreline of 17-0.
Salah is a home banker. The Egyptian has scored 5 goals in his last 4 home games. Not only that , 13 out of his 15 goals this season have come at home. So don’t think twice about captaining him, even ahead of ManCity and Arsenal assets.
Raul Jimenez vs Brighton(H)
Essentially we’re talking about a Wolves asset here. Raul Jimenez is the third most owned forward in the league and he’s generally very reliable in home matches. The Mexican is the top scorer for Nuno’s side this season, he has 13 goals to his name.
Brighton are in a bit of a rut, to say the least. The Seagulls haven’t won since the turn of the year and have been conceding a lot of goals. Jimenez, therefore, is a safe pick.

Ricardo vs Aston Villa(H)
Now, this is a left-field choice. Leicester’s form has been pretty poor in the last month or so. But, in FPL GW29, they take on Aston Villa – a team that has let in more goals than any other side in the league(52).
Ricardo is a very adventurous full-back. The Portuguese was very unlucky not to pick up an assist at Norwich. He did, however, score the winner in the Foxes’ FA Cup win over Birmingham.
Another key thing to note here is Aston Villa ‘s weakness down their left flank. Grealish tends to cut inside and Matt Targett overlaps more often than not. That opens up an awful lot of room to exploit for opponents. So if you want to try something unique to move up the ladder in leagues, pick Ricardo as your captain.
