Best Teams & Players to Target: Group E

(Germany, Curacao, Ivory Coast & Ecuador)

One of the easiest groups this year for Germany, as they are expected to finish as the top team here and to advance to the next round with no difficulty. Although J. Kimmich ($5.5m-DEF) & D. Raum ($4.9m-DEF) are clear defensive options with possible attacking returns, there is no obvious pick among their midfielders and forwards. F. Wirtz ($7.5m-MID), L. Sane ($7.4m-MID), J. Musiala ($8.5m-MID), K. Havertz ($7.8m-FWD), or even D. Undav ($6.6m-FWD) & N. Woltemade ($7.2m-FWD) all might start and get big fantasy points but we still don’t know who to consider due to insecurity of their minutes (or even starting the match), although the first four names are more likely to start for Germany.

So, either of them might award you with big fantasy points, especially in their first match against Curacao, one of the weakest sides of the tournament. Ecuador is the next team to focus on in this group, with W. Pacho ($4.4m-DEF), P. Hincapie ($4.7m-DEF) & P. Estupinan ($4.8m-DEF) in defense, and of course their best striker E. Valencia ($5.9m-FWD), who is available at such a low price, had 8 goal contributions during the qualifications. Ivory Coast and Curacao are the teams to skip fantasy-wise in this group.

Best Teams & Players to Target: Group F

(Netherlands, Japan, Sweden & Tunisia)

Netherlands is expected to have the best performance in this group, with options such as B. Verbruggen ($4.7m-GK) in the goal and defenders like V. van Dijk ($5.5m-DEF) & D. Dumfries ($5.7m-DEF), who are capable of bringing some attacking returns as well as clean sheet points for their owners. In Attack, C. Gakpo ($7.7m-MID) & M. Depay ($7.4m-FOR) both look promising with 8G+A & 12G+A respectively in the qualification matches, which are fantastic numbers among all the European players.

Japan is also doing great recently and will probably finish the group stage above Sweden & Tunisia. Z. Suzuki ($4.3m-GK) & K. Itakura ($4.5m-DEF) seem to be the most reliable defensive options, while T. Kubo ($7.0m-MID), J. Ito ($5.0m-MID) & A. Ueda ($7.0m-FWD) all had at least 10 goal contributions during the qualifying rounds. V. Gyokeres ($7.8m-FWD) is obviously the best pick from Sweden, considering his fantastic recent form in the national team, while I wouldn’t suggest any player for your fantasy team from Tunisia.

Best Teams & Players to Target: Group G

(Belgium, Egypt, Iran & New Zealand)

Belgium is the favorite to win the group and there are many defensive options among their players, like T. Courtois ($4.9m-GK), A. Theate ($4.5m-DEF) & Z. Debast ($4.3m-DEF), while M. De Cuyper ($4.7m-DEF) can also provide attacking returns like his 2G+2A during the qualification matches, if he starts the match for the team. There are also many midfielders and forwards with good records of goal contributions, but K. De Bruyne ($7.5m-MID) & J. Doku ($7.5m-MID) are preferred among them.

M. Salah ($10.0m-MID) is the clear pick from Egypt despite his high price, as he had a great performance as their talisman during the qualifications with 9G+3A, and M. El Shenawy ($3.6m-GK) & M. Rabia ($3.6m-DEF) are trustworthy and cheap among defensive options. M. Taremi ($6.1m-FWD) has the same talisman role for Iran as the Asian player with the greatest number of goal contributions (10G+7A) in the qualification round, and A. Beiranvand ($4.2m-GK) & S. Khalilzadeh ($3.8m-DEF) as best defensive picks. New Zealand is expected not to finish above any other team in this group, but C. Wood ($6.5m-FWD) is surely their best player if you want to back them.

Best Teams & Players to Target: Group H

(Spain, Cape Verde, Saudi Arabia & Uruguay)

Spain, one of the favorites of the tournament, has one of the easiest groups on paper, as they are expected to advance to the next round without any difficulties. U. Simon ($5.0m-GK) & M. Cucurella ($5.1m-DEF) seem to be the safest options in defense based on the record they have in the qualifications. L. Yamal ($10.0m-MID) is the best attacking option following his fantastic season in Barcelona with 24G+17A in all competitions. The only concern about him is whether he is fit to play for Spain in their first match, and D. Olmo ($7.7m-MID) is the other great pick, especially when Yamal is absent.  M. Oyarzabal ($5.0m-FWD) is also always in form for Spain, as his 6 goals & 3 assists during the qualification matches prove it.

Uruguay is expected to finish the group stage as the second team, and S. Rochet ($4.1m-GK) & M. Olivera ($4.3m-DEF) both seem to be reasonable defensive picks, while selecting the correct attacking player is not easy among F. Valverde ($7.5m-MID), G. de Arrascaeta ($6.5m-MID) & D. Nunez ($7.5m-FWD). The latter had the best attacking record in the qualification round with 5 goals and 2 assists, but he is not guaranteed to start for the team. Saudi Arabia and Cape Verde are two weaker sides in this group with no interesting fantasy options among their players.
