Except for Palmer, none of the Top 10 scorers from GW1 had an ownership above 10%.
Even more importantly, of the 12 most premium FPL assets, only three — Saka, Palmer and Gabriel – returned in GW1, meaning nine of them blanked.
That is not going to happen every week.
So, don’t panic. Don’t pivot. Don’t rage-transfer. Trust the process.
There were reasons you settled on your GW1 team after weeks of research, analysis and deliberation. One bad Gameweek doesn’t suddenly make all that work irrelevant. Trust your own judgement and, most importantly, don’t make transfers simply because you’re frustrated with your GW1 score.

FPL GW2 Transfer Tips: Players to BUY
Arsenal Avengers
Ben White (£5.5m) – DEF, Arsenal – 6.1% TSB
Christos Tzolis (£6.5m) – MID, Arsenal – 25.8% TSB
Arsenal’s defence looked every bit as formidable as we expected in GW1, and White offers something particularly interesting on top of that defensive potential.
He not only provides access to Arsenal’s clean-sheet potential but also posted the second-highest xGI among Arsenal players in GW1, behind only Saka.
At just 6.1% ownership, you’re also getting a genuine differential with significant upside.
If you’re looking for an Arsenal defender who can deliver at both ends of the pitch, White should be very high on your list.
Tzolis is another Arsenal attacker who caught my eye in GW1, recording the third-highest xGI in the Arsenal squad, just behind White.
And the timing is particularly appealing.
Arsenal face an Aston Villa side that could be without several of their key players, with Rogers, Konsa and Tielemans leaving the club, Onana and Manzambi injured, and Watkins and Emi Martínez also doubts.
That could create perfect conditions for Arsenal’s attackers to thrive, and Tzolis has already shown enough underlying threat to make him an intriguing GW2 option.
PS: If you have the money, you can always upgrade Tzolis to Saka. We certainly wouldn’t complain about that move.

Yoane Wissa (£6.0m) – FWD, Newcastle – 2.8% TSB
Looking for a low-owned forward with genuinely strong underlying numbers?
Wissa could be your guy.
Among forwards, he ranks inside the Top 5 for shots, big chances, xG, xGI, NPxGI and assists — pretty much every attacking metric you could ask for.
And then comes the fixture.
Newcastle face Spurs, who currently rank in the Bottom 5 for xGC, expected clean sheets and goals conceded.
At just 2.8% ownership, Wissa gives you the perfect combination of form, underlying numbers, fixture and differential potential.
Don’t overthink this one. If you’re looking for a way to gain rank without joining the template, Wissa could be a very tasty GW2 punt.
FPL GW2 Transfer Tips: Players to Monitor
Chelsea Champions
João Pedro (£7.6m) – FWD, Chelsea – 66.7% TSB
Cole Palmer (£9.5m) – MID, Chelsea – 14.0 TSB
Morgan Rogers (£7.5m) –D, Chelsea – 25.7% TSB
Despite their electric performance in GW1, I would think twice (or thrice) to bring in Palmer, João Pedro or Rogers this week.
Yes, Chelsea looked excellent against Fulham. But we need to put that performance into context. Brighton are a completely different proposition.
They were among the three best defences in the Premier League last season for both goals conceded and xGC, and they’ve picked up where they left off. In GW1, Brighton allowed their opponents zero shots on target. They also face Arsenal in GW3 at the Emirates which is another tricky fixture.
So while Chelsea’s attackers remain excellent FPL assets, GW2 is not the week to chase their points simply because they delivered in GW1. GW4 offers a better entry point for Chelsea attackers when they face Hull City at Stamford Bridge.
If you already own them, that’s a different story. But if you’re considering buying them, I would suggest you wait.

FPL GW2 Transfer Tips: Players to SELL
Morgan Gibbs-White (£8.0m) – MID, Nott’m Forest – 9.5% TSB
This one is a little more straightforward.
Gibbs-White has picked up a knee injury and will miss Forest’s League Cup game against Leeds.
There is still hope that he recovers in time for the weekend, but at this stage, there is no guarantee he’ll be available.
And even if he does make a quick recovery, the fixture run isn’t exactly screaming “hold”.
Forest face Liverpool, Spurs and Aston Villa in their next three Premier League games.
So you’re potentially looking at a player with an injury doubt, followed by a difficult run of fixtures.
Fitness uncertainty + tough fixtures = sell.
If you have a straightforward route to another good midfielder, this is one transfer we’d be comfortable making.

FPL GW2 Transfer Tips: Players to HOLD
Manchester Magicians
Bruno Fernandes (£12.0m) – MID, Man Utd – 49.1% TSB
Bryan Mbeumo (£8.0m) – MID, Man Utd – 36.5 TSB
We know GW1 was disappointing.
But if you bought Bruno and/or Mbeumo, there was a very clear reason behind it: Manchester United had two promoted sides in their opening two fixtures.
One bad Gameweek shouldn’t suddenly make us forget that logic.
More importantly, United now return home, and we expect them to respond after a below-par opening performance. There is a strong chance the lessons from GW1 have been learned, and a reaction could be coming.
The underlying numbers are encouraging too.
Despite United’s poor performance, Mbeumo still ranks inside the Top 5 midfielders for both xGI and NPxGI.
And Bruno showed exactly why he won the POTY of last season. He was the only player in GW1 to complete at least 35 final-third passes — nobody else even reached 30.
That’s not the profile of a player we want to sell after one blank.
Hold.
The fixtures, underlying numbers and expected role are still there. Give them another week before reaching for the transfer button.
