The last month of the PL season is upon us. May has always been bittersweet for a PL fan like me.
It’s good because it brings closure to a 10-month-long journey – one filled with hope, heartbreak, and everything in between. This is where narratives peak. Title races go down to the wire, European spots become battlegrounds, and relegation fights turn desperate. Every match matters, every point counts.
Players, too, have their own stakes. Some chase the Golden Boot, some look to cement their legacy, and many play with one eye on the summer – either for a big move or simply to stay relevant. This year, there’s an added edge, with national team managers watching closely ahead of the World Cup. Every performance could define a career.
But it’s also bad. Because it means the end is near.
For almost three months, the routine disappears. No weekend rituals, no midweek distractions – just a strange emptiness. And perhaps the hardest part – some players we’ve grown up watching will wear their club jerseys for the last time. Legends who felt permanent suddenly aren’t. And in some small way, it feels like we lose a piece of our own footballing journey with them.
BGW34 delivered a brutal swing – especially between those who had the FH chip and those who didn’t. Popular assets largely delivered, but there were curveballs in the form of Igor Jesus, Mac Allister, and Casemiro.
More importantly, we now have clarity – a mini DGW36 for City and Palace (City’s second of the season). With just 4 GWs to go, planning becomes everything. So let’s begin our BUY-HOLD-SELL article for this GW, sponsored by …. Well, nobody. We are poor, but you can help here if you want.

FPL Gameweek 35 Transfer Tips: Two Players to BUY
Nico O’Reilly (£5.1m) – DEF, Man City – 16.1% TSB
Since GW26, among defenders, NOR is ranked:
- 1st for Shots on Target
- 1st for Shots in the Box
- 1st for Big Chances
- 1st for xG
- 1st for xGI
- 1st for Goals Scored
- 1st for Goal Involvements
- 1st for xPts
- 1st for FPL points
This is not just form – this is domination.
Up next is Everton, against whom he already delivered an 11-pointer earlier this season. And then comes the DGW.
At this point, not owning him is less of a differential and more of a risk.
Buy Nico O’Reilly if you’re part of the 85% still holding out.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin (£5.7m) – FWD, Leeds – 11.8% TSB
Since GW31, among forwards, DCL is ranked:
- 2nd for xPts
- 2nd for xG
- 1st for Big Chances
Now pair that with Burnley’s defensive numbers in the same period:
- 20th for Shots Conceded
- 20th for Shots in the Box Conceded
- 20th for NPxGC
- 20th for xGC
- 20th for xCS
This is as close to a “fixture screams points” scenario as it gets. DCL thrives on volume and service – and Burnley are offering both on a plate.
Beyond GW35, Leeds face Spurs and West Ham – two defences that don’t exactly inspire confidence.
Buy DCL. Don’t overthink it.

FPL Gameweek 35 Transfer Tips: Two Players to HOLD
Ollie Watkins (£8.8m) – FWD, Aston Villa – 15.8% TSB
Watkins is currently the second most transferred-out unflagged forward – and honestly, the frustration is fair. Just 2 hauls since GW24 is not what you expect from a premium forward.
But this is where FPL punishes impatience.
Villa now face Spurs and Burnley – two of the most generous defences in the league, ranked 17th and 20th for goals conceded. Both sides concede high-quality chances centrally, exactly the zones Watkins thrives in.
And here’s the key – despite the blanks, Watkins’ underlying involvement hasn’t dropped off dramatically. The returns haven’t matched the process.
Fixtures + underlying stability + proven explosiveness = a classic “one haul away” player.
This is not the time to sell. This is the time to back the bounce.

Igor Thiago (£7.4m) – FWD, Brentford – 35.3% TSB
Thiago is quietly becoming one of the most misunderstood assets this week – sold heavily despite elite numbers.
Among forwards, he ranks 2nd for almost everything that matters:
- Shots
- Shots on Target
- Shots in the Box
- Big Chances
- xG
- Goals
- xGI
- xPts
- BPS
- FPL Points
(We all know who sits at No.1.)
Up next: West Ham – a relegation-battling side he’s already scored against this season.
Thiago falls into a very specific category:
- Too good to sell
- Not essential enough to buy
If you own him, you keep him. If you don’t, there are better entry points elsewhere.

FPL Gameweek 35 Transfer Tips: Two Players to SELL
João Pedro (£7.5m) – FWD, Chelsea – 42.3% TSB
Since GW30, Pedro hasn’t registered a single goal or assist. In his defense, neither has anyone from Chelsea.
So while you could argue he’s been a victim of a dysfunctional system, FPL doesn’t reward sympathy—it rewards output.
The fixtures don’t help either:
- Nottingham Forest (who in the same time period, has conceded the least number of goals in the league)
- Liverpool
- Spurs
This is a brutal run for an already out-of-form asset.
Add to that the instability around Chelsea post-Rosenior era, and it becomes even harder to justify holding.
At this stage of the season, you need certainty – not hope. Move Pedro on.

Bryan Mbeumo (£8.4m) – MID, Man Utd – 16.7% TSB
Mbeumo has had seven consecutive blanks. While that alone is concerning, the real issue lies beneath.
In these 7 GWs, Mbeumo has an xGI of just 1.0. To put that into perspective—Yoro has matched that, despite playing one game less… as a defender.

This isn’t bad luck. This is a lack of involvement.
Next up for Mbeumo is Liverpool – a fixture where you need either form or underlying numbers. Mbeumo currently has neither.
With limited GWs remaining, every transfer carries weight.
It’s time to move on to assets who are actually in the game – not just on the pitch.
