FPL GW24 Wildcard Guide

Pros & Cons of Wildcarding in FPL GW24:

Pros & Cons of Wildcarding in FPL GW24

Pros of GW24 Wildcard:

Pros of GW24 Wildcard

  • Target Manchester United(Bruno, Mbeumo) and Chelsea Assets(Palmer*, Enzo, Chalobah, Sanchez, James) for their fixture run from GW24.
  • Get the right Arsenal Triple up you want for their potential Double Gameweek 26
  • Remove Manchester City, Newcastle, and Liverpool assets if you are not happy with them due to form and fixtures.
  • Remove under-performing/rotation risk players like Keane, O Reilly, Gordon, Cunha, etc
  • Change team structure to Haaland-Kroupi-Mane front 3 if you want to invest heavily in defense and midfield.

Cons of GW24 Wildcard:

  • Less clarity on upcoming Doubles and Blanks. We only have info that GW26 is a double for Arsenal + Wolves or Chelsea + Everton. Exact DGW26 will only be known post-GW24 deadline and before the GW25 deadline based on League Cup semis. No other info is known on other doubles/blanks later in the season.
  • There is a good chance that Manchester City, Arsenal, Palace, and Wolves blank in GW31. Most teams have Triple Arsenal + Haaland + 1/2 Man City assets+ 1 Palace asset. You will need to have a solid plan with saved transfers if you are not Free Hitting in GW31.
  • Might struggle later from GW31-GW36 if there are not enough transfers saved up. This is a period when there are likely to be 2 Double Gameweeks and 2 Blank Gameweeks.
  • Need to save up lots of Free Transfers in the coming weeks to navigate the Blank Gameweek 31 and also to compete with GW32 Wildcarders.

Other Potential Wildcard Windows:

  • GW32
  • GW34
  • GW35

Goal Keepers:

Sanchez takes the gloves based on Chelsea’s amazing fixture run from GW24, where they play West Ham, Wolves, Leeds, and Burnley in the next 4 games. Sanchez is the 4th Highest scoring Goal Keeper with 87 Points– Only behind Pickford, Raya, and Roefs.

Dubravka is the nailed starting 4.0 Keeper in the game and also has a good fixture in GW9 vs WOL(A), where you can play the Bench Boost if you still have it.

Defenders:

Even though Arsenal conceded 3 goals vs Manchester United, it is difficult to look beyond Arsenal’s defense this season, as they are still Top for all the underlying data this season. Gabriel and Timber are both in the Top 4 for FPL Points this season as well.

Arsenal Defense Rank this season:

  • xGC- 1st
  • Big chances Conceded- 1st
  • Goals Conceded – 1st
  • Shots inside the box conceded- 1st

Gabriel has other routes to points as well, with 3 goals, 2 assists, 10 DEFCON points, and 18 Bonus Points to get a Total of 121 Points this season- Highest Scoring Defender in the game this season. Timber, on the other hand, is the high upside pick with no DEFCON potential, but has been very attacking this season. He has been taking up good positions in attack and already has 2 goals and 4 assists this season. Timber is Top for xG and Top for xGI among Defenders this season.

Top Defenders for xGI this season:

Daniel Munoz is back from injury and is a differential for the upcoming fixture run for Palace. Even though Palace have been poor defensively, expect them to turn their form in the upcoming fixtures. Munoz got injured in GW14 and missed GW15-GW23.

Top Scoring FPL Defenders from GW1-GW14:

Mukiele comes in as the 4th defender, having an exceptional season and multiple routes to Points- 1 Goal, 4 Assists and has hit the DEFCON 12 times. Even with Sunderland’s poor defense in recent weeks, Mukiele is still a good option.

James Hill(from Bournemouth) comes in as the Enabler in defense priced at just £3.9 million.

✅Played 90 Minutes in each of the last 5 games
✅Hit DEFCON in last 4/5 games
✅Averages 12.5 DEFCON/90 in last 5 games
✅Even if Bournemouth’s defense is poor, there are decent fixtures till GW31

Midfielders:

Bruno Fernandes and Mbeumo come into the team as the Double up on Manchester United’s attack after back-to-back victories vs Manchester City and Arsenal. Manchester United are in Top 3 in the league for xG, Big Chances, and Shots this season. Form, Fixtures – Both are in favour for Carrick’s men and a double up in Bruno Fernandes and Mbeumo surely makes sense.

Bruno is on penalties and good for DEFCON, Bruno and Mbeumo combine to take most set pieces as well. So there are multiple routes to points. Bruno is Top for xGI among Midfielders this season(despite missing 3 games) and Mbeumo is 5th for xGI among Midfielders despite missing 5 games.

Top Midfielders for xGI this season:

Enzo Fernandez at 6.7 million looks to be a steal as he is 2nd for Expected Goal Involvement among Midfielders this season. If Palmer’s fitness remains a concern, he will also be on penalties(when Palmer is not on penalties). 7 Goals, 3 Assists from 21 starts is too good for a Midfielder at 6.7 million with excellent fixtures.

Declan Rice is the Arsenal attacker cover, keeping the potential Double Gameweek 26 in mind. Arsenal are likely to play BRE(A), WOL(A) if Arsenal reach the finals of the Carabao Cup (Currently leading 3-2 after first leg of semis). Rice has 4 goals, 7 assists, and has also hit the DEFCON in 8/21 starts this season, averaging 6.05 FPL Points/90 minutes. Only Bruno Fernandes, Bruno G, Foden, and Grealish have more Double Digit Hauls among Midfielders compared to Declan Rice.

Rogers rounds up the Midfield as the Villa cover for their fixture run from GW24-GW36, where they don’t play Arsenal, Liverpool, Man City & Newcastle. Rogers has7 goals, 5 assists already this season, and is the focal point of their Villa attack. Villa will need Rogers to keep going if they are still going for a Top 2 finish.

Forwards:

Haaland has blanked in 5 out of the last 6 matches, but still tops almost all the underlying numbers in the league. With Semenyo joining and most of the attackers getting match fit, it’s only a matter of time before Haaland goes back to his routine.

Kroupi Jr. comes in as the cheap striker option in this draft, with Semenyo leaving and Kluivert injured. He can be a decent cover as the 8th attacker, even though his minutes might reduce with Bournemouth looking for new signings.

Mane rounds up the team as the Budget forward option with the Potential Double Gameweek 26 in mind. Wolves are likely to have a Double Gameweek 26 vs NFO(A), ARS(H) if Arsenal reach the Carabao cup finals. Arsenal lead 3-2 vs Chelsea after the semi-finals first leg. Mane has started the last 6 league games, completed 90 minutes in 5 of them, and has 2 goals and 1 assist during this time.

  • This is an all-out Arsenal defense draft with the Triple up- Raya, Gabriel, and Timber.
  • Chalobah comes into the team as the DEFCON beast for Chelsea’s amazing fixture run. Chalobah has a DEFCON hit rate of 50% after hitting DEFCON in 11 out of 22 starts this season. He is also averaging 8.95 DEFCON/90, which is a good number.
  • Harry Wilson comes into the team as the Budget Midfielder option and looks to be a steal at this point. Since GW10, Harry Wilson has the Most FPL Points(91) in the league, courtesy of 7 goals and 5 assists. If you are looking for a Budget Midfielder at this point, it is very difficult to look beyond Harry Wilson at this point.

Most FPL Points since GW10:

  • Darlow is the bench-keeper enabler. He has started the last 2 games ahead of Perri and looks to be the first-choice keeper for Leeds at the moment.
  • Guehi has joined Man City and right away got the first start and the clean sheet. He is the 4th Highest scoring Defender in FPL this season and has multiple routes to points- 2 Goals, 4 Assists, and 14 DEFCON points.

  • This draft is for managers chasing the upside and who want to risk it without going for Haaland. There is close to 3.0 million in the bank as well to get back Haaland/Salah later if needed.
  • Joao Pedro has 2 goals and 1 assist from the last 2 games and looks to be the first choice forward under Rosenior. Even with Chelsea’s tight schedule, Pedro should start most of the games in the league despite minutes being an issue with Delap around.
  • Watkins and Saka come in as the other Premium options in the team with whom Haaland will be taken on. Even though it’s a big risk, it’s worth going for it as they are proven consistent assets who have a good fixture run. Saka can be a placeholder for other Premiums till Double Gameweek 26 and can be moved to other Premiums like Salah/Haaland/Palmer based on whoever is performing well.
