FPL Gameweek 33 Review

It was a pretty decent Gameweek for those on the Bench Boost this week, as the teams had Brighton, Leeds and Bournemouth assets, which returned quite a few points across the board for their faithfuls. Brighton getting 2 clean sheets was an ideal scenario, while Bournemouth assets like Tavernier returned. It was pretty unlucky for me personally, since trying to be different with Mitoma in the previous week, I had transferred him out and took a last-minute punt on Gomez, who then got injured in the first half of the first game. To put salt in my wounds, Mitoma came on and scored for Gomez. That’s just how FPL is sometimes, the game that we all love. Chelsea double attack was the most disappointing, as the attack duo of Pedro and Palmer returned a total of 2 points in total. All in all, the BB was fine, as I jumped almost 200k places and I currently sit at 496k. The team obviously looks pretty bad for GW34 with blanks all across the board, and this is exactly why the most exciting chip of the season is now going to be deployed..

FPL GW34 Free Hit Team Reveal

Activating the Free hit chip for GW34 was always the plan. It is important to pounce on teams like Liverpool, who are not as important FPL-wise recently, and to pounce on fixtures. Between the sticks, I have gone with with Raya and Hermansen. Raya for me was a no-brainer, even with the recent form, while Hermansen provides excellent cover, as West Ham have now kept 4 clean sheets in their last 7 games.

In the defence, Gabriel and Virgil are safe and obvious choices again. Both defenders have the potential of scoring 15-pointers in any GW, as their goal threat in set pieces is brilliant. The clean sheet potential is also there for both, and you would not want to miss out on the opportunity to own them both. I have also gone for Porro, Mavropanos, and Reinildo. Porro again, has a good fixture this week (but so do the opponents he is playing), and has some potential of attacking returns. I am not entirely sure about this pick at this time, but for now, he is in.
Mavropanos had a crazy week against Wolves, when he came out with a brace of goals and a clean sheet, amassing 21 points for his efforts. Reinildo provides a cheap cover on the bench.
Coming to the attack, Bruno is an obvious choice any day of the week. I have also gone for FPL Royalty Salah, in the hopes that we see one game where he goes absolutely bonkers like he used to in the past, but it has not been there at all this season. I would have liked to pick Wirtz but due to budget issues, I have to be satisfied with Szoboszlai as my third Liverpool pick. Rice is also my third Arsenal pick, and although I am not entirely convinced, he can chip in with decent points to keep the scoareboard ticking. Xavi Simmons is a player I rated at the start of the season, and he has hardly shown anything at all in his first season in the league. I do believe that he is someone who can still get some points and help out his team to stay in the Premier League next season.
In attack, I have gone for Solanke, which is a pure fixtures play and Bowen, who is one of the most underrated picks in the game. Bowen has been ticking along all season with 8 goals and 10 assists, 3 of which came against Wolves.
I am yet to decide on the captaincy, but the armband at this point in time is with Salah. I am following the captaincy metrics this week and since, I am also chasing rank gains, I have the armband on with Salah.
