Best Premium and Mid Prcied FPL Forwards(>6.0 Million) for 2026/27 season

ICYMI- Part 1 of the Forwards Series: Best Budget Forwards to consider for 2026/27 season based on Stats and Analysis

Erling Haaland โ€“ 15.5 Forward – Manchester City

Pros :

  • The Main Man of FPL, now that Mo Salah has left the Premier League. He scored 27 Goals and got 8 Assists last season. He had 126 Shots, 114 Shots in the box, and 59 Shots on Target. He had 51 Big Chances and an xG of 25.43. All of these were league-leading stats, which made his position as the go-to forward justifiable.

Top Players for xG last season:

  • A stat all of you already know by now is that Erling Haaland starts the League season on fire. He has scored 10 Goals (67 points), 8 Goals (51 points), 10 Goals (65 points), and 8 Goals (62) points in the 1st 6 weeks of the League since joining the League. He gets to face 2 teams with new coaches (Bournemouth & Palace) and then newly promoted Coventry in the 1st 3 Gameweeks. Do not be surprised if he gets a brace in all of these games and continues this trend of starting the FPL season on fire.

Cons :

  • Pep is gone. How will City function without Pep? Will their attack be as fluent? All these are open questions, which need to be answered. But surely, class is permanent & we all know Erling Haaland is class.

Alexander Isak โ€“ 9.0 Forward – Liverpool

Pros :

  • When he is injury-free and not distracted with transfer rumors, Isak is a hell of a player. The proof is in the pudding, as he scored 23 and 21 Goals in the 2 full seasons he played at Newcastle. He even had 10 Assists across those 2 seasons. He even has penalties now in his corner with Mo Salah departing Liverpool.
  • Liverpool have the best 5 fixtures to start the season as they face a Newcastle team in transition and then face teams like Forest, Fulham at home, and promoted Ipswich and Bournemouth away. Iraola is a front-foot manager, unlike Slot, and transformed Bournemouthโ€™s attack completely. Expect him to have the same effect on Liverpool. With Ekitike out injured, Isak is now expected to play most of the minutes, and he does seem to be getting back to his best, as evidenced by his displays in the World Cup in the summer. If he can stay fit, expect him to have another 20+ Goal season.

Isak in pre-season: 100+ Minutes, โšฝ๐Ÿ…ฐ๏ธ

Cons :

  • His injury record is the only concern at the moment. If he can stay fit, Isak looks to be a brilliant option in FPL this season.

Ollie Watkins โ€“ 8.0 Forward – Aston Villa

Pros :

  • Consistent Ollie Watkins. 15, 19, 16 and 16 Goals in the last 4 Premier League seasons. 167 FPL Points is the lowest he has scored in the last 4 FPL seasons. That is remarkable consistency. Watkins ranked 3rd among Forwards for Big Chances (24) and 4th for xG (15.14) last season.
  • Villa are also one of the few teams that have the same coach as last season, and that itself is a positive, as most Premier League teams will need time to adjust to the new tactics of their new coaches. From Gameweek 3, Villaโ€™s fixtures ease up, and I expect Watkins to be the focal point of the Villa attack again this season.

Cons :

  • The departures of Rogers could hurt Villaโ€™s creativity, plus 2 tough games to begin the season makes Watkins an avoid in the 1st 2 Games of the season.
  • Watkins has also been linked to a move away from Villa, and although that is unlikely to happen, best to jump on him after the transfer window closes after Gameweek 2. Gameweek 3 against Hull City seems to be the perfect window.

Igor Thiago โ€“ 8.0 Forward – Brentford

Pros :

  • The surprise package of last season, Thiago scored 22 Goals last season. He was ranked 2nd for Goals last season and also for Shots (84),ย  Shots in the Box (80), Shots on Target (41), and Big Chances (41).
  • Thiago is the Focal point of the Brentford attack and their talisman. He plays 90 minutes in most matches and is also Brentfordโ€™s designated penalty taker. Without European games, he seems to be free of rotation worries as well and has some solid games to start this season.

Igor Thiago in pre-season: โšฝโšฝโšฝ๐Ÿ…ฐ๏ธ

Cons :

  • Having penalties is never a disadvantage, but can Brentford win another 8 penalties again this season? This could lead to a slight drop in Thiagoโ€™s goal numbers this season. Only time will tell.

The Gunners (Viktor Gyokeres and Kai Havertz) โ€“ 7.5 Forwards – Arsenal

Pros :

  • Gyokeres scored 14 Goals in only 26 Starts last season and this was the 5th best among Forwards. Having penalties in his locker helps and also surrounded by quality players such as Saka, Odegaard, Eze and Rice will get the best out of any striker. Gyokeres is also usually preferred to start against the lower ranked teams in the League
  • Havertz is often favored by Arteta in the tougher games and that was in full evidence when Havertz started the Champions League final and also scored. Although Havertz only started 7 Games last season, he still scored 2 Goals in the League and even got 3 Assists (more than Gyokeres managed). Havertzโ€™s all round play is appreciated by every manager and he should feature more regularly this season after his injury fears are now behind him.

Havertz in pre-season: โšฝโšฝ, 250+ minutes

Gyokeres in pre-season: โšฝ, 200+ minutes

Cons :

  • Gyokeres will need to improve his overall game to become Arsenalโ€™s main man. Otherwise, Arteta may start playing Havertz more and more as he contributes a much more balanced approach to the team.
  • Injury concerns are Havertzโ€™s main issue. One more problem is that with Bruno Guimarรฃes signing for Arsenal, Havertzโ€™s role in midfield now seems much more limited. He will mostly be played as the Striker and usually in the tougher games, where goal-scoring opportunities are likely to be much less.

Hugo Ekitike  โ€“ 7.5 Forward – Liverpool

Pros :

  • Probably Liverpoolโ€™s best attacking player last season with 11 Goals and 4 Assists from just 21 starts. He is a quality player and will surely be back on the FPL radar when he returns from injury.

Cons :

  • The rotation with Alexander Isak will be a concern when he does return to action.

Joao Pedro โ€“ 7.5 Forward – Chelsea

Pros :

  • He is currently the 2nd most owned player in the game, before the season has kicked off and for good reason. He has had a summer off from the World Cup and is fully rested and ready to prove a point to the Brazil National Team. He scored 15 Goals and got 9 Assists last season and got 177 FPL points, which was the 4th best among Forwards. He is also on fire in pre-season, having scored 7 Goals in 5 games so far.

Joao Pedro in pre-season: 300+ Minutes, โšฝโšฝโšฝโšฝโšฝโšฝโšฝ๐Ÿ…ฐ๏ธ๐Ÿ…ฐ๏ธ

  • One of Pedroโ€™s main advantages over other forwards is his all-round game. He created 29 chances and 6 Big Chances last season and got the most number of assists among Forwards. Usually playing as a Forward, he can also play just behind the striker. That versatility comes in handy during injuries to other players.
  • With an attacking coach like Xavi Alonso and players like Palmer and Rogers feeding him chances, he should get even more opportunities this season. Lack of European commitments will also help Chelsea to fully focus on the League this season.

Cons :

  • Not much at the moment, but Chelseaโ€™s bloated squad could lead to some rotation during the hectic Christmas period.

Benjamin Sesko โ€“ 7.0 Forward – Manchester United

Pros :

  • Sesko ended the season strongly with 11 Goals and 2 Assists from 17 starts after initially struggling at the beginning of the season. He did much better under Carrick than under Amorim, often coming off the bench to grab winners for United. He is Unitedโ€™s Main Striker and will likely improve under Carrickโ€™s guidance this season.
  • Getting chances will never be a problem with Unitedโ€™s rich source of chance creators like Bruno, Cunha and Mbeumo.

Cons :

  • Currently, he is not expected to start the 1st few weeks as his pre-season was disrupted by a shin injury. He will miss 2 enticing games against Hull & Ipswich at the beginning of the season.
  • His best performances for United came when he came off the bench, and that is what may initially suit him. Plus, with United playing in the Champions League this season, he could be set for more rotation. A wait-and-watch for me at the moment.

Jean Philippe Mateta โ€“ 6.5 Forward – Crystal Palace

Pros :

  • Mateta has slowly become a consistent FPL asset over the last 3 years. 12, 14 and 16 Goals over the last 3 seasons show his reliability. He is also explosive on his day and usually tends to post good underlying numbers throughout the season. He is also on penalties and often plays most of the game when fit.
  • Palace have some nice games to begin the season with games against Fulham, Ipswich & Leeds in the 1st 5 games.

Cons :

  • What will the departure of Oliver Glasner do to Palace? Is Mateta fully injury-free? These are the answers we need before jumping on the Mateta train in FPL.
  • Mateta also now has a quality backup behind him with Jorgen Strand Larsen ready to eat into his minutes whenever needed. Unlike Glasner, who had a strong connection with Mateta, Sage will reward the striker spot based on form, and if Mateta struggles initially, he could lose his place. A late return from the World Cup further complicates matters.

The Unfavorable Duo

  • Omar Marmoush โ€“ 7.0 Forward โ€“ Manchester City – The only way that Marmoush becomes an FPL option is if Erling Haaland gets injured or if he goes to some other club in the League. Would avoid at the beginning of the season.
  • Nicolas Jackson โ€“ 6.5 Forward โ€“ Chelsea – Linked with a move away from Chelsea. Would not choose him as an FPL option anyway.

Rankings – Best Premium and Mid Priced FPL Forwards

For now, in the Premium & Mid Priced Forwards, my Top 3 ranking would be โ€“

  1. Erling Haaland (15.5)
  2. Joao Pedro (7.5)
  3. Alexander Isak (9)
