FPL GW4 was an interesting one, with Leeds being the only team to win at home. In this article, the founders of AllAboutFPL – Surya and Srini will discuss their FPL GW5 Team Selection, highlighting their Drafts, Watchlist, and Chip Strategy for GW5 and beyond. Spoiler alert- Both of them have a chip active.
Note: In this article, we try to explain the thought process behind the players we are picking and the transfers we are planning to make. We will try to keep the article updated based on the moves we make during the week. Do Bookmark the article. The teams shown in the images are not final and are subject to change before the deadline.

Surya’s GW5 Team Selection
GW4 Review:

78 Points on a Free Hit- It was a disappointing week on a Free Hit despite the Arsenal triple up. Arsenal Triple up was correct but I did go with the wrong Triple up with No Raya/Saka- Both of them scoring and saving penalties. Pedro’s injury concern and lots of other issues mean that I have activated Wildcard for GW5.
GW5 Bus Team – Wildcard active

Why Wildcard in GW5?
I have decided to Wildcard even with the 3 week International break after GW5 even though it is a big risk and there could be injuries during the International break. But my team is in a mess right now and I could see myself getting in players who could provide good value long-term. And also Wildcard would help to get to the Team structure I want- Haaland + Palmer + Saka + Gibbs White+ Double Arsenal defense. To support the above structure I can also get cheap picks from these teams listed below who have excellent fixtures.

The above draft is rated 91% on Fantasy Football Hub’s FREE AI Team Rating Tool(Check it out for FREE) and is predicted to score 59 Points.

Defenders and GKs:
Double Arsenal defense is a no-brainer on Wildcard with Konsa offering tremendous value at just 4.5 million. Muharemovic and Silva are the DEFCON Defenders who can return a 4 pointer almost every single week irrespective of the fixtures. Munoz is the upside chasing pick with Coventry, Palace and Ipswich in the next 3/4 games.
Midfielders:
Saka and Palmer are the Premium Midfielders here who have penalties and are the Talismen for their teams. The though process is maybe swapping one of them for Bruno Fernandes in GW11/GW12 when Man United have a good fixture run. Gibbs White has multiple routes to points and is
Among Midfielders, he is currently ranked:

- 1st for Big Chances Created (4)
- 5th for xGI (2.57)
- Joint 2nd for Bonus Points(6)
- 11th for FPL points (26 pts)
King is the Budget Midfielder pick who plays 3 Promoted sides in 3 consecutive weeks from GW6-GW8. He is the Differential Pick in this Midfield playing in an advanced No.10 position and taking up good scoring positions. About time, He has this breakthrough season and returns FPL Points.
Janelt rounds up the Midfield as the Budget Midfielder and 8th Attacker in this draft. He can chip in any week as he is really good for Defensive Contributions.

Forwards:
Haaland is a no-brainer. Barry has 2 promoted teams up next and is ranked only behind Haaland for underlying data in the entire league.
- A 5.6 Million Forward playing 90 minutes and with no rotation risk against 2 promoted teams in the next 2 Gameweeks, what could be better? Its not just the fixtures, Barry actually is only behind Haaland among Forwards for xG, xGI, Shots, Shots in the Box and Big Chances. He has been unlucky to only score once so far this season, but we do believe that fixtures breeds form. Perhaps these 2 fixtures will set Barry into a good goalscoring streak.

Wissa rounds up the team with 4 good fixtures up next- HUL(H), COV(A), AVL(H) and CRY(A). Two promoted sides, followed by 2 struggling teams and with Newcastle not playing in Europe I want to take up this punt. Garcia is the other option I have considered and still not decided on the final slot.
Captaincy:
The Captaincy is locked in on Haaland. I did briefly think about Gibbs White who has Coventry at Home and is predicted to score 6.1 Points according to Fantasy Football Hub. But owning Gibbs White itself should give enough rank gains if he hauls and it might be a bit too risky to go against Haaland who once again Tops our FPL GW5 Captaincy Metrics.

Srini’s GW5 Team Selection
GW4 Review:

No Pascal Gross and Liverpool Midfield double up meant that it was a below par week for me. Chelsea attack triple up did their job but most of them had them anyways. No Saka/Raya meant it was a huge swing this week but in the wrong direction.
GW5 Bus Team – Free Hit active

Why Free Hit in GW5?
- Can attack the Teams who have good home fixtures vs Promoted teams and struggling sides- Everton vs IPS(H), Forest vs COV(H), Newcastle vs HUL(H), Leeds vs CRY(H), Man City vs SUN(H).

- Joao Pedro injury situation– Xabi Alonso on team news: No one is ruled out for the game tomorrow and will not say what Joao Pedro’s injury. He says he will take final decisions tomorrow. He says it’s possible that he could play tomorrow and then not for Brazil. Moises Caicedo is “closer”. It is likely that Pedro missed GW5- Recovers during the big international break and maybe back for GW6.
- Only 2-3 players from my original team make my GW5 Free Hit draft.
The above draft is rated 95% on Fantasy Football Hub’s FREE AI Team Rating Tool(Check it out for FREE) and is predicted to score 62 Points.

Alternate Options from this Draft:
| Options | IN | OUT |
| 1 | Sels, Egan, Enzo Fernandez | Donnarumma, Branthwaite, Janelt |
| 2 | Pickford, Gvardiol, 4.8 MID | Donnarumma, Branthwaite, Janelt |
| 3 | Trafford, Williams/Murillo/Hall | Donnarumma, Muharemovic |
| 4 | Gabriel, Williams, 3.9 DEF, Dewsbury Hall | Calafiori, Branthwaite, Mykolenko, Cherki |
There are certain players that are locked in my starting 11 on GW5 Free hit.
- Haaland
- Barry
- Calvert Lewin
- Bruno Fernandes
- Gibbs White
- Munoz
Among the other 5 spots- There are different combinations that could be paved out like mentioned above. There will certainly be a Man City defense coverage, Leeds defender, Everton Defender making the team. I am very likely to stick with the team shown in the picture although I like option 1 and option 3 as well. The article will be updated closer to the deadline based on my decisions.
Captaincy:
With Haaland getting the midweek rest, it is a straight forward decision for me to captain Haaland against Sunderland(H) this week. City have the Highest Goal scoring odds for this week and it is very likely that Haaland is involved when City score.
