Everything You Need To Know About FPL Return| FPL Season Restart

100 days. Yes. The ball will be set rolling for the first time in Premier League in 100 days when Aston Villa take on Sheffield on June 17. The wait is finally over. The Premier League has come with the “Project Restart” in an attempt to complete the 2019-20 season from June 17- July 25. The news has come about the commencement of FPL season with few additions to the old set of rules. Check out this blog to know the key things before setting your team for the GW39(GW30+) deadline.

1. The fixtures- GW30+, GW31+, GW32+,….. GW38+

Don’t be confused hearing terms like GW30+, GW31+, etc. The original 38 Gameweeks have been completed during the Corona Virus break as blank games for all the teams. So FPL has to introduce further gameweeeks to accommodate the remaining fixtures. The remaining 92 fixtures will be played across 9 Gameweeks including several mid-week fixtures. The FA Cup quarter finals is scheduled for the weekend of July 27, semis on July 17, Finals on August 1 as provisional dates.

Check out the Premier League fixtures here.

2. The Double Gameweek- DGW 30+:

Gameweek 30+ fixtures

Manchester City, Sheffield United, Aston Villa, Arsenal have played a game less than the other 16 teams. So all these four will have a Double Gameweek first up on GW30+ to compensate for it.

This might possibly be the last DGW in this season. So its time to load City assets in your team.

3. Chips/Wildcard rules for the reminder of FPL season:

FPL have confirmed that managers can make unlimited transfers before the GW30+ deadline on June 17. Many people have come up with different opinions on whether the unlimited transfers should be given or not, but finally it is settled.

Rules on chips explained/ Tips :

Rules on FPL chips explained⤵

1. All the unused chips/wildcards will be available to use before the end of the season.

2. Prices of players won’t change till GW30+ deadline.

3. If you make unlimited transfers for GW30+, then decide to play free hit the players you brought IN won’t be in your squad for GW31+. Your team will revert back to exactly how it looked at GW38.

4. All the chips(Triple Captain. Bench Boost, Free Hit) can be used anytime from GW30+ onwards.

5. If you had used transfers up to GW38 to build a solid squad and have value built around them, you can use the Free hit chip instead of using the unlimited transfers option and revert back to the old team(GW38) for GW31+
If you have a Wildcard left, load your team with DGW 30+ assets and then use wildcard ahead of GW 31+ deadline.
If you don’t have a wildcard left, build a decent enough squad to sustain for the remainder of the season.

6. When using unlimited transfers don’t make the mistake of selling players that you have incurred value on, unless you are sure of not bringing them back again.

7. If you are playing a chip on GW30+ with no wildcard left, Bench Boost seems to be a better chip to use.

8. Triple Captain seems to be a gamble on GW30+. Why?
Good thing: This is possibly the last DGW this season. So it’s best to maximize points using this chip.
Bad thing: Not still sure of player’s fitness and minutes they will get due to rotation.

4. The five substitution rule:

Substitution
The new rule won’t make a big change in terms of FPL

Premier League has confirmed that teams can make upto five substitutions once the league resume on June 17. It remains to be seen how the managers will rotate their squad with the fixture pile-up.

Fixture pile-up -> Five substitutions -> More rotation

Yes. There will be rotation, but it will be really difficult to transfer in/out players based on this rule. There are certain players like KDB, Aguero who will be rotated as City have fallen out of the title race. Fringe/Bench players from City will be given more playing-time than before. But it can’t rule out what Aguero/KDB bring to the table even with less minutes on the pitch. So don’t dig in deep/overthink on this rule.

6. Key FPL Players returning from injury ahead of season restart
