FPL Gameweek 37 Review

GW37 was nothing special. A small red arrow, where I scored 60 points while the safety score for me was 64. Benched Darlow for Verbruggen which was the correct decision, only to see Farlow get an 11-pointer, while Brighton lost their clean sheet. O’Reilly and Van Hecke did not do much either at the back, while Gabriel was the only one that got out with a clean sheet.
In attack, it was a bit better this week as 4 players got attacking returns. Gyokeres was a surprise exclusion from Arsenal’s team and Semenyo and Tavernier both blanked as well. With a transfer saved, now we have 2 free transfers to go into the final GW of the season..
FPL GW38 Team Reveal

Going into the final week of the season, we all should really be having fun with our squads, unless some strategy is in place for particular circumstances i.e. chasing your mini-league rival or an Overall rank. It make sense to buy players from teams which have something to play for. Since the title is all but wrapped up, the European places are still open, while also the relegation fight between Tottenham and West Ham is still there to be won.
I am looking at buying Porro for Gudmundsson and Bowen for Gyokeres (in case Gyokeres is not starting). Being invested in West Ham vs Leeds match could be lucrative, as anything less than a win for West Ham would mean relegation. The Irons really have to go all out to win the game and their attack really needs to click. It also opens up the possibility of Leeds scoring goals, in case West Ham commit too many numbers forward, for which I am already invested in DCL. As for Spurs, I am looking to get Porro, they really need to not lose to survive and will try and keep out Everton as much as possible. Porro seems like a decent pick, with some attacking return potential, although it is not as much as it used to be in earlier years.
As for captaincy, Haaland takes the armband for the final time this season, as he got a perfect score in the Captaincy Metrics. He is the standout captaincy pick for me. Bruno would be my vc, and I fully expect him to break the assists record.
Finally, thank you to our readers for supporting us throughout this season. It has been a tough one for me, but just as enjoyable nonetheless. Good luck and have fun this week!
