Best FPL Goalkeepers to Target For The 2026/27 FPL Season

In this post on the Best FPL Goalkeepers to Target For The 2026/27 FPL Season, we’ll be taking a look at the goalkeeping options at each price point and presenting the best options to target for FPL GW1 and beyond. The goalkeeper is an often overlooked position in FPL, with many managers choosing to set-and-forget their goalie to focus on more exciting players in advanced positions. This disregard for the humble goalkeeper is a strategic error, as ‘keepers can offer huge hauls and consistent points for engaged FPL managers. Raya (ยฃ6.0m), for example, scored more points than O’Reilly last season, while Burnley’s Dubravka made 127 saves over the course of the season, that’s a potential 40 points just from saves!

Having analysed the fixtures, prices, stats and underlying data, this is our definitive list of the Best FPL Goalkeepers to Target For The 2026/27 FPL Season…

Best FPL Goalkeepers to Target For The 2026/27 FPL Season

Premium FPL Goalkeepers to Target

David Raya (ยฃ6.0)

Raya is the most expensive goalkeeper in FPL this season, receiving a 0.5m increase on his starting price from last season after Arsenal’s impressive clean sheet record last campaign. If you are looking for a set-and-forget ‘keeper then I don’t think it gets much better than Raya… Having picked up the most points (162) and most clean sheets (17), selecting the Arsenal goalie is an effective choice between the sticks and will surely reap similar rewards this season too.

FACT: Raya was the 17th highest scoring player in FPL last season!

The Spanish ‘keeper is also a good option for those of us looking for a ‘cheap’ way into the Arsenal defence. Gabriel’s eye-watering price tag has sent many managers in search of a more affordable Arsenal defensive option, with many settling on Mosquera (due to Saliba’s injury), but when the frenchman returns to action he will surely become the template pick. Raya offers 0 attacking threat and 0 DEFCON threat, meaning that owners are relying exclusively on clean sheets for points – this is not a bad thing, but it is something to keep in mind. While other options on this list offer diverse point scoring possibilities, Raya offers solidity and a way into the Arsenal defence, nothing more. That being said, Raya still produces enough saves to regularly collect bonus points, scoring 11 BP (2nd highest among goalkeepers) last season.

Raya fpl

The gunners face promoted Coventry in GW1 before taking on Villa (who many are touting to under-perform due to their transfer activity, injury issues and general stagnation) in GW2. The trickiest fixture of their first five comes in GW3 with a home game against Chelsea, before two more moderate games against Sunderland and Brighton. Arsenal’s defensive record sin Saliba is significantly worse than when he’s in the team, thus rendering Arsenal and Raya less attractive options for the first few weeks of the season. Some managers will feel they need Raya + Mosquera/Califiori to cover for Gabriel, but considering the fixtures and the uncertainty shrouding Arsenal’s backline due to injury and transfer activity, one may be enough for the start of the new season.

Gianluigi Donnarumma (ยฃ5.5m)

In a similar vein to Raya, Manchester City’s Donnarumma offers a moderately cheap way into one of the best defences in the league. Gigi comes in at 0.5m cheaper than Raya however, making him a more palatable option for the many FPL managers trying to fit Gabriel, Haaland and Bruno all into their team… City conceded the second fewest goals and kept the second most clean sheets in the league last season, beating third place Pickford by 4 clean sheets and 22 goals against. City were by far and away the second best defence in the league last season, so Donnarumma is certainly one to keep an eye on going into the new campaign.

City’s defensive makeup has changed over the summer with Stones leaving and a new manager taking the helm. The likely back four is as follows (from right to left)… Nunes, Guehi, Gvardiol, O’Reilly. The right back and right centre back are up for debate, as Khusanov showed himself to be a solid option in both positions towards the end of last season and has looked good in pre-season, while Dias will hope to take a centre back spot as well. The only thing we know for sure is that Gvardiol will almost certainly start – as he recently signed a new contract and is one of the central ‘pillars’ of the Maresca project – other than that it’s anyone’s guess. Regardless, this is a very good group of defenders protected by a decent midfield in a team which will no doubt dominate possession and limit shots on goal to a minimum.

FACT: Under Maresca, Chelsea conceded the third fewest goals (43) and their ‘keeper Rob Sanchez kept the joint fifth most clean sheets (10) in the 2024-2025 season.

Donnarumma comes in at ยฃ5.5m which prices him competitively with City’s other starting defenders. Gvardiol is likely to be a popular option in teams come GW1, but if you’re looking for a set and forget asset, Donnarumma could certainly be a good choice! City face two new managers at Crystal Palace and then Bournemouth in FPL GW1 and GW2 before welcoming newly promoted Coventry in GW3. In FPL GW4 the Citizens travel to Old Trafford for the first Manchester Derby of the season before playing Sunderland in FPL GW5. It’s a good run of fixtures (derby aside) and should be a fairly soft ball introduction for the new manager and system.

Mid-Priced FPL Goalkeepers to Target

Lammens (ยฃ5.0m)

Currently the third most selected goalkeeper in FPL, Manchester United’s Lammens makes this list in large part due to his team’s favourable fixtures for the start of the new season. United face Hull (a) and Ipswich (h) in FPL GW1 and GW2, making their FPL assets very attractive options for GW1, particularly for those on a BB1/2. Lammens is one of a number of United defensive assets who have featured in pre-season drafts online, with other popular ones including Luke Shaw (ยฃ4.5) and Maguire (ยฃ5.0m).

Lammens showed himself to be a capable shot-stopper and good in build-up for United last season, ending the season on a total of 109 FPL points (he only played 32 matches). Lammens’ 3.4 points per match last season puts him way outside the top 10 for PPM among goalkeepers last season, so why is he such a popular asset this time around? Well, not only are the fixtures good, but United’s form towards the tail end of the season is also a factor…

Between Carrick’s appointment and the end of the season, United picked up more points than any other Premier League side. Yes you read that right, that’s a real stat. In that time they also had the third best xGA in the league (suggesting that the way Carrick set up his team limited opposition attacks to a small number of chances) and the 6th fewest goals conceded. Furthermore, with the midfield signings United have made over the summer and the extra time spent with Carrick on the training ground over the summer their defence will only improve in the coming season.

Robert Sanchez (5.0m)

There’s been a lot of focus on Chelsea’s attackers this season, but there is real value to be had in their defensive assets too – especially Robert Sanchez, who comes in at the low price of just ยฃ5.0m! There’s a lot of hype around Chelsea going into the new season due to the arrival of Xabi Alonso and the big new signings that the ownership have made over the summer, but we should not forget that some of the pre-existing players at Chelsea can be great FPL assets too!

Chelsea’s defence is being somewhat overlooked at the moment due to the uncertainty in personnel which surrounds it at the moment. It’s likely that Xabi will be playing a 4 back rather than a 3 back system, but beyond that we know very little. One imagines that new signing Lacroix will feature heavily, but otherwise it’s a mystery… We’re making a bet here that Rob Sanchez starts between the sticks, but it could also be Jorgenson in GW1 (though they are both priced at ยฃ5.0m so it makes little difference).

Sanchez scored 113 points last season, 11th most out of all goalkeepers and 13 points short of his total from the previous season, but he remains a good FPL option for the upcoming campaign due to the fact that he is a cheap, starting option for one of the best teams in the league in Chelsea. To put it bluntly, Chelsea conceded far too many goals last season (52), which is part of the reason they fell out of Europe in the end, so it’s a bit of a punt to go for Rob Sanchez this time around I’ll admit, but if we’re so hot on Chelsea attackers surely we can back their defensive assets too?

Chelsea play Fulham in GW1 and Brighton in GW2 before a tough fixture against Arsenal in GW3. After that they play Hull at home and Brentford away to complete their first 5 fixtures. It’s a pretty good run (Arsenal aside) and Sanchez could surely come away with 2/3 clean sheets in that time. With the rest of the Chelsea defence up in the air at the moment, if you’re wanting to target their decent early fixture run and believe in Xabi’s ability to turn their defensive fortunes around then Rob Sanchez could be a great option for you!

Other ยฃ5.0m FPL Goalkeepers to Target:

  • Trafford (ยฃ5.0m) – Likely moving to Leeds who put up very good underlying defensive numbers last season and have improved their backline with summer additions. But there are potentially better Leeds defenders at this price point and a possible overpay for a Leeds goalkeeper.
  • Kelleher (ยฃ5.0m) – Second highest scoring goalkeeper last season through a combination of saves, clean sheets and bonus points. Will likely repeat the trick this year as he’s a terrific goalkeeper, but Brentford’s first five are not kind. One to target on a GW6 wildcard with a positive fixture swing in FPL GW8.
  • Roefs (ยฃ5.0m) – Great opening fixture and decent first three but tough GW4 and GW5 against Arsenal and City. Similar to Kelleher, likely to rack up lots of save points but low clean sheet potential. Sunderland over performed their underlying defensive numbers last season so perhaps better to wait and see how they fare early on in this season.

4.5M FPL Goalkeepers to Target

Bart Verbruggen (ยฃ4.5m)

If you’re looking for the standout ยฃ4.5m goalkeeper this season then Bart Verbruggen is probably your man. While Brighton’s defence has changed over the summer, one could argue that their summer additions have only strengthened their backline and clean sheet potential, making Verbruggen an even more attractive option. It may surprise some to discover that Brighton were one of the best defences in the second half of last season, ending the campaign with the third fewest goals conceded (46) and the fourth-best xGC (48.87). Verbruggen himself also impressed, making 106 saves over the course of the season – the third highest total among all goalkeepers. That combination of save points and clean sheet potential gives him multiple routes to returns, making him one of the best budget goalkeepers in the game.

Verbruggen FPL

Brighton lost Jan Paul van Hecke over the summer, but they’ve moved quickly to strengthen their defence, bringing in Leeds’ Struijk and Spurs’ Vuskovic, arguably strengthening their backline overall. Hurzeler was under a lot of pressure in the first half of the season, but came through that tough spell and turned around Brighton’s fortunes with the seagulls now in Europe for only the second time in their history. At ยฃ4.5m, Verbruggen looks like outstanding value and could be this season’s Kelleher…

The fixtures only add to his appeal. Brighton face Aston Villa (H), Leeds (H) and Coventry (A) in three of their opening four matches, giving Verbruggen every chance of starting the season with a couple of clean sheets. Arsenal and Chelsea offer tougher challenges during their first five, but you’d back Verbruggen to get some save points if nothing else in those fixtures. If you’re planning to set-and-forget your goalkeeper without spending big, Verbruggen is one of the best FPL goalkeepers to target.

Antonin Kinsky (ยฃ4.5m)

Kinsky could well be the bargain goalkeeper of the season if he nails down the number one spot at Spurs. There’s still some uncertainty surrounding Tottenham’s goalkeeping situation with Guglielmo Vicario’s future unresolved, but if Kinsky starts GW1 as first choice he’ll immediately become one of the standout ยฃ4.5m options in the game.

While Spurs struggled defensively for large parts of last season, they’ve invested heavily in improving their backline over the summer. The arrivals of Senesi, Robertson, Van Hecke and Tonali add quality and experience to their defence. On paper, Tottenham now have one of the strongest defensive units in the league, and certainly one of the best protecting a ยฃ4.5m goalkeeper! Furthermore, De Zerbi’s style of play needs time to be implemented – a period of time training and drilling his philosophy into the players over the summer will surely only improve Spurs’ chances going into the new season.

Kinsky fpl

Kinsky himself also ended last season in encouraging fashion. After a difficult spell midway through the campaign, the young Czech goalkeeper finished strongly, producing a number of important saves as Spurs secured Premier League survival. If he can carry that form into the new season behind an improved defence, he could prove to be one of the biggest bargains in FPL. The fixtures only strengthen his appeal. Spurs welcome Newcastle, Everton, Aston Villa and Coventry to North London in four of their opening five home matches, giving Kinsky a great opportunity to pick up some early clean sheets and start the season off strongly.

Spurs will be much better this season than the last two seasons. De Zerbi is a great coach and Spurs have only the league and domestic cups to focus on. Their summer business has been good so far and their form towards the end of last season was promising. I could see Spurs challenging for Europe again easily next season and I wouldn’t be surprised if Kinsky ended as one of the best value picks in FPL come the end of the 26/27 campaign.

โšช๐Ÿšจ๐Ÿ—ฃ๏ธDe Zebri on Kinsky:

“We start with Kinsky because he deserves to be the first-choice goalkeeper”

“He is another player with huge potential. He’s mature, has personality and I believe in his qualities.”

Rushworth (ยฃ4.5m)

Rushworth has joined Coventry City from Brighton and could be the first choice goalkeeper(Have an eye on pre-season). While Coventry’s clean sheet potential could be very limited, he is a good option if you are planning on using Bench Boost in GW2 and Wildcard shortly(GW3/GW4/GW6). Coventry play Hull(H) in GW2 where there is a very good chance of a cleansheet.

Budget FPL Goalkeepers Rotation

Verbruggen(4.5) and Kinsky(4.5):

A note on goalkeeper: These two 4.5m goalkeepers (Verbruggen x Kinsky) are a popular rotation pairing for those looking to double up on cheaper options. The two rotate nicely up until GW8, by which point we should have more information on defences and fixtures to target. With many managers looking at an early wildcard around the international break between GW5/6, this pairing could work nicely at the beginning of the season!
