Top FPL GW22 Differential Picks to Target Ahead of Deadline

The Differential Article had a poor week with only 2 of our 6 picks returned with FPL Points. This week, we will be aiming to continue with some strong scores this Gameweek.

  • Jarrod Bowen – 1 Assist – 6 Points
  • David Brooks – 1 Assist – 4 Points

That makes it 52/126 Picks who have returned FPL Points from our picks this Season.

In this article, we will be highlighting 5 players who are less than 10% Owned and 1 Ultra Differential (less than 1% Owned) for all of you as of Thursday, 15th January, 2026. There are many more whom you guys can consider if you decide not to go with the 6 players mentioned below.

Top FPL GW22 Differential Picks

Cody Gakpo – Liverpool – £7.3 Midfielder – 5.6 % TSB

  • Gakpo has had a stop-start season so far, with injuries halting his momentum and place in the starting 11, often. However, now that he is back to full fitness, he should be 1st choice to start on the left wing for Liverpool. He also has a good matchup this Gameweek as Burnley have conceded the most chances from their right side. Gakpo also tends to do well at home and stands to profit this Gameweek.
  • Gakpo has so far scored 5 Goals and got 3 Assists which ranks him as the 2nd highest contributor for attacking returns among Liverpool teammates. He has had 8 Shots on Target, 31 Shots in the Box, and been presented with 7 Big Chances. He has also created 7 Big Chances for his teammates and played 26 key passes.
  • Burnley are ranked in the Bottom 2 for all defensive metrics and have conceded the 2nd most Goals and Big Chances in the League so far. Liverpool should be going for the kill at Anfield this Gameweek.

Marcus Tavernier  – Bournemouth – £5.5 Midfielder – 2.4 % TSB

  • With Semenyo gone from Bournemouth and Kluivert out with a long-term injury, Tav could be the midfielder of interest from Bournemouth. The reason, he takes set pieces, plays 90 minutes in most games (unlike Evanilson & Kroupi Junior), and could also potentially be on penalties.
  • Tavernier has already scored 4 Goals and got 3 Assists. He has had the highest number of Shots among the current Bournemouth players (41) and the 3rd most Big Chances (5). He has had 12 Shots on Target and 15 Shots in the Box. Due to him taking corners, he has created 26 chances for his teammates and also created 3 Big Chances.
  • Over the last 5 Games, Brighton rank the 2nd-worst team in terms of conceding xG, worst in terms of conceding Shots, and 2nd worst in terms of conceding Shots in the Box. This could play into the hands (feet) of Tavernier as he looks to step up for Bournemouth in the 2nd half of the season.

Jeremie Frimpong – Liverpool – £5.7 Defender – 5.9 % TSB

  • With Bradley out for the season, Frimpong becomes a tasty option for FPL Managers. Liverpool are ranked as the team with the best odds for a Clean Sheet this Gameweek as they face a Burnley team that is ranked as the Bottom team for non-penalty xG in away games. Liverpool have also improved defensively (as of late) with them being ranked in the Top 2 for Non Penalty xGC and xGC, which shows that they have been unlucky not have got more Clean Sheets this season.
  • Frimpong has 3 Assists in the last 5 Gameweeks, and he even scored a goal in the FA Cup on Monday. He, like Wirtz, has been enjoying a good patch of form lately, and with his goal-scoring output well known, he could offer an explosive route into an improving Liverpool backline for the next few Gameweeks.

Kauro Mitoma – Brighton – £6.1 Midfielder – 2.0 % TSB

  • Mitoma only has 2 Goals and an Assist this season, but he has been hampered by injuries for most of this season. Now that he has returned to full fitness and has gradually built up his minutes, he could be a very nice option with very low ownership. 3 Home games against Bournemouth, Everton, and Palace, and an away game against Fulham means Brighton have a solid run of fixtures.
  • What’s surprising is that Bournemouth are the bottom-ranked team for Goals conceded (29), xGC, non-penalty xGC, Shots on Target conceded, Shots in the Box conceded, and 3rd worst for Big Chances conceded. Brighton, being an aggressive attacking side could take advantage in this game.
  • Mitoma is a proven FPL Asset having had Double Digit Attacking returns in the last 3 seasons (15, 10, and 16) respectively. He has the pedigree and, in the absence of Minteh, could take up the responsibility for being Brighton’s creative hub. Even this season, in only 700 minutes of football, he has had 5 Shots on Target, 8 Shots in the Box. He has also created 15 chances for his teammates.

Xavi Simmons – Tottenham Hotspur – £6.5 Midfielder – 1.0 % TSB

  • 2 Back-to-Back Games against the 2 Worst-ranked sides in terms of Defensive Metrics. Both West Ham & Burnley are whipping boys, and Xavi now plays them in back-to-back games. Before he got suspended, Xavi had scored a Goal and an Assist in 1 Game and got Defcon points in the other game. After coming back from suspension, he grabbed another Assist. It seems he is slowly but surely settling into the Spurs shirt. With Spurs signing Gallagher, Xavi will be given more license to join the attack rather than do the dirty work in midfield. With 11 Key passes and 3 Big Chances created, he could become Spurs’ creative hub going forward.
  • He also had a brilliant game against Villa in the FA Cup loss, where he played 32 accurate passes (out of 34), played 3 Key passes, had 2 Shots on Target, 3 Touches in the opposition box, 2 Interceptions and 5 Ball Recoveries. An all-round performance & clearly the best player for Spurs on the pitch. With 2 great fixtures coming up, he could be worth a 2-week punt for those looking to Wildcard in Gameweek 24.

Ultra Differential Pick for FPL GW22 (Under 1 % Ownership)

Mateus Mane – Wolves – £4.5 Forward –  0.8 % TSB

  • 2 Goals and an Assist in the last 2 Gameweeks. 6 Bonus Points to go with it. Since cementing his place in the Starting 11, he averages 6.3 points per game. But what stands out is that he has had 11 shots over this time period, which is the 6th best among Forwards. The 18-year-old has had 7 Shots on Target, 2 Shots in the Box.
  • Wolves could have a Double Gameweek in Gameweek 26 if Arsenal make it to the final of the EFL Cup, which only increases their appeal. With Chelsea & Manchester United’s fixtures turning from Gameweek 24, many would be going for Bruno, Palmer in midfield. This can be done by bringing in Mane and freeing up funds in your FPL Teams.
  • Finally, Wolves are unbeaten this year and look energized after Mane’s introduction to the team. In Gameweeks 22 and 24, Wolves have 2 home fixtures against Newcastle and Bournemouth, respectively. Newcastle tend to be bad travelers, and Bournemouth have conceded the most goals away from home this season.

That’s it for Gameweek 22. We will be back with 6 More Differentials next Gameweek, where we will be hoping to get some positive returns from our current selected Differentials for Gameweek 22.
