Best FPL Forwards at Each Price Point for the 2026/27 Season

Forwards are always an interesting position in FPL. Every season, there seems to be a debate about whether we should spend big on forwards or load up more on midfielders.

For 2026/27, though, the forward pool looks particularly interesting. We have the obvious captaincy monster in Erling Haaland, proven FPL options like Ollie Watkins and Alexander Isak, several intriguing players around the £6.0m-£8.0m mark, and a handful of budget forwards who could potentially unlock a completely different squad structure.

The key, as always, is identifying talismans, penalty takers, nailed starters and players who are simply too cheap for their underlying numbers. So, as we did last season, let’s go through the forwards at each price point and identify the players worth considering for your Gameweek 1 squad.

Top FPL Forward Picks at every Price Point

£10m+ FPL Forwards

Erling Haaland – Manchester City (£15.5m)

There isn’t really much introduction required here. Erling Haaland enters 2026/27 as the most expensive player in FPL history, but after another monster season, it is difficult to argue that he doesn’t deserve the price tag. He finished 2025/26 with 27 Premier League goals and 8 assists, collecting 239 FPL points and finishing as the highest-scoring player in the game.

The bigger attraction, however, is captaincy. Haaland is the player most likely to be captained in any given Gameweek, particularly when Manchester City have a favourable fixture, and that makes going without him significantly riskier than simply going without another premium forward.

There is also very little mystery about his role. He is City’s focal point, will receive the majority of their best chances and remains one of the best finishers in the league.

One thing that has changed from the original draft is his summer workload. Haaland did play at the 2026 World Cup with Norway, who reached the quarter-finals before losing to England, so he hasn’t had a completely free summer.

That said, Manchester City’s opening three fixtures are Bournemouth at home, Crystal Palace away and Coventry City at home. That’s hardly the sort of start that makes you want to fade him.

At £15.5m, owning Haaland obviously comes with an opportunity cost. But this is one of those situations where the question isn’t really “Can I afford him?” but rather “What am I giving up by not owning him?” For me, Haaland starts the season in the don’t overthink it category.

£8.0m-£9.0m FPL Forwards

This is probably the most interesting price bracket among the forwards. There are several players here with the potential to score like premium forwards, but none comes with Haaland’s combination of security, captaincy potential and explosiveness.

Alexander Isak – Liverpool (£9.0m)

Let’s get the obvious part out of the way first: Alexander Isak can score goals. He showed that during his previous full Premier League campaign, when he finished with 23 goals and six assists for Newcastle in 2024/25. Last season, however, was almost entirely disrupted by injury, meaning his 2025/26 numbers don’t tell us much about what he can actually do over a full campaign.

That’s essentially what you’re paying for with Isak at £9.0m: the expectation that a fit Isak can rediscover the player who was one of the best strikers in the Premier League. The price is therefore less about what he did last season and more about what he can do if he stays fit and gets a consistent run in the Liverpool attack.

That last part is important. Isak is now at Liverpool, and with Hugo Ekitiké still recovering from a serious Achilles injury, his route to regular starts looks considerably clearer than it might otherwise have been.

There are plenty of “ifs” here, but that’s also what makes him interesting. At £9.0m, you aren’t buying a finished product. You’re betting on a potentially elite FPL forward at a price below the premium bracket.

Liverpool’s opening run also gives him a reasonable platform: Newcastle away, Nottingham Forest at home, Ipswich away, Fulham at home and Bournemouth away.

Igor Thiago – Brentford (£8.0m)

Thiago in pre-season: ⚽⚽⚽🅰️

Thiago is perhaps the most interesting forward in this bracket from an FPL perspective.

The first argument against him is obvious: eight of his 22 Premier League goals last season came from penalties. It is unlikely that Brentford will reproduce exactly the same penalty numbers, so expecting another 20-plus-goal season purely from last year’s output would be optimistic.

But that doesn’t mean the goals were a fluke. Even after removing penalties, 14 open-play goals is an excellent return, and Thiago offers something that is particularly useful in FPL: minutes and penalties.

He is capable of playing 90 minutes regularly and should remain heavily involved in Brentford’s attack. That gives him a much safer floor than some of the more explosive but rotation-prone forwards around him.

The underlying numbers are also excellent. Thiago finished second only to Haaland for goals and xG in the Premier League last season with 20.57 xG.

The other thing to keep in mind is his fixture profile. Thiago’s opening run isn’t particularly kind, with Tottenham, Leeds, Sunderland, Bournemouth and Chelsea among his first five. So while he is a player I like, this could be one where patience is rewarded.

Ollie Watkins – Aston Villa (£8.0m)

Ollie Watkins is probably one of the easiest players to overlook in this price range. We’ve seen him score heavily in FPL before, and yet every summer there seems to be another reason why managers convince themselves that this is finally the season to ignore him.

Last season, Watkins still returned 16 goals and four assists despite Aston Villa having an inconsistent campaign. More importantly, his underlying numbers remain extremely strong, with his non-penalty xG per 90 of 0.48 ranking highest among the forwards in this price bracket in your data.

The beauty of Watkins is that there isn’t much mystery involved. He gets minutes, plays in an attacking team and has the movement to consistently get himself into scoring positions. He probably won’t dominate ownership discussions like Haaland or João Pedro, but that could actually make him more appealing. A player with Watkins’ track record doesn’t need to be fashionable to score FPL points.

His opening fixtures aren’t perfect, but there is enough there to make him a legitimate Gameweek 1 option rather than simply a player to revisit later.

Best £7.0m-£7.5m FPL Forwards

João Pedro – Chelsea (£7.5m)

João Pedro is once again doing what João Pedro does best: making FPL managers interested in him before they’ve had enough time to recover from owning him previously.

He finished last season with 177 FPL points in your data, making him the highest-scoring forward in this price bracket. Chelsea also have a favourable opening run, with Fulham, Brighton, Arsenal, Hull and Brentford in their first five.

There is another interesting variable this time around: Xabi Alonso is now in charge at Stamford Bridge. Alonso has already spoken positively about Pedro and his desire to build on an excellent first season at Chelsea.

The problem is consistency. Pedro still blanked in plenty of matches last season, so he isn’t exactly the definition of a reliable weekly starter.

Still, the combination of price, fixtures and attacking potential makes him difficult to ignore. Chelsea also don’t have European competition in 2026/27, which should help from a minutes and workload perspective. Pedro also has 5 goals and 1 assist in the pre-season friendlies so far.

I suspect many managers will simply accept the occasional frustration and start with him anyway.

Viktor Gyökeres – Arsenal (£7.5m)

Gyökeres is one of the more intriguing forwards in the game. His first Premier League season wasn’t quite the explosion many expected, but he still scored 14 goals despite playing only 2,217 minutes.

That is actually the interesting part. His minutes were nowhere near those of the established premium forwards, yet his scoring rate remained excellent. The obvious attraction is Arsenal. If Gyökeres can secure the central striker role consistently, he will be playing for one of the league’s strongest teams and should have no shortage of chances.

The concern is minutes. Arsenal have other options in the forward line (like Havertz), and nobody wants to spend £7.5m on a striker only to discover that his starts are being managed. For now, he is very much a “watch the line-ups” player. If he becomes a genuine 80-90 minute starter, his price could look very cheap very quickly.

Kai Havertz – Arsenal (£7.5m)

Havertz is the kind of player FPL managers love to ignore until he starts scoring. He played only 577 Premier League minutes last season with 2 goals and 3 assists, so there isn’t much point reading too much into his raw numbers. The more important question is whether he can stay fit and establish himself as a regular starter.

When he plays centrally, his positioning gives him access to plenty of high-quality chances, particularly in an Arsenal side that should create plenty of opportunities.

The problem is that Arsenal have several options in the attacking positions, and that makes his minutes far less secure than we’d ideally want from a £7.5m forward – similar to Gyokeres. At this price, though, he becomes interesting if the starting role becomes clear.

Benjamin Šeško – Manchester United (£7.0m)

Šeško scored 11 goals from 1,630 minutes last season, which tells you most of what you need to know about his efficiency. The talent is clearly there, and Manchester United have a lot riding on him becoming the focal point of their attack.

The concern is simply whether he can immediately translate that efficiency into Premier League FPL output. He also has a fitness concern heading into Gameweek 1, which makes him difficult to recommend as a starting pick right now – Mbeumo is mostly like to start up top for Manchester United (as he has in the pre-season friendlies).

But if he becomes a nailed starter and United’s attack improves, £7.0m could look very attractive. He’s one for the watchlist rather than the first draft.

Pre-season update: Sesko is back training. So, that’s another positive. Looking forward to having him back around the group and getting him some minutes as well – Carrick on the press conference ahead of GW1 (21st August)

Omar Marmoush – Manchester City (£7.0m)

Marmoush is an interesting name to add to the conversation at £7.0m. He managed only 56 FPL points last season, but that total needs to be viewed in the context of just 691 minutes. His underlying numbers are considerably more encouraging than the raw points total suggests.

The problem is obvious: he plays for Manchester City. And Manchester City already have Haaland. Marmoush is therefore a player I’d be very interested in if his minutes become secure, but that is highly doubtful. He did score 2 goals recently in a friendly against Athletico Madrid.

If he starts regularly, the £7.0m price could become extremely interesting.

Best £6.0m-£6.5m FPL Forwards

Dominic Calvert-Lewin – Leeds (£6.0m)

Calvert Lewin in pre-season: ⚽⚽⚽🅰️🅰️

If you knew nothing about Dominic Calvert-Lewin other than his 2025/26 numbers, you’d probably wonder why he costs only £6.0m. He scored 14 goals last season, the most of any forward in this price bracket, and actually underperformed his 15.81 xG. His 2,721 minutes and 142 FPL points also make him one of the most productive forwards at this price. He has also scored 3 goals in pre-season so far.

His underlying numbers were particularly encouraging. He ranked among the best forwards for shots in the box and shots on target, while his xG was also among the highest in the league. The other major attraction is penalties. Calvert-Lewin converted penalties for Leeds last season, including multiple decisive spot-kicks, so that route to points is certainly worth considering.

The obvious problem is his injury history. We have seen this story before: DCL looks fit, starts scoring, FPL managers pile in and then his body decides it has other plans. But if he stays fit, there is a very good chance that £6.0m ends up being one of the bargains of the season.

Fixtures are also good at the start: NFO (A), BRE (H), BHA (A), NEW (H) and CRY (H) – 3 home fixtures.

Jean-Philippe Mateta – Crystal Palace (£6.5m)

Mateta somehow continues to be an FPL option. Given how close he came to leaving Crystal Palace earlier in the year, the fact that we’re still discussing him as a potential FPL pick feels like a minor miracle. But the numbers remain difficult to ignore. Mateta scored 114 FPL points last season and posted a 0.46 non-penalty xG per 90, the highest among the £6.0m-£6.5m forwards listed with 2k+ minutes.

The uncertainty around his future is the obvious problem. A player isn’t particularly useful to FPL managers if we’re constantly wondering whether he’s going to be at the club. Still, if he is confirmed as the starter, he could become an excellent option in this price range.

Evanilson – Bournemouth (£6.0m)

Evanilson’s 2025/26 season was frustrating. He managed only six goals despite producing 10.59 xG, meaning his finishing was significantly worse than the chances he was getting. That is simultaneously the biggest criticism and the biggest reason to be interested.

Bournemouth’s style creates chances for their central striker, and Evanilson was heavily involved in those situations. He received 87 passes inside the opposition penalty area and was frequently in dangerous positions. The question is whether he can finally start converting those chances.

His place looks relatively secure for now, but Bournemouth also have European football to contend with this season, which could introduce some rotation concerns later in the campaign. He’s therefore a player I would be happy to monitor rather than immediately lock into my GW1 team.

Bournemouth also have tricky fixtures at the start: MCI (A), EVE (H), NEW (A), BRE (H) and LIV (H).

William Osula – Newcastle (£6.0m)

Osula might actually be the most interesting forward in this price bracket. He started just one of Newcastle’s first 31 league matches last season but then started each of their final seven, scoring five goals in that run. Overall, he finished with seven goals and 76 FPL points.

Osula Stats (GW32- GW38) Last Season:

The underlying numbers are even more encouraging. Osula led Newcastle’s forwards for minutes per shot, shots in the box and big chances, while his 128.9 minutes per goal was comfortably better than Nick Woltemade’s 241.4.

The obvious question is whether those final seven matches were a sign of things to come or simply a short-term run. With Newcastle having moved on from Eddie Howe and Osula now competing with Woltemade and Wissa for attacking minutes, this is a situation worth watching closely.

The fixture list is also pretty kind after the opening Gameweek against Liverpool, with Newcastle facing only three of last season’s top 10 during their first ten matches. At £6.0m, he could become one of the better value forwards if he nails down the role.

Richarlison – Tottenham (£6.0m)

Richarlison is an interesting one. Spurs are now under Roberto De Zerbi, and the Brazilian remains capable of producing goals when given a consistent run through the middle. Solanke also has injury concerns.

He finished last season with 119 FPL points despite playing only 1,954 minutes, which gives you an idea of the upside if he can stay fit and secure regular starts. There is however, plenty of competition for attacking places at Spurs, so the first question isn’t really whether Richarlison can score goals. It’s whether we can trust him to get enough minutes.

For that reason, Spurs assets are probably better assessed over the opening few Gameweeks rather than blindly selected from the start.

Best £5.5m FPL Forwards

Beto – Everton (£5.5m)

Beto actually finished ahead of Thierno Barry for FPL points last season, scoring 104 compared with Barry’s 95. He also produced nine Premier League goals from only 1,551 minutes, making his underlying numbers particularly interesting for the price

Unfortunately, there is a catch. Everton rotated Beto and Barry regularly last season, and neither player did enough to completely take control of the number nine position. Everton’s cautious approach also limits the ceiling of both players.

If Beto gets the nod consistently, he becomes interesting. Until then, I’d rather watch from a safe distance.

Thierno Barry – Everton (£5.5m)

Barry in pre-season: ⚽⚽⚽🅰️

Barry is the other half of Everton’s striker puzzle. He scored eight goals last season and actually accumulated more minutes than Beto, so there is a reasonable argument that he could emerge as the preferred starter.

The problem is that “could” is doing a lot of work here. As mentioned earlier, neither Barry nor Beto established himself as the undisputed first-choice striker, and Everton’s attacking approach doesn’t exactly give us unlimited opportunities for goals.

At £5.5m, however, a nailed Barry would become immediately interesting. The important part is therefore not trying to predict the winner of the battle now. It’s waiting to see who wins it.

Georginio Rutter – Brighton (£5.5m)

Rutter is an interesting FPL case because he was reclassified as a forward for 2026/27 after frequently playing centrally last season. He scored three goals and supplied five assists from 20 starts last season, which isn’t exactly spectacular forward output.

But with Danny Welbeck now gone, he could have a much bigger role in Brighton’s attack. The other contender is 19-year-old Charalampos Kostoulas, who had limited minutes last season but showed flashes of his potential. Brighton also have European football this season, and Fabian Hürzeler hasn’t completely ruled out adding another striker, so there are plenty of moving parts.

Update: Brighton have signed Promise David on loan from Belgian Pro League club Union Saint-Gilloise, and he’s most likely, which makes Rutter & Kostoulas a no-go.

Haji Wright – Coventry (£5.5m)

Wright is probably the most interesting newly promoted forward at this price. He scored 17 goals for Coventry in the Championship last season and finished with an xG of 18.3, the highest in the division. He also started 31 of Coventry’s 40 league matches and finished with 2,575 minutes, so this isn’t a player who relied purely on short substitute appearances.

The concern is obvious: the Championship and Premier League are two very different things. Wright also faces competition from Ellis Simms and Brandon Thomas-Asante, both of whom scored 13 goals in the Championship last season. Fixtures are also tricky as they face both Arsenal and Manchester City in the first 3, however they do have the Hull fixture in GW2 which has led to a lot of Bench Boost GW2 interest.

Transfer Update: Coventry have also signed Awoniyi, who should be the starting striker at least until Wright returns. It remains to be seen, however, if Awoniyi starts right away in GW1 or not. In any case, he should be in the 11 for GW2 when they play Hull City at home for those interested in GW2 BB.

Oli McBurnie – Hull (£5.5m)

McBurnie was one of Hull’s standout players during their promotion campaign. He scored 17 goals and added seven assists in the regular Championship season despite missing around two months through injury, before scoring the decisive goal in the play-off final.

He’s also expected to remain heavily involved from the spot, which immediately makes him more attractive at £5.5m.

The issue is supply. Hull’s attacking numbers were not particularly impressive even in the Championship, and the step up to the Premier League will only make chance creation harder.

There is also a question mark over whether his previous Premier League record tells us anything useful. He scored only 13 goals across three seasons with Sheffield United, but his role at Hull is different now: he is the focal point rather than simply another attacker.

£4.5m-£5.0m FPL Forwards

Every season we arrive at this section hoping that FPL has accidentally handed us a starting Premier League striker for £4.5m. Every season, FPL usually laughs at us. There are a few names worth keeping an eye on, but at the moment this price range looks more like a place for bench fodder than a source of genuine attacking value.

There are several young forwards in this bracket, including players such as Furo, Mheuka, Kusi-Asare, Walle Egeli, Danns, Obi and Neave. The problem is that most are either expected to go out on loan, are unlikely to receive regular Premier League minutes, or sit behind established forwards in their respective squads.

That could obviously change quickly during the final stages of the transfer window. For now, though, there isn’t a player in this bracket screaming “pick me”. I’d rather spend the extra £0.5m if it gives us a genuine starting forward.

Final Thoughts – Best FPL Forwards for 2026/27

The forward position looks much more interesting this season than it did at first glance. At the very top, Haaland is in a category of his own. Paying £15.5m is painful, but the combination of goals, minutes and captaincy potential makes him the safest premium forward in the game.

The real decisions begin underneath him. Isak and Watkins offer two very different routes at £9m and £8m, while Thiago provides a particularly interesting combination of minutes, goal threat and penalties. Then there is the £7.0m-£7.5m range, where João Pedro, Gyökeres and Havertz could all explode if their minutes are secure.

At £6.0m-£6.5m, Calvert-Lewin is probably the standout value pick, with Evanilson, Osula and Richarlison offering different versions of the same gamble: can they combine enough minutes with enough attacking involvement to outperform their price?

And then we get to the £5.5m forwards, where the search is much simpler. Find someone who starts. Find someone who takes penalties. Preferably find someone who does both.

The good news is that we don’t necessarily need to pick our forwards based purely on season-long potential. Fixture swings, injuries and changes in the starting XI will constantly create new opportunities.

So don’t be afraid to start with one combination and move to another.

The one thing I’d avoid is spending £5.5m-£7.0m on a forward purely because he’s “good value” if you’re not confident he’ll actually play. Because in FPL, there’s nothing quite as expensive as a cheap player sitting on your bench.
