FPL Gameweek 27 Transfer Tips: Two Players to Buy, Hold, & Sell

After the madness of DGW26, GW27 finally gives us something managers secretly fear: time to think.

No frantic 48-hour turnaround. No “just click something and pray.”

Just clarity — and the uncomfortable responsibility that comes with it. With the latest FA Cup results:-

The doubles are getting clearer.
The blanks are getting defined.
Fixture swings are now very real.

This is where seasons are won or quietly bled away — not through heroics, but through discipline.

So no fluff. No hedge words. Straight into BUY–HOLD–SELL, sponsored by …. Well, nobody. We are poor, but you can help here if you want

FPL GW27 Transfer Tips: Two Players to BUY

João Pedro (£7.7m) – FWD, Chelsea – 45.7% TSB

Chelsea aren’t just scoring goals right now — they’re suffocating opponents with volume.

Over the last 10 Gameweeks:

Data from stats.allaboutfpl.com (Fully Free)
  • Chelsea rank 1st for goals scored and xG
  • Burnley rank 20th for goals conceded and xGC
  • João Pedro ranks 1st among all players for goals, assists and total FPL points

Now combine that with the fixture: Chelsea at home to Burnley, projected to be the highest-scoring game of the Gameweek.

Burnley’s defensive collapse is especially severe in the box:

  • They concede a huge volume of big chances
  • Shots in the box dominate their concession profile
  • Wide-to-central transitions are their biggest weakness

Pedro thrives exactly there. He leads Chelsea for shot volume, attacks space aggressively, and arrives into finishing zones relentlessly. Add current form to that role, and this isn’t just a good pick — it’s one of the clearest buys of the week.

Verdict: BUY. Form, fixture, and role all screaming the same thing

Antoine Semenyo (£7.9m) – MID, Man City – 49.8% TSB

Manchester City don’t often get overlooked attacking options — but when they do, it’s usually because everyone’s staring at Haaland.

City host Newcastle this week and rank 2nd for projected goals. The context matters:

  • Newcastle play this match between two Champions League playoff legs
  • The second leg follows immediately after
  • Rotation, fatigue, and focus become unavoidable factors

Newcastle’s defensive weakness is also very specific:

  • They concede most chances through the centre and right side

Normally, that funnels value toward Haaland. This time, Semenyo may be the bigger beneficiary:

  • He operates heavily in those zones
  • He carries no fitness concerns
  • He’s started five straight matches
  • He’s the top-scoring midfielder in FPL

GW26 return: 1G, 1A

Upcoming fixtures: NEW | LEE | NFO | WHU | Blank GW31

This is a classic “follow the zones, not the name” play.

Verdict: BUY. Same City upside, lower stress, massive momentum.

FPL GW27 Transfer Tips: Two Players to HOLD

Igor Thiago (£7.0m) – FWD, Brentford – 30.1% TSB

Igor Thiago is being sold for some strange reason.

Not because he’s stopped performing — but because managers are not staring at the long term horizon.

From GW27 to GW35, Brentford’s fixtures turn decisively green. That’s not a footnote — that’s the window where Thiago’s value compounds.

Selling now achieves three things:

  • You lock in fear-based decision-making
  • You lose team value unnecessarily
  • You almost guarantee a future buyback at a higher price

It’s about recognizing when a premium run is approaching — and not sabotaging yourself just before it begins.

Verdict: HOLD. Short-term discomfort, long-term payoff.

Erling Haaland (£14.9m) – FWD, Man City – 68.4% TSB

At this point in the season, selling Haaland is rarely tactical.

It’s emotional.

Three straight returns remind us of a simple truth: When City score, he is still the centre of gravity.

The upcoming run: NEW | LEE | NFO | WHU | Blank in GW31

Nothing hostile. Nothing extreme. Just steady opportunities — the kind Haaland historically turns into explosions without warning.

Managers talk themselves into selling him because:

  • The price feels heavy
  • The hauls aren’t constant
  • They want to feel proactive

But FPL doesn’t reward constant motion. It rewards patience with elite assets.

Verdict: HOLD. Boring decisions are often the right ones.

Haaland fitness update:

FPL GW27 Transfer Tips: Two Players to SELL

Bruno Guimarães (£7.0m) – MID, Newcastle – 11.3% TSB

This one is no longer about form or fixtures — it’s availability.

Bruno Guimarães has been ruled out for around eight weeks after suffering a serious muscle injury. He’s already flown to Brazil to continue treatment, confirming the severity.

The knock-on impact is huge:

  • He’s expected to miss multiple Premier League fixtures
  • He’s out for Champions League playoffs
  • He misses key domestic cup ties
  • His return timeline overlaps with international breaks and rotation-heavy periods

At his price point, you cannot afford a long-term absentee — especially during a phase of the season where fixtures and chips matter most.

Verdict: SELL. Dead money with no upside.

Marc Cucurella (£6.1m) – DEF, Chelsea – 16.9% TSB

Marc Cucurella’s situation is a textbook FPL exit.

He’s currently sidelined with a hamstring injury, and Chelsea have been deliberately vague about his return timeline. While early estimates suggest a 3–4 week absence, there is no firm date — and hamstrings rarely respect optimism.

What we do know:

  • He’s already missed games
  • He’s likely to miss upcoming clashes against Burnley, Arsenal and Aston Villa
  • There’s a strong chance his return comes after the March international break

For a £6.1m defender, uncertainty is fatal. Chelsea’s fixtures are tough, rotation risk will increase, and there’s no guarantee Cucurella returns straight into 90-minute security.

Verdict: SELL. Too expensive to wait, too unclear to trust.
