Welcome back to our weekly FPL Fixtures & Players to Target series, which we will continue throughout the 2026/27 season. With three Gameweeks now in the books, we have a much better idea of which teams and players are delivering, while the fixture swing also gives us some interesting options to consider.
Gameweek 4 looks particularly attractive for Chelsea and Liverpool, with both sides among the teams with the highest projected goals. Arsenal also have a favourable fixture on paper, although Sunderland have started the season well defensively.
Here are the teams and players Iโm looking at ahead of Gameweek 4.

FPL GW4: Fixtures to Target
Based on the projected goals for Gameweek 4, these are the five teams Iโm most interested in targeting:
Team – xG (Market Odds):
Chelsea – 2.69
Liverpool – 2.34
Arsenal – 1.79
Man City – 1.78
Crystal Palace – 1.72
Chelsea stand out with a huge 2.69 xG at home to Hull, while Liverpool also have an excellent fixture against Fulham at Anfield. Arsenal, Man City and Crystal Palace complete the top five.
For clean-sheet potential, Arsenal lead the way (as usual):
Team – CS% (Market Odds):
- Arsenal – 49%
- Chelsea – 47%
- Liverpool – 34%
- Brighton – 32%
- Spurs – 32%
Arsenal and Chelsea are therefore the two teams I would be most interested in targeting at both ends of the pitch.

FPL GW4 Defenders to Target
Ezri Konsa ยฃ4.4m

Ezri Konsa is genuinely starting to feel like he has broken the game at ยฃ4.4m. He started for Arsenal in Gameweek 3 and immediately delivered defensive contribution points, although Arsenal couldn’t keep a clean sheet against Chelsea. I can see a lot of teams on X with triple Arsenal defence – Raya, Calafiori and Konsa.
What makes him even more attractive is that Arsenal’s defensive numbers give us plenty of confidence in future clean sheets, with their projected CS probability sitting at 44%+ on average across the next ten Gameweeks, next best is directly Manchester City at 32% (10%+ lower)
With Gabriel costing almost twice as much, Konsa gives you a way into what is the best defence in the league without committing a huge chunk of your budget. If you can fit him into your squad, I think he is one of the easiest transfers to justify this week. Mosquera is still doubtful and Saliba is still a few months away, he looks like a good pick for now. I am considering a move from an injured Rodon to Konsa.

Lewis Hall ยฃ5.1m

Newcastle also have one of the best fixture runs coming up, with Leeds, Hull, Coventry, Aston Villa, Crystal Palace and Everton making up their next six, rated top according to the fixture ticker by Fantasy Football Hub.
Hall is particularly interesting because he offers more attacking potential than your typical ยฃ4.5m defender. He is on corners, has already picked up defensive contribution points in two matches and has posted strong BPS numbers among Newcastle defenders.
His attacking numbers are encouraging too, with a 0.72 xGI after three Gameweeks, putting him among Newcastle’s better attacking options – tied third only slightly behind Elanga. With Newcastle’s fixture run looking so good, Hall is one of the budget defenders I would be happy to bring in now and hold for several weeks.

FPL GW4 Midfielders to Target
Cole Palmer or (and) Morgan Rogers
This is probably the biggest midfield decision for Gameweek 4 – if you can’t triple up on the Chelsea attack of JP Morgan.
Palmer has the higher ceiling, and the projections are very much in his favour. He has the highest Gameweek 4 projection across all the models Iโm looking at, with some models even putting him in the conversation for the Triple Captain chip.
He also comes into the gameweek after scoring twice against Leeds midweek, while Chelsea now face Hull at home. The fixture is exactly what we want from Palmer, and Chelsea’s 2.69 xG is comfortably the highest of any team this week.
Rogers, however, has been absolutely outstanding so far. The four assists in his last game took his early-season numbers to another level, and he has now returned in all three Gameweeks.
Here is how the three players compare so far:
The numbers make Rogers’ start particularly impressive, while Palmer still has the combination of penalties, elite underlying numbers, and a much higher ceiling.
For my team, though, Iโm likely to keep Bruno Fernandes and captain Joรฃo Pedro, which means my likely move is Mbeumo โ Rogers rather than forcing Palmer in.

Cody Gakpo ยฃ7.2m
Gakpo is another player who has made a very strong case for inclusion.
Liverpool have a 2.3 xG projection against Fulham, while Fulham have already conceded 15 shots on target and seven goals across their opening matches. That makes this one of the standout attacking fixtures of the week.
Gakpo is currently on 28 points, the highest total in FPL, and he has returned in all three Gameweeks.
There is one obvious caveat: we need to monitor his fitness before making the move – Iraola did mention that he was struggling after the last game and he wasn’t in the squad vs Atletico Madrid as well. If he is fit, though, I think Liverpool attackers are very difficult to ignore this week.

Martin รdegaard ยฃ6.5m
If you don’t want to triple up on Arsenal defence, รdegaard is an interesting alternative.
He is currently Arsenal’s highest-scoring player with 24 points, narrowly ahead of Calafiori and Saka. His underlying numbers have also been encouraging, with six shots and seven key passes so far.
The most encouraging part for me is the conversion of his chances. He has already scored twice from six shots, including an excellent finish against Napoli, while his expected assists have also been above one despite not registering an assist yet.
At ยฃ6.5m, he gives you a cheaper route into an Arsenal attack that has some very attractive fixtures coming up.

Alexander Isak ยฃ8.9m
Isak was one of the players I was particularly happy to own on a Free Hit, and nothing from the first three Gameweeks has changed my view. He scored twice against Ipswich in Gameweek 3, with Gakpo providing both assists, and he is currently Liverpool’s highest xGI player.
Liverpool also have the second-highest projected xG this week, with Fulham coming to Anfield. The next few fixtures are attractive too, with Liverpool projected to score 1.5+ goals in each of their next five matches against Fulham, Bournemouth and Manchester City, Brentford and Brighton.
Given his combination of underlying numbers, minutes and fixture run, Isak remains one of my priority attackers – he looks like the Talisman as well, everything should flow through him.
Thierno Barry vs Yoane Wissa
This is another interesting decision if you’re looking for a forward below the premium bracket.
Newcastle have the better long-term fixture run, with Leeds, Hull, Coventry, Aston Villa, Crystal Palace and Everton coming up. Everton, however, have the better short-term run over the next few Gameweeks.
That puts Thierno Barry firmly into the conversation.

Barry currently has the second-highest forward xGI after Haaland, while his expected points total of 18.74 is significantly higher than his actual points return so far (12). He also leads Wissa for shots, key passes and big chances.
The team-level numbers make the decision slightly more interesting. Everton have already recorded 18 shots on target, the third-highest total in the league behind the two Manchester clubs, while Newcastle have managed just eight (among the bottom 5).
Wissa has certainly done enough to justify his ownership, but if I’m looking specifically at underlying numbers and the potential for a forward to outperform his current points total, Iโm leaning towards Barry.
Conclusion
Gameweek 4 looks like another week where the fixture ticker gives us some very clear targets.
Chelsea and Liverpool are the two attacks Iโm most interested in, while Arsenal remain the standout defensive team. Konsa at ยฃ4.4m is probably the easiest defensive transfer to make, particularly if you want exposure to Arsenal without spending ยฃ8m on Gabriel.
In midfield, Palmer has the highest ceiling, Gakpo has been incredibly consistent, and Rogers looks like an excellent value option given his start to the season. Personally, Iโm leaning towards Rogers, as it allows me to keep Bruno and I will then captain Joรฃo Pedro.
Up front, Isak remains a priority, while the Barry vs Wissa debate is one Iโll be watching closely. For me, Barry’s underlying numbers and Everton’s attacking output make him the more interesting option, particularly for managers looking beyond just the next fixture.
With the season now starting to take shape, Gameweek 4 feels like a good point to start making longer-term moves rather than simply chasing the previous week’s points.
