Welcome to our FPL GW30 Scout Picks blog! After a well deserved break, FPL managers must return to tinkering as another round of premier league fixtures kick off this weekend on Saturday afternoon! The FA cup and champions league have offered ample entertainment for football fans, but nothing can truly substitute for the Premier League!
Our Scout Picks team’s total of 62 was not enough to beat the Official Scout Picks score of 78 in FPL GW29. We remain 1 point ahead of the Official Scout Picks going into FPL GW30.

FPL GW30 Fixtures

FPL GW30 Scout Picks
FPL GW30 Scout Picks – Goalkeeper

Raya (6.0m) Is our goalkeeper for FPL GW30 as Arsenal welcome Everton to the Emirates on Saturday afternoon. While Arsenal have kept just one clean sheet in their last five Premier League fixtures, they remain a team to target from a defensive perspective. Raya is the highest scoring goalkeeper in FPL, though it must be said that this is primarily down to arsenals awesome clean sheet record.
The gunners face an Everton side who are in decent goalscoring form having put two past Burnley and three past Newcastle in recent weeks. Their xG has been less than impressive however, plus, Newcastle and Burnley are far from watertight at the best of times… With few good alternative goalkeeping options this week, it makes sense to go for the tried and tested Arsenal defensive double up, (all me boring – I don’t care) considering the success that FPL managers have had with this strategy over the course of the season.

FPL GW30 Scout Picks – Defenders

Virgil (6.2m), Hill (4.2m), and Gabriel (7.2m) make up our back three for FPL GW30…

Gabriel is our second Arsenal defensive asset, retaining his spot in the team for the upteenth week in a row. The Brazilian is a versatile and consistent point scoring option, and an easy pick for this week’s Scout selection. Everton rank fairly mid-table for attacking stats so selecting two defensive assets from the best team in the league feels like a safe bet.
FACT: Gabriel’s 11-point return in FPL GW29 was his 5th double digit haul this season. The Brazilian has scored 9+ on 10 occasions this term.
Most Double Digit Hauls among Defenders this season:

Virgil also retains his spot in a team in spite of his blank in FPL game week 29 against bottom of the league wolves. Virgil did not have his best performance against wolves, and came away with just the one point, disappointing his FPL managers for the first time in a while. Liverpool looked sloppy and uninspiring against Galatasary in midweek, and didn’t look much better against wolves in the cup at the weekend – alas, never fear Dr. Tottenham is here! Liverpool welcome relegation contenders Tottenham Hotspur to anfield on Sunday afternoon in what could be a decisive fixture at both ends of the table. While one could argue that Tottenham have everything to play for, their performance is in recent weeks across domestic and continental competition have suggested otherwise…
Tottenham last scored more than one goal in the league at the start of February, have created less than 1xg in 2 of their last 3 Premier league matches, and have looked pretty abysmal since… well… this time last year? There’s always a chance that the players wake up at some point soon, but we’re yet to see any signs of that happening (as their 5-2 defeat to atletico Madrid showed)… Until that happens, they remain a team to target. Virgil has been a consistently high scorer in FPL of late, let’s hope he can Help his side bounce back from a string of subpar performances.
Hill comes into the team for FPL Gameweek 30 as Bournemouth travel up north to face Burnley. According to expected points, Burnley are by far the worst team in the league. Scott Parker’s side have the worst XG and XGA in the league, and have looked far worse than the other teams in the relegation battle for some time.
Bournemouth, on the other hand, last lost a game on the 3rd of January against Arsenal, and have kept clean sheets in three of their last six Premier League matches. Hill has become a popular FPL asset of late due to his cut price and diverse Point scoring avenues. Having started just 13 games in the league, the young defender has already helped his side to five clean sheets this term, whilst also averaging almost 12 CBIT/90. Hill Is in great form, picking up Defcon points in three of his last five matches, and scoring 5+ FPL points in six of his last seven. With Burnley up next, Hill looks like a great option.
Hill began starting matches from GW19. Since becoming a regular starter from GW19, among all defenders he ranks:
• 1st for assists
• 1st for defensive contribution points
• 1st for DEFCON points
• 3rd for total FPL points

FPL GW30 Scout Picks – Midfielders

We’ve selected a midfield four of Rayan (5.6m), Semenyo (8.3m), Wirtz (8.3m) and Bruno F (10.1m)for FPL GW30…

Rayan comes into the team for Bournemouth’s aforementioned favourable fixture away to Burnley this weekend. The brazilian joined Bournemouth in January and has looked like a threat in almost every way off the wing for the Cherries so far! Two goals and an assist in 6 matches thus far is not a bad return for a new signing, and his underlying numbers back up this impressive form… 0.17xG and 0.2xA equals around 0.37xGI/90, or a goal involvement every three games, but it is when one watches Rayan that a full picture emerges…
Mazey runs, moments of magic, Rayan is a true brazilian footballer in all senses of the word. Rayan’s solo run against West Ham was fantastical, and an amazing goal was prevented only by the post of Hermansen’s goal. Burnley are pretty open and defensively hopeless at the moment, so selecting a Bournemouth attacker in this team was a must. Rayan feels like the most attractive option due to his form and explosive potential in this fixture!
Semenyo keeps his spot in the team following another solid showing against Forest in FPL GW29 in which he scored for the second game in a row. In his last five appearances in the premier league Semenyo has 4 goal involvements (3G, 1A) which isn’t bad going considering he’s still settling into his new surroundings in the north of england! Semenyo is a proven premier league player who scores goals on a regular basis for one of the top sides in the league, he’s a great pick this week and beyond, but why have we chosen him for this game in particular?…
West Ham are on a decent run of form and look set to really shake up what was turning out to be a pretty set-in-stone relegation trio of themselves, Wolves and Burnley. The Hammers have now dragged Forest, Spurs and others into a proper relegation scrap thanks to some decent results of late (1W, 1D, 1L in last 3). West Ham have conceded a lot of shots on goal in recent fixtures against Fulham and Liverpool and will not get off lightly if they concede a similar number against City. This will be a great game considering both teams have a lot to play for! With Haaland out of form, Semenyo has become the chief goal threat for City – let’s hope he continues to make the most of the chances he’s given come FPL GW30…
Wirtz comes back into the fold following his absence through injury in recent weeks. We selected the german in FPL GW28 when Liverpool faced forest, but Wirtz was unfortunately injured in the warm up and was forced to pull-out of the starting XI on that occasion – he’s back now though and we’re hoping he can make an impact against Spurs this weekend!
Spurs have the 2nd worst expected goals against and have conceded the most goals since the turn of the year – that’s how bad they’ve been. Tudor’s side conceded 4 goals and substituted their goalie in the first 25 minutes of their match against Atletico Madrid in mid-week; they are most certainly a club in crisis. Liverpool on the other hand have struggled to create chances in Wirtz’ absence, and Slot will be keen to start him again after his return to the team against Gala on tuesday night.
Top Midfielders for FPL Points from GW17-GW26 (Before Wirtz injury):

Bruno completes the midfield for FPL GW30… The portuguese midfield maestro has been in magnificent form since the appointment of an interim manager at United and a position change back into his favoured attacking midfield position. 6 wins, 1 draw and 1 loss – not a bad record for Carrick thus far, but Bruno’s record in that time is even better…

2 goals and 6 assists in the league since a move back into attacking midfield (that’s a 1GI/90 by the way) and the underlying numbers back up that this is no fluke from Fernandes! United rank joint third in the league for goals scored since Carrick’s appointment, with Fernandes involved in just over half of those. Bruno is a central cog to this new-look Manchester United attack and will prove pivotal come United’s clash with Villa on sunday at 14.00. Villa are out-of-sorts at the moment and are winless in their last three. Emery’s side shipped a truck load of chances (that’s the scientific term) against Chelsea in FPL GW29, conceding over 3xG and a full 4 goals – if they are anything like as open against United they will surely pay a high price!

Joao Pedro (7.7m), Ekitike (9.1m) and Thiago (7.2m) complete the team…

Joao Pedro rewarded managers who had kept faith in him in FPL GW29 by returning a huge 19 FPL points!3 goals and 1 assist against Villa – simply stunning. JP is in fantastic form in the league and has clearly won the faith of new manager Rosenier through his performances and output. With Newcastle up next, a side that have conceded 10 goals in their last 5 league matches and look far from defensively solid at the moment, JP is a great pick for our AAFPL GW30 Scout Picks team.

FACT: JP is now the second highest scoring forward in FPL with 160 FPL points and the highest scoring player in the last 12 GWs!
Ekitike keeps his spot in the team in spite of a blank against Wolves last GW in FPL. With Liverpool facing Spurs in FPL GW30, it makes sense to double up on their attackers for this one considering how low on confidence and leaky they have been in recent times. While Gakpo is an interesting differential, due to his minutes security primarily, and Szobo is a diverse points scorer, Hugo Ekitike feels like the safest option for now. Spurs are likely to be without both of their starting CB for this match as VDV is suspended and Romero had a nasty head clash with Paulinha against Atletico which will likely rule him out for this one, making a Liverpool attacking double up all the more attractive!

Thiago also keeps his place in the team due to Brentford’s favourable fixture against bottom-of-the-table Wolves in FPL GW30. While Wolves have had somewhat of a renaissance in recent weeks, their underlying numbers remain poor. It must be noted that the underlying numbers suggest they should have lost against Liverpool, Arsenal and Forest in recent weeks – games which they either won or drew.
Brentford were similarly lucky not to lose against Bournemouth in FPL GW29 according to the underlying numbers, but, considering the scoreline last time these two played (2-0 to the Bees), Andrews’ side will be confident that they can win this one. Thiago’s xG is ridiculous and his tally of 18 goals this term is just 4 shy of Haaland’s 22 – no doubt the Brazilian will be keen to make up ground while the Robot is still out of form.
