Best Goalkeepers to Target in FIFA 2026 World Cup Fantasy

In making your final World Cup fantasy selections, one position that cannot be overlooked is the goalkeeping position. In this article, we’ll list the best goalkeepers to target for the group stage of the FIFA 2026 World Cup.

Thibaut Courtois (Belgium) $4.9m | TSB: 12.1% ownership

Group Stage Fixtures: Egypt, IR Iran, New Zealand

The 34-year-old has 108 caps and 55 clean sheets to his name for the Belgian Red Devils. Thibaut Courtois brings in a wealth of experience standing in goal for Belgium as he features in his fourth World Cup tournament since 2014. The Real Madrid shot-stopper recently kept a clean sheet in the 2-0 victory against Croatia and will be set to replicate a string of clean sheets in Group D.

When to Target: Despite Courtois’ experience, I only see him featuring in the first two matches against Egypt and Iran. If the Belgians finish with four to six points after Matchday 2, I believe his deputy, Senne Lammens ($4.6m), will get some minutes in the last group game against New Zealand.

Unai Simón (Spain) $5m | TSB: 6.7% ownership

Group Stage Fixtures: Cape Verde, Saudi Arabia, Uruguay

Although Arsenal’s David Raya ($5m) won the Golden Glove award for a third season in a row. When it comes to Spain, Unai Simón is the one favoured in goal by manager Luis de la Fuente. Think of it like the Ederson vs. Alisson debate for Brazil, where Alisson is the No. 1 choice among two excellent goalkeepers.

Unai Simon was solid in goal for Spain during the Euro 2024 contest, keeping 10 clean sheets in 12 appearances. Simon also started all six matches for La Roja during the World Cup Qualifiers, securing five clean sheets and conceding only two. Spain are clear favorites to go all the way to the final, and Unai Simón looks like a must-have fantasy pick in Group H.

When to Target: Spain has three excellent keepers, Raya, Simon and Barcelona’s Joan Garcia ($4m). However, pending any potential injuries or team rotation, if you still own Raya before Matchday 1, now is the time to swap to Unai Simón, who will likely start all group stage matches.

Bart Verbruggen (Netherlands) $4.7m | TSB: 3.6% ownership

Group Stage Fixtures: Japan, Sweden, Tunisia

The Netherlands are group favorites to top Group F this World Cup, so it’s a bit surprising seeing Brighton’s goalkeeper, Bart Verbruggen, with less than 5% ownership among fantasy managers. This means he currently qualifies for the scouting bonus system and was phenomenal for the Oranje team during the World Cup qualifiers, keeping three clean sheets in six appearances.

When to Target: Although the Dutch team are Group F favourites. Their recent shock 1-0 defeat against Algeria shows that they are not entirely invincible. Nonetheless, if you are trying to save budget from the $5m keepers and searching for less-owned assets for your team, then Verbruggen is one to consider.

Jordan Pickford (England) $4.8m | TSB: 14.6% ownership

Group Stage Fixtures: Croatia, Ghana, Panama

Jordan Pickford, who is playing in his third World Cup for the Three Lions, now has 82 caps for his country after making his debut in November 2017. The 32-year-old started seven out of eight matches during the World Cup qualifiers, keeping seven clean sheets and not conceding a single goal.

When to Target: England are no doubt the best defensive team in the tournament, and Pickford is a must-have pick to have in your fantasy team from Group L.

Emiliano Martinez (Argentina) $5m | TSB: 22.2% ownership

Group Stage Fixtures: Algeria, Austria, Jordan

Argentina, the defending champions, are back on the World Cup stage, and returning is 2023 and 2024 Yashin Trophy winner Emiliano Martinez. The 33-year-old has kept six clean sheets in his last 10 matches for Argentina, accumulating to a total of 40 clean sheets in 59 caps for his nation.

When to Target: No need to overthink it; Martinez is a must-have keeper who rotates nicely with a cheaper goalie when Argentina play among the latter fixtures in Group J.

Manuel Neuer (Germany) $5m | TSB: 13.2% ownership

Group Stage Fixtures: Curaçao, Côte d’Ivoire, Ecuador

Despite struggling with injuries and being missing from the German squad since September 2024, the 40-year-old’s league performances with Bayern Munich have earned him a call-up for his fifth World Cup tournament with the DFB team.

Neuer kept six clean sheets in 22 league games for Bayern Munich; however, where the veteran shines most is from his high claim and number of saves made. This makes him a huge addition for Germany when they take on 83rd place, Curacao, who will be making their World Cup debut.

When to Target: Julian Nagelsmann has passed Neuer to be fit for the first game; however, it seems he could be rested in future games whenever there is a sign of an injury risk. With this in mind, if you’re considering Neuer, you should consider having Oliver Baumann ($4.3m) as his replacement or backup goalie, who started the majority of the World Cup qualifiers.

Budget Enablers- Goalkeeper in World Cup Fantasy

Below is a list of starting goalkeepers priced between $4m and $4.5m that seemingly have huge potential to register clean sheets and loads of save points.

Norway: Ørjan Nyland ($4.2m) has 70 caps for the Vikings, keeping 26 clean sheets, and will most definitely start all group games for his nation in their long-awaited return to the World Cup stage.
Ecuador: Starting 5 out of 6 appearances for La Tri, Hernán Galíndez ($4.2m) appears to be Ecuador’s main keeper, who is a solid shot-stopper for quality saves.
Croatia: After a difficult Matchday 1 matchup against England, Dominik Livakovic ($4.5m) is a good pick against Panama and Ghana.
Canada: Maxime Crépeau ($4m) was recently coronated as Canada’s No. 1 goalie by head coach Jesse March and would be an exciting budget enabler for World Cup fantasy managers.

Mexico: There are reports going on that veteran 41 year old keeper Guillermo Ochoa($4.2m) could be the first choice keeper for Mexico in the opening game. Have an eye on Press conferences if you are bringing him in.
