Welcome to another edition of the FPL Captaincy Metrics, as we look ahead to Gameweek 2. With the season opener behind us, there are plenty of intriguing options for the armband, with the usual premium names joined by a few interesting alternatives. Without further ado, let’s see who tops the metrics for GW2.

FPL GW2 Captaincy Metrics
Bruno Fernandes tops the captaincy poll for the first week with 37% of the votes against Ipswich (H). Erling Haaland is second with 26% of the votes as he visits Crystal Palace. Cole Palmer is third in the captaincy poll this week as he welcomes Brighton. Teammate Joao Pedro is fourth with 7% of the votes, and Tzolis finds himself fifth in the captaincy list. as he travels to struggling Aston Villa.

Underlying Numbers of the FPL Gameweek 2 Captain Picks
For this analysis, we have used GW1 stats of the current season and will be adding stats of every gameweek until GW6. Post GW 6, we will revert to the last 6 matches criteria.
Erling Haaland tops the table with 4 shots in the box, 1 big chance, and an xG of 0.74 in the last game.
Joao Pedro is 2nd with an xG of 0.63 in the last game. He’s also had 1 big chance and 3 shots inside the box.
Palmer is 3rd with an xG of 0.28 in the last game. He’s had 1 big chance and has had 4 shots inside the box.
Tzolis stands 4th with an xG of 0.19, managing 3 shots inside the box and 0 big chances.
Finally, Bruno stands 5th with an xG of 0.08, managing no shots inside the box and no big chances in total.
Underlying numbers of candidate teams
Manchester City take the top spot and have registered 2.25 xG, 4 Big Chances, and 11 Shots inside the box in their opening game
Chelsea are up next with 13 shots inside the box and 4 big chances during the period, and an xG of 2.24.
Arsenal are fourth with 10 shots inside the box and 1 big chance during the period, and an xG of 1.88.
Finally, Manchester United are last with 15 shots inside the box and 2 big chances, and an xG of 1.83.

Fixture Difficulty of the Candidate Team in FPL GW2
In the Third Phase of the Article, we look at the Fixture Difficulty of our 5 Candidates.
We will use FantasyFootballHub’s odds for the candidate’s Team’s Expected Goals and the odds of the opposition keeping a clean sheet.
Manchester United are top and have 2.10 xG odds, and their opposition has a 12% chance to keep a clean sheet as per the market odds.
Arsenal and Manchester City are both second and have 1.70 xG odds, and their opposition has an 18% chance to keep a clean sheet as per the market odds.
Lastly, Chelsea are last with 1.50 xG odds, and their opposition has a 23% chance to keep a clean sheet as per the market odds

Projections Rank of our FPL Gameweek 2 Captain Picks
In the fourth phase of the article, we have used the Projected Points tool available at Fantasy Football Hub.
Bruno Fernandes is first with a points projection of 6.7 in FPL Gameweek 2 vs Ipswich (H).
Haaland is second with a 6.2 points projection in FPL Gameweek 2 vs Crystal Palace (A).
Palmer is third with 4.8 projected points this Gameweek vs Brighton (H).
Teammate Joao Pedro is fourth with a projection of 4.7 points against Brighton (H).
Finally, Tzolis is last with a projection of 4.5 points in FPL Gameweek 2 vs Aston Villa (A).

Erling Haaland is again top of the captaincy metrics with a cumulative rank factor of 6. Bruno, Joao Pedro and Palmer are all second with a CRF value of 12 each. Finally, Tzolis is last with a CRF value of 15.
