FPL GW5 Differential Picks

Thierno Barry โ€“ Everton โ€“ 5.6 Forward โ€“ 6.8 % TSB

FPL GW5 Differential Picks- Barry
  • A 5.6 Million Forward playing 90 minutes and with no rotation risk against 2 promoted teams in the next 2 Gameweeks, what could be better? Its not just the fixtures, Barry actually is only behind Haaland among Forwards for xG, xGI, Shots, Shots in the Box and Big Chances. He has been unlucky to only score once so far this season, but we do believe that fixtures breeds form. Perhaps these 2 fixtures will set Barry into a good goalscoring streak. He also has an outside shot of taking penalties for Everton.

  • Ipswich have conceded a lot of Big Chances and that has actually helped the Strikers facing them with Isak scoring a brace and Strand Larsen scoring a goal. They also conceded 3 Goals to Bruno in Gameweek 2 and conceded Big Chances to Kamada who supplied 2 Assists in Gameweek 4. This shows that they have a weakness down the Center of the pitch and tend to concede most of their Big Chances to the Main Man up top. Barry could reap the rewards this Gameweek.

Kiernan Dewsbury Hall โ€“ Everton โ€“ 6.5 Midfielder โ€“ 5.4 % TSB

FPL GW5 Differential Picks- Dewsbury Hall
  • Targeting Ipswich has been a good source of FPL points for the opposition attackers. Ipswich have conceded the 2nd most Goals in the League and have actually conceded 7 Goals away from home. We also highlighted Ipswichโ€™s weakness to central forwards/ Central Attacking Mids. This could bring KDH into the picture.
  • So far, KDH has been really unlucky to only get a single attacking return as he has had 12 Shots, 5 Shots on Target, 7 Shots in the Box. He has also supplied 9 key passes for his team-mates. He also takes set pieces and averages close to 9 Defcons per 90 minutes. This makes him a brilliant all round pick for the upcoming fixture run as Everton play all 3 Promoted teams in the next 6 Gameweeks.
  • KDH showed remarkable consistency last season as he got 15 attacking returns in only 31 Starts. He averaged 5 points per start last season and even earned Defcon points in 5 Games last season. If Everton do score, expect KDH to be a focal point of that goal.

Daniel Munoz โ€“ Nottingham Forest โ€“ 5.4 Defender โ€“ 5.7 % TSB

FPL GW5 Differential Picks- Munoz
  • Glasner has slowly but surely started waving his magic wand on the Forest team. Forest are 3rd best for xG conceded, 2nd best for Big Chances conceded and joint 3rd best for Shots conceded in the League. Marry that with the fixture Forest have this Gameweek against a Coventry team which is ranked worst for xG and 2nd worst for Big Chances. This also reflects in the Market odds for this Gameweek as Forest have the 2nd best Clean Sheet odds this Gameweek (only behind Manchester City).

  • Munoz got his 1st 90 minutes last Gameweek and had a brilliant game as he created 4 Chances (including 1 Big Chance) which contributed to 0.4 xGI. He has played under Glasner in the last 2 seasons and has accumulated 8 and 10 Goal involvements in the last 2 seasons. He even earned Defcons in 7 Games last season. He also formed a brilliant link up with Gibbs White last Gameweek and knowing his mega haul potential, we suggest going for him over the other Forest defenders.

Liam Delap โ€“ Nottingham Forest โ€“ 5.5 Forward โ€“ 1.8 % TSB

FPL GW5 Differential Picks- Delap
  • Forest have the 3rd highest odds of scoring the most Goals this Gameweek. They are predicted to score close to 2 Goals. Coventry are in the Bottom 3 for xGC, Bottom 4 for Shots conceded and Bottom 6 for Non Penalty xGC. They lost their heads against Brighton, especially after the red card and are yet to score this season and pick up their first point.
  • This brings Delap into the picture. Over the last 2 Gameweeks he has been starting as the main man up top. He even played 90 minutes last Gameweek and scored his 1st Goal. He took 6 Shots last Gameweek and racked up close to 0.65 xG. He also created 1 Chance last gameweek and even had time to miss a Big Chance. Under Glasner, Mateta became a reliable FPL forward capable of big hauls. If Delap can continue his good form, he could reach those heights as well.
  • Forest also have a great run of fixtures as they face 3 teams (in the next 4 Gameweeks) which have conceded the most Goals so far this season. With Gibbs White supplying him, Delap could be a handy Budget Forward to own for the next few Gameweeks.

Malick Thiaw โ€“ Newcastle United โ€“ 5.0 Defender โ€“ 2.2 % TSB

FPL GW5 Differential Picks- Thiaw
  • Newcastle now play back to back games against promoted teams in the next 2 Gameweeks. They face Hull City & Coventry City which are both ranked in the Bottom 5 for xG, Non Penalty xG, Shots. Coventry are yet to score and Hull have only scored 5 Goals so far this season. This could bring the Newcastle defenders into our FPL radar.
  • With Hall being quite popular, we are going with a left field choice in Thiaw. Thiaw scored 4 Goals last season and could have had more as he had 14 Shots on Target. He is a menace on Set pieces and a very solid source of Defcon points. So far he has earned Defcon in 2 Games and he earned it in 12 Games last season. With the game against Hull City being a very physical game, expect Thiaw to do very well for Defcon this Gameweek.

FPL GW5 Ultra-Differential Pick(<1% TSB)

James Garner โ€“ Everton โ€“ 6.0 Midfielder โ€“ 0.2 % TSB

FPL GW5 Differential Picks- Garner
  • We are really going heavy on Everton this Gameweek as we include the 3rd Toffee in this Article. We have already highlighted Ipswichโ€™s weakness down the Center of the pitch, their rate of big chances conceded. This makes any opposition attacker a nice option to get FPL points.
  • Garner was a Defcon magent last season as he earned Defcons on a massive 20 occasions last season. He got the 2nd highest Defcons among Midfielders and averaged 12.09 Defcons/90 last season. He also scored twice and got 7 Assists last season. He is now back to full fitness having played the full 90 minutes last Gameweek. There is an outside chance that he could be on penalties. He even takes some set pieces. This makes him a very reliable pick as he earns 4-5 points most Gameweeks. If you want such a reliable FPL asset for a long period of time, Garner is your man.

Note: Garner is likely to be on penalties as well for Everton. With Ndiaye leaving, it is not very clear. It is very likely to be Garner with both Barry and Dewsbury Hall having outside chances. Barry took one in pre-season but Garner was not in the pitch then. Garner also took the penalty in the FA Cup game vs Sunderland last season when both Barry and Garner were on the pitch.

Thatโ€™s it for Gameweek 5. We will be back with 6 More Differentials next Gameweek where we will be hoping to get some positive returns from our current selected Differentials for Gameweek 5.
