FPL Gameweek 4 Review
The Wildcard played in GW3 came through in GW4, as the team managed to score 98 points, just 2 shy of a century, as the Overall rank jumped from 926k to 301k.
I got lucky with that Raya penalty save, which basically was a 20 points swing based on that single event. Nonetheless, 14 points from Raya is more than I could ask for. The defence raked in even more points, as Konsa and Calafiori got a clean sheet each, while De Cuyper chipped in with an assist, clean sheet, and 2 bonus points.
In the midfield, although Palmer and Rogers provided an assist and a goal respectively, people would definitely be disappointed with Palmer’s points considering so many even played a Triple Captain on him. Szoboszlai with another blank, although he always seems close to getting returns. The man of the hour, Pascal Gross, had one of the hauls of his career. 1 goal, 2 assists and maximum bonus points, earned him 17 points against Coventry away from home. The strategy to chase Coventry City games seems to be working.
At the front, Joao Pedro again managed to get a goal and an assist, while Haaland scored a very controversial goal. Both strikers managed to get maximum bonus points. Wissa drew another blank in a 4-1 loss to Leeds United, however, the fixtures look strong, patience is still warranted.
FPL GW5 Team Reveal and Plans
The team picks itself this week, with Sangare playing Chelsea, Gross and De Cuyper playing Arsenal. They find their places on the bench. I moved early from Szoboszlai to Morgan Gibbs-White, who is on penalties and is in fine form. With Coventry (H), Crystal Palace (A) and Ipswich (A) in the next 4 games, the fixtures look really good, with none of these teams keeping a clean sheet this season in 12 games combined.

- Joint 2nd for Bonus Points(6)
- 11th for FPL points (26 pts)
I am rolling with triple Arsenal defence again this week but against an in-form Brighton side, as the bookmakers still give the champions around 36% chance of a clean sheet at the time of writing. Gvardiol finds his way back into the team, playing Sunderland at home, having 48% chance of keeping a clean sheet. Rounding up the defence is Mallick Thiaw, who is given a 36% chance of a clean sheet too against Hull City at home.
In the attack, it’s triple Chelsea attack against a difficult Brentford side away from home, and does not look primed for points on paper. But we know what this Chelsea attack is capable of. Morgan Gibbs-White and Yoanne Wissa against Coventry and Hull at home look prime for points on paper, although Hull are still unbeaten in the league. Erling Haaland against Sunderland takes the captaincy for now. I am rolling the second transfer, and would like to accumulate free transfers for the future.
Do note: Joao Pedro has withdrawn from the Brazil national team, due to injury. I’ll be making updates based on the press conference update from Xabi Alonso.
Update (Friday 16:46 UK Time)
It does look like Joao Pedro is out. Nonetheless, I have kept him in my starting 11, he most likely will get auto-subbed out anyway. As it stands, I have Sangare on the first bench. Gross is also an option for that place.
