With information about DGW33 and BGW34 now readily available, do spend a bit of time checking your teams before the deadline on Friday night! With all that said, let’s take a look at how we did in FPL GW31…

Our Scout Picks team’s total of 55 wasn’t enough to beat the Official Scout Picks score of 59 in FPL GW30. We are still 1 point ahead of the Official Scout Picks going into FPL GW32…

FPL GW32 Scout Picks

FPL GW32 Scout Picks – Goalkeeper

Verbruggen (4.5m) is our scout picks ‘keeper for FPL GW32 as Brighton travel to face Burnley away from home. Burnley have scored the 4th fewest goals and boast the 2nd worst xG in the league. Parker’s side have scored just 1 goal in their last 3 PL matches.

Brighton, on the other hand, have limited all of their last 3 opponents in the league to less than 1xG, a run of three games which included Arsenal, Sunderland, and Liverpool! Verbruggen himself has blanked in just 1 of his last 5 PL matches, picking up save points in all but one and keeping CS in two. Due to his nailed-ness and the long-term appeal of a double in GW33, Verbruggen is a good pick for FPL GW32!

FPL GW32 Scout Picks – Defenders

We’re selecting O’Reilly (5.0m), Gabriel (7.2m), and Saliba (6.1m) as our defenders for FPL GW32…

Let’s start with the Arsenal defensive double-up. Gabriel (7.2m) and Saliba (6.1m) are always pretty solid picks in FPL, and, although the former has had a few injury concerns over the international break, they remain decent picks for this set of fixtures too!

Bournemouth at home is by no means an easy fixture (as Bournemouth have racked up around 2xG in each of their last 3 Premier League matches), but Arsenal rank highly in almost all defensive metrics imaginable, including the most important – clean sheets. 15 CS in 31 games thus far is superb, and Gabriel and Saliba have played a large part in their solidity.

It’s important to have at least one Arsenal defensive cover every week, and it’s becoming increasingly important to have two or three! What Saliba lacks in defcon and attacking potential, he makes up for in CS and nailed-ness. It must be noted that Saliba has picked up bonus points in both of his last PL games as well… Gabriel, on the other hand, is a defcon monster and a quasi attacker at times! With Timber out injured and Arsenal’s other fullbacks currently leaving a lot to be desired, we think that these two are the best picks for FPL GW32!

O’Reilly (5.0m) is our final pick for FPL GW32 as Manchester City travel to London for their match against Chelsea! The fixture is less important here, however, as it is really the attacking potential of O’Reilly that we are looking to target. The Englishman has picked up 3 goal involvements in his last two games (two huge games against Liverpool and Arsenal in cup competitions) and looks back to his best since switching to LB. O’Reilly has just 1 blank in his last 4 premier league starts, and has produced 3 goal involvements in that time too. He’s a great all-around defensive option in FPL, mainly due to the fact that he does not appear to do much defending!

FPL GW32 Scout Picks – Midfielders

In midfield, we’ve selected Bruno Fernandes (10.3m), Semenyo (8.2m), Gordon (7.4m), and Cunha (8.0m) for FPL GW32…

Bruno Fernandes and Cunha come into the team following United’s uptick in form and due to a favourable fixture against Leeds. Farke’s side are in a bad moment and are winless in the league since 6th February. United, on the other hand, have won all 5 of their most recent Premier League home matches, scoring on average 2+ goals per game (12 goals). Bruno is an obvious choice, considering his recent performances and the fact that he leads the league in chances created, but what does Cunha offer?…

Cunha has produced 3 goal involvements in his last 4 Premier League matches, and looks far more settled out on the LW than he ever did up front. The Brazilian is able to produce moments of magic, and has been doing so intermittently since joining United in the summer. Cunha will be up against Bogle and Rodon on the right-hand side of defense, both of whom like to get forward and get involved in attacking moves. In the last match between the two sides, Cunha put in a MOTM display, with the game ending 1-1.

Gordon comes into the team for Newcastle’s trip to London to face Crystal Palace in FPL GW32. The magpies are in a decent bit of league form, but have been all over the place recently in all competitions. Gordon himself has been a bit of a revelation as a makeshift striker for Howe’s side, scoring in all three of his last Premier League matches. Since his 4-goal haul against FK Qarabag in the Champions League in mid-Feb, Gordon has looked much improved, and has in fact doubled his PL goal tally from 3 to 6.

Newcastle may not be in great form, but Palace aren’t doing much better. The Eagles have struggled in recent matches and will be desperate to get out of the relegation scrap as soon as possible. In the reverse match between the two, Newcastle won comfortably, and I can see a similar story here. Gordon up front is not a permanent solution, but if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it! Gordon makes our XI for FPL GW32…

Completing the midfield, we have Semenyo. The Super City signing has been in great form all year. While he may have overperformed his xG a bit, his underlying numbers remain impressive, and he always passes the eye test with flying colours. Against Liverpool in the cup, he played a great game and set up Haaland’s second goal with a fantastic cross to the back stick early in the second half. A trip to Chelsea won’t be a walk in the park, but with a double on the horizon, Semenyo remains a great FPL pick.

FPL GW32 Scout Picks – Forwards

Our front line for FPL GW32 consists of Haaland (14.4m), Bowen (7.6m), and Welbeck (6.2m)…

Haaland finally comes back into the fold after some improved performances and a pick-up in his form. The striker scored a hatrick against a hapless Liverpool side in the cup, whilst also scoring against Real Madrid in their Champions League tie. Admittedly, he’s looked flat in recent weeks in the league, but, as with Semenyo, with a double on the horizon, now could be the time to hop back on… Chelsea have conceded 5 goals in their last three PL matches and looked poor in their 3-0 loss to Everton in GW31, don’t be fooled by their position in the table, at times, they can be defensively suspect.

Bowen comes into the team for West Ham’s attractive fixture against bottom-of-the-table Wolves. The English winger has 3 assists in his last 4 PL matches, and has surprisingly also picked up a number of defcon points in recent weeks too. His underlying numbers suggest that his tally of 8 goals and 6 assists is about right, while his performances in recent matches have been good.

West Ham are fighting for their lives to get out of the relegation spots; every GW is an opportunity to put points on the board and the possibility of championship football beyond them. Wolves sit at the bottom of the table, having scored the fewest goals in the league.

Finally, we have Brighton’s Welbeck. Brighton, as mentioned before, is another team with a double in FPL GW33, so now is a good time to start looking at how to incorporate their assets into our teams. Welbeck is certainly one to consider, as he’s picked up 12 goals in 30 appearances so far this season with an xGI/90 of 0.63. Burnley have conceded the most goals and shipped the most xGA in the PL this season, making them a team to target for attacking players. They’ve conceded 10 in their last 5 league games and shipped 3 to a pretty blunt Fulham side in FPL GW32. Hinshelwood could also be considered as an interesting differential option, but for now, we’re sticking with Welbeck!
