Welcome to our FIFA World Cup Fantasy 2026 – Best MD3 Differentials to Target! In this post, we’ll be examining the best differential options for MD3 of the World Cup, focusing on players with low ownership who can offer high returns! We’ll be selecting players with good fixtures based on form, stats, and expected data.

REMINDER: In FIFA World Cup Fantasy 2026, players under 5% ownership that score 4+ points in a given Match Day will get a bonus 2 points called ‘scouting bonus’ – So differentials are truly worth their weight in gold!

Due to the volume of teams (and therefore players) playing at this World Cup, these group stage differential posts are going to be a bit lengthier than our normal differentials pieces, and will be organised by position (about 3-5 options per position). Let’s take a look at some of the Best MD3 Differentials to target…

MD3 Differentials for FIFA World Cup Fantasy 2026

MD3 Differentials – Goalkeepers

Beach ($3.5 – 3.1%) – Australia

Australia have had a mixed tournament so far, winning their first match against Turkey 2-0 before falling to a 2-0 defeat against a very strong USA side, but they’ll be looking at their MD3 fixture against Paraguay as a very winnable one indeed. Paraguay have scored 2 goals so far this tournament from a combined xG of 0.86 across the two matches (0.54xG against USA and 0.32 against Turkey). It is clear, therefore, that Paraguay are a weak side in attack, and with both teams needing a win going into this match, Australia will surely come out on top. Beach has also demonstrated some awesome goalkeeping skills across his two matches thus far, making some amazing saves in both games (particularly against Turkey), adding a possibility of save points to his appeal.

Freese ($4.2 – 0.6%) – United States

Remaining in group D, the United States shot stopper, Freese, is an easy inclusion in our MD2 Differentials list. As written above, the US restricted Paraguay (in their first match) to just 1 shot on target and 0.54xG, before shutting out Australia in MD2 (0.35xG and 2 shots on target). Under Pochettino, the USMNT are proving to be a serious outfit, demonstrating a supreme attacking display in MD1 before showing off their defensive prowess in MD2. Freese got 9 points in MD2 thanks to his clean sheet and scouting bonus, and another 9+ haul is certainly on the cards when the US face a Turkey side that have likely already crashed out of the WC in MD3 (Turkey are winless and goalless in their first two games).

FACT: USA have faced just 1 big chance so far this tournament.

Verbruggen ($4.7 – 3.1%) – Netherlands

Onto group F now, where the top of the group, the Netherlands, is facing the bottom of the group, Tunisia, in MD3. Tunisia have scored just 1 goal this tournament (a consolation in MD1 against Sweden) and have produced a combined xG total of 0.33xG across the two matches (0.28 against Sweden and 0.05 against Japan). In MD2 against Japan, Tunisia mustered just 2 shots, 4 fewer than their 6 shots in MD1. The Netherlands on the other hand have been scoring goals for fun, but have, surprisingly, been letting in a few too many so far this campaign. According to xG, they’ve been unlucky to concede as many as three, but their MD3 fixture will doubtless prove the easiest of the three…

MD3 Differentials – Defenders

Dest ($4.3 – 4%) – United States

Dest is an excellent choice for many reasons going into MD3. The USA have shown themselves to be a serious contender so far this tournament, and Dest is a nailed defensive option for his nation. Furthermore, Dest plays in an extremely advanced position at right wing back for the USA, often overlapping and playing more as a right winger, particularly against weaker opposition sides. The defender has been unlucky thus far not to have produced more than his 1 assist, taking 3 shots and creating 2 chances across his 80 minutes on the pitch against Australia in MD2. At 4%, he is unlikely to go over the 5% threshold before MD2, but if he does, Freeman ($4 – 1.4%) is a decent alternative.

Konsa ($4.8 – 1%) – England

England are yet to play in MD2 at the time of writing, but regardless of the result, I am standing firm in my belief that Konsa is an excellent option for Fantasy World Cup. Konsa is a starting (and nailed) defender for one of the favourites of the tournament, and though England did indeed show some defensive fragilities against Croatia in MD1, that is likely their toughest fixture (from a defensive perspective) out of the way. Panama, England’s opponents in MD3, managed 0.73xG against Ghana in MD1 and failed to convert either of their 2 big chances. England, on the other hand, played out a thriller with Croatia, which ended 4-2 – though Croatia only created 0.7xG themselves and had just 4 shots in the box all game. England are still a great defensive side, and Konsa is a nailed starter, rendering him an excellent option in FWC going forward. Even if England do rotate for this match, it is unlikely that Konsa will lose his spot in the team.

Van Hecke ($4.3 – 1.1%) – Netherlands

In a similar vein to Konsa, Van Hecke is a great option for those of us looking to profit from the Netherland’s favourable fixture against Tunisia in MD3. Van Dijk and Dumfries, the favourite options from the Netherlands defense, are obviously well over the 5% threshold (and Van De Ven at 4.3% isn’t far off either), so Van Hecke is the only option for this list. As illustrated in the goalkeeper section, Tunisia is a side that offers little to no attacking threat, making them a side to target in MD3. Their new manager seems to have been unable to turn their fortunes around, and we’re therefore going big on the Netherlands for this round of fixtures.

Mazraoui ($4.4 – 1.8%) – Morocco

Morocco wowed the footballing world with an electric first-half performance against Brazil in MD1 before producing a much more mature showing in MD2 to get past a stubborn Scotland side. Bonnou was included in our GK list for our MD2 differentials and has since shot up to 4.7% owernship at the time of writing, making him less appealing as a differential. Mazraoui is therefore our Morocco defensive pick for their very attractive fixture against a Haiti side that is both winless and goalless going into MD3. While not as attacking as Hakimi on the opposite flank, Mazraoui has shown a willingness to get forwards on occasion, and is a versatile option for a Morocco side which will doubtless be confident of a win going into MD3.

Note that Morocco tends to drop into a midblock without the ball before launching fast, direct attacks. Mazraoui can often be found making over and underlapping runs without the ball and has received the ball in the box (or just outside it) on a number of occasions already this tournament.

Other MD3 Differentials: Defenders

• Guéla Doué ($3.9 – 1%) – Ivory Coast (favourable MD3 fixture and good team defensive numbers)
• Medina ($4 – 1.5%) – Argentina (favourable MD3 fixture and good team defensive numbers)
• De Cuyper ($4.7 – 2.1%) – Belgium (favourable MD3 fixture and averaged 0.71xGI/90 in WC26)

MD3 Differentials – Midfielders

Nmecha ($5.6 – 3.6%) – Germany

Nmecha made our list of MD2 differentials last week and picked up a double-digit haul against the Ivory Coast in MD2 – what more do I need to say? Fortunately, he still sits under the 5% threshold going into MD3 and thus makes the list again, though Germany’s fixture is likely as hard, if not harder, as they face an astute defensive side in Ecuador. Regardless, Nmecha has shown himself to be a diverse point-scoring asset in World Cup fantasy, picking up tackle points in both matches, a goal involvement in both, and points for chances created in his MD2 game as well. The only possible caveat to this is that Germany may rotate their team as they are already through to the knockouts – if this looks increasingly likely, then I would steer clear of Germany assets.

Diaz ($6.4 – 3.5%) – Morocco

As with Nmecha, Diaz is another player who was included in our MD2 differentials piece. Diaz picked up an assist in Morocco’s MD2 fixture against Scotland, making it two assists in two matches for the Real Madrid winger. Diaz created the most chances (3) and had the joint-most touches (5) in the opposition box against Scotland, illustrating why he’s such a good option for World Cup Fantasy. Haiti, Morocco’s opponents in MD3, conceded 5 big chances and 1.75xG against Brazil in MD2, showing that they can be broken down by teams with quality attacking players.

ALTERNATIVE: Saibari also remains a decent option from Morocco as he is playing out of position as their starting CF. That being said, he is slightly closer to the 5% threshold and is a slightly riskier option in that sense.

Summerville ($5.3 – 2.8%) – Netherlands

The Netherlands are could still fail to qualify for the knockouts if they lose their match against Tunisia, and will surely therefore go for a strong starting lineup rather than rotating in some of their squad players. Summerville was benched against Sweden in MD2 but came on at halftime and came up with a goal and an assist for his side in his short time on the pitch (he played the full second half). Those two goal involvements, coupled with his stunning strike in MD1 against Japan, mean that he will surely start over Malen and alongside Brobbey and Gakpo in MD3. Even if he comes off the bench, he surely represents a decent option, as shown in MD2. Reminder that Tunisia have conceded 9 goals across their 2 WC games thus far while the Netherlands have scored 7… Yeah, probably a good idea to get some Netherlands attackers in for this one.

Trossard ($6.6 – 2.1%) – Belgium

The Red Devils face New Zealand in MD3 and need a win to get out of the group and into the knockouts of the World Cup. Belgium currently sit 3rd in their group but will not qualify for the knockouts without a win against New Zealand, a side that have shipped 5 goals across their first 2 matches of the World Cup and sit bottom of their group. Trossard has created 9 chances across his first two games (in which he played 90 minutes in both), averaging 0.47xGI/90 at the competition. He’s been very unlucky not to get at least a couple of attacking returns so far, and is one of the players who will have to step up for this final, crucial game in MD3.

Baturina ($6.5 – 0.6%) – Croatia

Baturina showed his attacking abilities in Croatia’s MD1 fixture against England, scoring an excellent goal from distance against the Three Lions in the first half of that game. He’s an exciting prospect who shone for Como last year and has had a lot of hype around him going into this tournament. He scored 6 goals and produced 3 assists for Como last year in Seria A, but has only recently become a secure starting option for Croatia, having made just 20 appearances for his national side so far – this was only his second goal for them! Croatia face Ghana in MD3 in what is certainly a winnable game, and one which they will need to get 3 points from to secure a spot in the knockouts.

Other MD3 Differentials: Midfielders

• Tillman ($6.1 – 0.4%) – USA (versatile point scorer and good fixture)
• Almada ($6.5 – 0.3%) – Argentina (exciting attacking option and good fixture)
• Metcalfe ($5.3 – 0.3%) – Australia (on set pieces and favourable fixture)

MD3 Differentials – Forwards

Brobbey ($5.7 – 0.5%) – Netherlands

Brobbey dominated against Sweden in MD2, but is a slight injury doubt going into this MD3 fixture against Tunisia. Brobbey was confirmed to have a hamstring injury by his manager in a press conference after the game, but could still start against Tunisia in MD3 as the player himself said he was ‘all good’. That being said, the Netherlands have a number of good attacking options of the bench, so rotation is possible – considering that the Netherlands need to win this game, however, I wouldn’t be surprised to see Brobbey start. The Sunderland striker scored 2 against Sweden in MD2, having only played the last 5 minutes or so in the previous game against Japan.

ALTERNATIVE: Gakpo ($7.7 – 4.4%) is the Netherlands’ star attacking player and managed 2 goals and an assist against Sweden in MD2. That being said, rotation is possible, and his ownership is likely to reach over 5% before the deadline.

Undav ($6.6 – 1.5%) – Germany

Undav was once an FPL favourite asset when he played at Brighton, though from my memory, he was somewhat underwhelming – now he’s coming off the bench at World Cups and scoring crucial goals for his national team! Undav now has 3 goals and 2 assists in his two games at the World Cup, but perhaps more astonishingly, he managed all of that in just 54 minutes (coming off the bench in both games). With rotation likely for Germany in their MD3 game (considering they’re already through), Undav may well start this final group match against Ecuador (and even if he doesn’t, he’ll likely still score!).

FACT: Undav has the most goal involvements at the tournament so far (5), averaging one every 10 minutes…

Ueda ($7 – 0.8%) – Japan

Ueda is our final pick for this MD3 Differentials post as Japan face Sweden in MD3. Both sides need a win, but Japan will surely be more hopeful of a result, considering the two sides’ respective results in MD2. I very nearly included Ueda in the MD2 differentials post, but went for other options in the end – oh what a mistake that was… Ueda scored twice and provided an assist in Japan’s 4-0 victory over Tunisia in MD2. The forward certainly passed the eye-test in Japan’s MD1 fixture against the Netherlands, constantly getting himself into dangerous attacking spaces and ready for low crosses into the box from Japan’s wide players, though the ball rarely found him. In this match against Tunisia, Ueda scored two excellent goals, and his side played some tremendous attacking football throughout. Sweden looked less defensively secure in MD2 than they did in MD1 and will likely find it difficult to keep this well-drilled and free-flowing Japan side out for a full 90…

Other MD3 Differentials: Forwards

• Diomande ($5.9 – 1.5%) – Ivory Coast (excellent fixture and electric performances thus far)
• Irankunda ($5.1 – 0.6%) – Australia (championship baller, favourable fixture)
• Lukaku ($7.4 – 1.8%) – Belgium (favourable fixture and great underlying numbers)
