FPL Gameweek 25 Transfer Tips: Two Players to Buy, Hold, & Sell

Just when we thought Manchester City were drifting, they found a way to qualify for the League Cup final — despite having an awful Premier League form recently – just one win in their last six league games. Pep’s side remain unreliable week-to-week, but still dangerous enough to punish hesitation in the knock out games.

Standing in their way in the final? Arsenal — who also happen to have a Double Gameweek in GW26. And that, more than anything else, is why GW25 is not a week for impulse moves.

This is the pivot point of the season.

  • Fixture swings
  • DGWs on the horizon
  • Injuries starting to cluster
  • Chips beginning to matter

Every transfer from here on needs to work across multiple Gameweeks, not just one deadline. With that in mind, let’s get into this week’s BUY–HOLD–SELL, sponsored by …. Well, nobody. We are poor, but you can help here if you want

FPL GW25 Transfer Tips: Two Players to BUY

Chelsea Champions

João Pedro (£7.5m) – FWD, Chelsea – 40.0% TSB

Enzo Fernández (£6.8m) – MID, Chelsea – 21.9% TSB

If you bought João Pedro last week, congratulations — nothing has changed except the opponent.

Chelsea face Wolves this Gameweek, and Pedro remains one of the most structurally secure forwards in the game. Since Rosenior took over, among all forwards, Pedro ranks:

  • 1st for Shots on Target
  • 1st for Goals Scored
  • 1st for Assists
  • 1st for Goal Involvements
  • 1st for BPS
  • 1st for Bonus Points
  • 1st for total FPL points

This isn’t streak-based output. It’s role-based dominance.

Against a Wolves side that allows chances centrally and struggles to contain box movement, Pedro’s repeatable routes to points remain firmly intact.

Verdict: BUY (or hold with confidence if you already own).

If João Pedro is Chelsea’s spearhead, Enzo is the quiet engine that keeps delivering.

Why Wolves matter here: their defensive numbers are grim. Wolves rank in the bottom six for:

  • NPxGC
  • Goals Conceded
  • Clean Sheets

Up next for Enzo:

This is exactly the kind of fixture run where Enzo’s advanced positioning, late box entries, and sustained involvement translate into steady FPL returns.

He won’t explode.
He will accumulate.

At his price point, that reliability is extremely valuable — especially as managers juggle DGW prep elsewhere.

Verdict: BUY for structure, not fireworks.

Crysencio Summerville (£5.5m) – MID, West Ham – 1.0% TSB

Since GW22, Summerville has been the highest-scoring midfielder in FPL – a run in which he faced teams like Chelsea, Spurs and high flying Sunderland.

Top Midfielders for FPL Points over the last 3 Gameweeks:

Data from stats.allaboutfpl.com (Fully Free)

This week he faces Burnley — a defence ranked 20th in almost every meaningful defensive metric you can find.

  • Shots conceded
  • Shots in the box conceded
  • xGC
  • Clean sheets

All rock bottom.

This is the perfect blend of form + fixture + freedom. West Ham in recent games attack with intent, Summerville is central to everything they do, and Burnley simply do not resist.

Verdict: BUY before this becomes the most obvious transfer of the week.

FPL GW25 Transfer Tips: Two Players to HOLD

Igor Thiago (£7.1m) – FWD, Brentford – 33.7% TSB

Igor Thiago is the second highest scoring FWD in FPL and yet, currently the most transferred-out forward this week — which usually tells you more about manager psychology than player quality.

Yes, he faces Newcastle this week. Yes, that looks intimidating.

But context matters.

  • In the reverse fixture, Thiago destroyed Newcastle for 13 points
  • From GW27–GW35, Brentford have one of the best fixture runs in the league

Selling now means:

  • Losing value
  • Burning a transfer
  • Likely buying him back later at a higher price

This is a classic short-term fear vs long-term planning decision.

Verdict: HOLD. Patience will be rewarded.

Marc Guéhi (£5.2m) – DEF, Man City – 36.8% TSB

Guéhi is the most transferred-out unflagged defender this week — and again, the data says slow down.

Key points:

  • He did not feature in the cup semi-final because he was ineligible, not injured
  • With Gvardiol, Stones, and Dias(just back in squad) all out, Guéhi is a guaranteed starter

Statistically:

  • City have the best defence in the league after Arsenal
  • Elite clean-sheet potential still exists

Selling a nailed City defender right now feels like reacting to noise rather than structure.

Verdict: HOLD. This is not the week to sell defensive security.

FPL GW25 Transfer Tips: Two Players to SELL

Bukayo Saka (£9.9m) – MID, Arsenal – 12.4% TSB

This one is unavoidable.

Saka is expected to be out for 3–4 weeks with a muscular injury sustained in the warm-up against Leeds United. Arsenal are targeting the North London Derby for his return.

Games he is set to miss:

  • Chelsea (H) — League Cup
  • Sunderland (H) – GW25
  • Brentford (A)- DGW26
  • Wolves(A)- DGW26
  • Wigan Athletic (H) — FA Cup

At his price, you cannot afford dead money — especially with DGWs approaching.

Verdict: SELL. Bank the funds and reassess on return.

Bruno Guimarães (£7.1m) – MID, Newcastle – 14.3% TSB

This is a classic case of fixtures exposing form.

Bruno’s recent scores:
10, 1, 2, 2, 10, 10, 11, 3, 0

Those monster hauls?

  • Burnley
  • Burnley
  • Crystal Palace
  • Leeds

Now look at what’s coming in the next 6:

  • Spurs
  • Man City
  • Man United
  • Chelsea

The runway has disappeared. Add a yellow flag, increased rotation risk, and tougher matchups, and suddenly those returns look very context-dependent.

Verdict: SELL while the value narrative still holds.
