Top FPL GW28 Differential Picks to Target Ahead of Deadline

The Differential Article had a bad week where only 2 of our 6 picks returned with FPL Points. This week, we will be aiming to continue with some strong scores this Gameweek.

  • James Hill – 1 Clean Sheet – 6 Points
  • Ibrahima Konate – 1 Clean Sheet, 2 Def Con, 1 Bonus – 9 Points

That makes it 66/162 Picks who have returned FPL Points from our picks this Season.

In this article, we will be highlighting 5 Players who are less than 10% Owned and 1 Ultra Differential (less than 1% Owned) for all of you as of Thursday, 26th February, 2026. There are many more whom you guys can consider if you decide not to go with the 6 players mentioned below.

Top FPL GW28 Differential Picks

Nico O’Reilly – Manchester City – 5.0 Defender – 7.4 % TSB

  • Since moving to a Left sided No. 8 role in midfield, O’Reilly has scored 3 Goals and 2 consecutive Double digit returns (13 and 17). O’Reilly also has a good matchup this week as Leeds concede a lot of chances from their right side and from set pieces. O’Reilly will have the favored matchup even if he plays as a Left back and is also good from set pieces (2nd best after Haaland among the City players).
  • O’Reilly now has the joint most Goals this season (4) and 2nd best xG (2.95) among Defenders. He has the 2nd most attacking returns among Defenders (7) with only his team-mate Nunes ahead of him. He has the 5th best xGI (4.61) and has had 7 Shots on Target and 18 Shots in the Box.

Kevin Schade – Brentford – 6.9 Midfielder – 1.2 % TSB

  • Brentford play the worst team in the League this Gameweek. They face a Burnley team which is ranked worst for all Defensive metrics such as Shots on Target conceded, Shots in the Box conceded, Big Chances, xGC and Non Penalty xGC. They have a great run of fixtures with 4 of the 6 fixtures at home and 2 away games against Bournemouth and Leeds.
  • Burnley tend to be even worse at home as they have conceded the highest xG at home so far this season. Burnley’s knack of conceding Big Chances and high number of shots will play into Schade’s hand as he has the 2nd most xG, 2nd most Big Chances and 2nd most xGI (all behind Thiago). Burnley also tend to concede a lot of shots from wide areas and this again gives Schade an advantage. People will be put off by Schade because of his recent benching but he should come back into the Starting 11 in the place of Lewis Potter after Brentford’s disastrous performance last Gameweek.

Benjamin Sesko – Manchester United – 7.2 Forward – 3.7 % TSB

  • For quite some time now, Sesko has been having a purple patch at Manchester United without FPL managers buying him into their teams. The reason, he has not started the last 6 Games. Yet he has 5 Goals (3 off the bench) and (2 as a Starter) in the last 7 Gameweeks.
  • Sesko has the 2nd most Goals (7), 3rd most xG (6.27) and Goal Involvements among Manchester United attackers despite only starting 11 Games. Despite that he has the 2nd most Shots in the Box and Big Chances and 3rd most Shots on Target among all Manchester United players.
  • Its only a matter of time that Sesko starts games and giving him a start at a home game against Palace to further boost his confidence could be the ideal strategy taken by Carrick. Palace are in trouble & are struggling defensively. Sesko just needs to grab his opportunity and continue his red hot patch of form to become a serious FPL option very soon.

Dominik Szoboszlai – Liverpool – 6.8 Midfielder – 8.0 % TSB

  • Before his suspension, Szobo was on fire with 2 Goals and an Assist and 4 Defcon points in the last 3 Gameweeks. With Liverpool now having 3 Home Games in the next 5 Gameweeks (where they tend to do better), Szobo could be a cheap route into the Liverpool attack.
  • He has scored 4 Goals, got 2 Assists and earned Defcon points 6 times this season. He also tends to be quite good for Bonus Points, having earned 14 so far this season. He has had 17 Shots on Target, 12 Shots in the Box, 4 Big Chances. He has also created 7 Big Chances and played 49 key passes for his team-mates. He also has a share of set pieces and knowing West Ham’s weakness against set pieces (bottom for headed attempts), Szobo could have a decent chance of getting an attacking return this Gameweek.

Ultra Differential Picks for FPL GW28 (Under 1 % Ownership)

Amine Adli – Bournemouth – 5.4 Midfielder –  0.7 % TSB

  • Adli has made the most of his opportunity recently with 2 Goals and 2 Assists in the last 6 Gameweeks. He is ranked in the Top 4 for xGI among the Budget Midfielders (below 6 million) and in the Top 3 for xG and FPL points. He also ranks Joint top for attacking returns in this period. Even with these stats, people are buying his team-mate Rayan. Adli could continue to do well with a vey low ownership and going for him could bring major rank gains.
  • Adli has now started 6 consecutive games and in that time period has got a whopping 4 Big Chances, same as striker Evanilson. Bournemouth face Sunderland and Burnley in the next 3 Gameweeks. Sunderland tend to be a poor team away from home and are struggling in Xhaka’s absence. They also lost their key defender Mukiele to injury while Burnley are rock bottom for all Defensive metrics. Owning Adli could be a key strategy for the upcoming run of fixtures.

Sepp Van Den Berg – Brentford – 4.5 Defender –  0.8 % TSB

  • Brentford play Burnley and Wolves in the next 3 Gameweeks. Both these teams are in the Bottom 3 for attacking metrics such as Non Penalty xG, xG, Big Chances, Shots on Target, Shots in the Box. That is why targeting a Brentford defender in the short term could be a great move.
  • Van Den Berg has been really unlucky to not get a Goal this season. He has had 4 Shots on Target, 13 Shots in the Box, 3 Big Chances and 2.42 xG. He has only an Assist so far. Burnley and Wolves also rank in the Bottom 4 for Headed attempts conceded. A goal could thus be coming in the next few Gameweeks, besides the opportunity to keep a Clean Sheet. He is also quite decent for Defcon having earned the additional 2 points 9 times this season.

That’s it for Gameweek 28. We will be back with 6 More Differentials next Gameweek where we will be hoping to get some positive returns from our current selected Differentials for Gameweek 28.
