FPL GW1 was a mixed week overall with some Big Differential Hauls, Some High owned players like Bruno and Haaland blanking. In this article, the founders of AllAboutFPL – Surya and Srini will discuss their FPL GW2 Selection- Highlighting their Drafts, Watchlist, and Strategy for GW2 and beyond.

FPL GW2 Drafts and Team Reveal
Srini’s GW2 Team Selection
GW1 Review:
It was a pretty disappointing week to start the season with Manchester United Double up + Wirtz all blanking. Wirtz, Maguire and Ballard were supposed to be the Big differentials for my team but all of them flopped. Ballard got a yellow, conceded 2 goals vs Ipswich while Maguire conceded 2 goals vs Hull City and both of them failed to him DEFCON. Wirtz was subbed off at 62′ minutes which is a slight concern.
Coming to the positives- Joao Pedro and Szoboszlai were the players who returned from attack. Joao Pedro got a goal, assist while Szoboszlai scored a penalty. Happy to have got them and plan to hold them for the longer run as both of them should consistently tick along. Muharemovic is another pick I really like long term(Leeds defense looked really solid) and almost scored from a set piece as well.
GW2 Bus Team
The transfers decision is straight forward as I am going to roll the transfer for this week very likely(Unless there are new injury concerns from Press Conference). Most of the team picks itself for GW2. The main decision is starting two from Muharemovic/Thomas/Ballard. At the moment, I am starting Thomas vs HUL(H) and Ballard vs FUL(H) and benching Muharemovic vs BRE(H). Coventry have the 4th Highest Clean Sheet Projections for GW2 with a 32% chance of a clean sheet and only behind Arsenal, Man City and Man United. Thomas is also good for DEFCON as seen in GW1 where he hit 10 DEFCONs to fetch an additional 2 points.
Even though Leeds defense is solid and I really like Muharemovic for the long-term, I am likely to bench him this week as they are up against a rampant and in form Brentford side who have scored 20 goals from the last 4 games(including friendlies). Even though Friendlies make a huge chunk of the data, GW1 was another example as they accumulated 3.55 xG, 6 Big Chances and 20 Shots inside the box vs Spurs- Highest for all the metrics in GW1.
It is a much more closer contest between Muharemovic and Ballard for the final starting spot though but I am going with Ballard at the moment vs FUL(H).

The Team is rated 94% on the Fantasy Football Hub(FFHUB) Free AI Team Rating Tool and predicted to score 58.6 points in GW2.

The FFHUB AI Tool also recommends rolling the transfer for my team this week and it validates my decision making further.

GW2 Transfer Plans and Watchlist
As mentioned above, the plan is to roll the transfer for this week as the team looks quite good. My FPL Watchlist in GW2 who potential transfer targets in the coming weeks will be:
- Sangare(5.6)- 🅰️🅰️, DEFCON Points, 3 Bonus in GW1. The new Elliot Anderson..🤔👀
🔹3 Goals, 4 Assists, 5.33 xGI from 29 starts for RC Lens in Ligue 1
🔹14.2 DEFCON/90…😯
2. De Cuyper(4.5)- The £4.5 Defender who is basically playing as a LW winger for Brighton. De Cuyper Data in GW1:
- 4 Shots
- 3 SiB
- 2 Big Chances
- 1.40 xG
- 3 Chances Created
- 1.58 xGI
- 11 Touches inside the Box
- 2 Corners Taken
Will be keeping a close eye on Mitoma/Minteh injury & Transfer news. If they are out for a while, De Cuyper is surely an option to consider from GW3 where they have a fixture run playing LEE(H(, COV(A), SUN(A) in 3 out of the 4 weeks. GW2 is a difficult fixture vs Chelsea so wouldn’t rush into buying him at the moment but will monitor.
3. Rayan Cherki(7.5)- Rayan Cherki came on as substitute vs Palace in GW1 and inspired a City comeback to help them win 2-1. Despite playing only 27 minutes, Cherki looked superb and got 2 assists with 4 chances created including 1 big chance created. He has also got minutes in his belt so he should be starting games sooner than later. GW3 is a good entry point with COV(H) in GW3 and SUN(H) in GW5 for Rayan Cherki.
Captaincy
The Captaincy is on Haaland at the moment who failed to return in GW1. Even though he blanked he had good underlying data- 5 Shots, 1 Big Chance and 0.76 xGI. On another day, he could have had a 10-12 point haul easily. Palace defense also didn’t look great in the 2-0 loss vs Everton. It is still very close between Bruno and Haaland with Bruno having the home fixture vs Ipswich. The arm band is on Haaland right now as it stands.

Surya’s GW2 Team Selection
GW1 Review:
Happy with a solid start to the season with most of the picks I backed returning- Ben White, Calafiori and Tzolis are the three Arsenal picks in my team and all of them returned. I am feeling quite confident with the Arsenal Triple up I have heading into GW2. Joao Pedro(11 points) and Muharemovic(6 Points) were the other returns. Ajer hit DEFCON and got a clean sheet for a 8 pointer but he was on my bench. No complaints though as I am happy with the score and happy to hold him for the upcoming games.

GW2 Bus Team
The transfers decision is straight forward as I am going to roll the transfer for this week very likely(Unless there are new injury concerns from Press Conference). However there is a big benching dilemma to resolve. There is a good argument to start any of the two among Ajer/Thomas/Tzolis/Muharemovic/Le Fee. I am right now benching Thomas and Ajer as it stands. Brentford are in excellent attacking form but I am backing Leeds to shut them out especially at home where they are really good.

- Arsenal- 12.67
- Bournemouth- 12.93
- Manchester United- 20.43
- Leeds United- 21.08
- Brighton- 21.69
I am not a big fan of benching Le Fee this week even though he blanked vs IPS in GW1. Le Fee is someone who is on penalties, on some set pieces and also plays in an advanced No.10 role. Up against a Fulham side who are not afraid to commit people forward, I expect Sunderland to score a couple of goals and Le Fee to be involved in it.

The Team is rated 94% on the Fantasy Football Hub(FFHUB) Free AI Team Rating Tool and predicted to score 58.4 points in GW2. The optimized team from Hub prefers starting Ajer over Muharemovic but I do prefer otherwise even though it is very close.

GW2 Transfer Plans and Watchlist
As mentioned above, the plan is to roll the transfer for this week as the team looks quite good. My FPL Watchlist in GW2 who will be potential transfer targets in the coming weeks are:
- Cole Palmer(9.5)/Rogers(7.5): Plan to watch them for few more weeks- BHA(H) and ARS(A) in GW2 and GW3 before targeting them for their fixture run from GW4 starting with HUL(H). All three of Chelsea attackers returned in GW1. Two more weeks will hopefully help to make a decision between picking Palmer/Rogers or even both for the good fixture run from GW4.
- Castagne(4.5), Iwobi(5.5) and Gonzalo Garcia(6.0)– Fulham have an excellent fixture run from GW6-GW8 where they play all the 3 promoted sides. Castagne looked very attacking in a free flow Fulham team and also got a goal in GW1. Iwobi will be on set pieces, corners and usually ticks along consistently. Garcia is someone who has good potential averaging 0.62 xGI/90 last season in La Liga, could be on penalties too. All three are good value picks in their positions from GW6. Need to watch the next 3-4 weeks on who will be the right Fulham asset before jumping in.

Captaincy
I fully expect Manchester United to bounce back at Home in GW2 vs Ipswich. Bruno Fernandes is projected to score 6.8 points in GW2 according to Predicted Points from Fantasy Football Hub and beats Haaland. I also get the upside with going for Haaland and that argument is good as well. At home expect a reaction from Carrick’s men where they should get few goals. I will take a look at the weekly Captaincy Metrics before making the final decision.
