Differentials for MD6/Quarter Finals
Digne ($5 – 2.7%) – France
Digne keeps his spot in this list as we still believe that he represents huge value in FIFA World Cup fantasy going into the Quarter Finals. As written in last weeks post, France’s defensive stats for this World Cup are exceptional, keeping 3 clean sheets in 5 matches thus far, most recently against Paraguay in MD5. Digne started that match in the round of 16 against Paraguay, playing the full 90 minutes and gifting the 2% of managers that currently own him a sweet 9 point haul (thanks to a CS and the scouting bonus).
As illustrated in the previous post, Digne’s attacking potential is limited, and it is instead his defensive reliability which is valued so highly by manager Deschampes. Digne failed to create any chances against Paraguay, but he did contribute defensively (9 DEFCON), aiding France’s defensive astuteness and clean sheet potential going forwards. France face Morocco in MD6/Quarter Finals, in what will be by no means an easy fixture, but it is one that we should expect France to overcome nonetheless.
Baena ($6 – 2%) – Spain
Baena enters the list of differentials after another solid performance on the left wing for Spain in the RO16 against Portugal. Baena picked up just 4 points in MD5 thanks to his tackle points and a CS, following on from an assist in MD4 and a goal in MD3. The athletico Madrid forward has nailed down that left wing spot in Williams’ absence, making him an attractive option going forwards in this competition.
Against Portugal in MD5 Baena took the most shots of any player (3), 2 of which were from inside the box. The Spain attack is nowhere near its potential at the moment, but with Yamal slowly finding his feet again in the team, now is the time to invest heavily into their attack! Spain had 15 shots and well over 1xG against a strong Portugal side in the last round and will be pleased that they will be facing a weaker European side (as opposed to a host nation in the USA) in the quarters.

Nusa ($6.1 – 1.8%) – Norway
Nusa wowed the world with his wonder goal against the Ivory Coast in MD4, opening the scoring against the very strong African nation who started the game very well. Haaland has since taken all of the praise (and quite rightly so), but Nusa deserves his flowers for his performances thus far and should certainly be in consideration for our FIFA World Cup fantasy teams. Odegaard should also be considered due to his superb underlying numbers, but there’s a very good reason that we’ve included Nusa for Norways match against England…
The three lions have had lots of issues at right back this tournament and have played at least 4 different players in that role across their 5 matches thus far. This has of course created a lot of chaos in the back line, and has added to their defensive issues. Many of Mexicos chances came from crosses from the left half space targeting the right back/ right centre back area of englands backline – clearly this had been identified as a weak point. Nusa is a direct dribbler with pace and tricks good enough to confuse some of the worlds best, never mind a makeshift right back; I can see him causing major issues for whoever Tuchel selects in that role.
Barcola ($8 – 4.2%) – France
Barcola is the second player in this list to keep his place from last weeks article, joining French teammate Digne in our MD6/Quarter finals differentials post. As I wrote in last weeks post, “Barcola has become the left winger of choice for Deschamps at this tournament. Having been benched in MD1 in favour of Doue, Barcola worked his way back into the team and has shown himself to be a capable option on the left wing.” This remains true, as Barcola played 60 minutes against Paraguay in the RO16, creating 2 chances and taking 1 shot.
FACT: Barcola is third in the France squad for xG/90…
In MD6 France face Morocco and Barcola will be up against Hakimi on the left wing, a player who likes to stride forwards at every opportunity and could therefore leave gaps in behind. Fundamentally, Barcola is an elite attacker playing for the best attacking team in the competition who has the added bonus of offering owners Scouting bonus points thanks to his sub 5% ownership. He offers incredible value and huge points potential for a team that are likely to go far in this tournament.

Gordon ($7 – 1.7%) – England
Gordon was pretty disappointing in the first few group games of the World Cup and was under a lot of pressure for his spot in the team by Rashford and Madueke, since then however he has made a huge difference to this England attack, contributing 2 assists in that last gasp win against the Congo and winning a penalty against Mexico in MD5. Norway’s fullbacks often venture up the pitch to help in attacking play, so Gordon may well be able to exploit some of the space in behind, as Vinicius did in MD5.
FACT: Gordon has the joint most assists in the England squad (3 if you include him winning a penalty in MD5)
He is a possible rotation risk, but it’s looking more and more likely that he’s Tuchels preferred option at LW. It’s a risk, but its certainly one worth taking!
