FPL GW22 Wildcard Guide
Pros & Cons of Wildcarding in FPL GW22:
Pros of GW22 Wildcard:
- Get Chelsea assets early, who have a great run of fixtures from GW24 onwards
- Remove underperforming & unavailable assets like Keane, Dias, Gvardiol, Bowen, and Kudus
- Bring in players in good form like Bruno G, Rogers, Watkins, DCL, etc
Cons of GW22 Wildcard:
- We still don’t have clarity on the teams that will double and blank later this season.
- There is a bigger fixture swing in GW24 for teams like Bournemouth, Palace, and Man United, along with Chelsea.
- Using the wildcard early and saving other chips for later in the season could backfire. Ex: You’ll need to use transfers later to have a full 15-man team to use bench boost in one of the doubles.

Players to Target on FPL GW22 Wildcard:
- Goalkeepers: Sanchez, Pickford, Verbruggen, Roefs, Kelleher, and Dubravka (Bench)
- Defenders: Gabriel Timber Munoz (Bench until he’s back), Chalobah, James, Cash, Collins, Mukiele, Van de Ven, Alderete, Richards/Guehi/Lacroix
- Midfielders: Bruno Fernandes, Mbeumo, Bruno G, Rice, Palmer, Enzo, Saka, Rogers, Wilson. Enablers: Janlet, Garner, Tavernier
- Forwards: Haaland, Watkins, Thiago, Mateta, DCL Enablers: Mane, Kroupi Jr
FPL GW22 Wildcard Drafts
FPL GW22 Wildcard Draft 1
- Kelleher, who had an excellent 13-point haul in GW21, is a great, cheap goalkeeper option at 4.5m. He’s the 4th-highest scoring goalkeeper in FPL this season, proving that he can bring in major points at a good price.
- Arsenal remain a defensive powerhouse this season, with just 14 goals conceded so far this season, the least of any Premier League team. With the Gunners on track to win their first title in decades, Timber and Gabriel seem like obvious options, being 3rd and 1st respectively for FPL points scored by a defender.
- Mukiele is a very productive budget option at just 4.4m. He has scored 92 FPL points this season, earning DC points in his last 4 fixtures.
- Chelsea have a great run of fixtures coming up, and we have gone with Cucurella in this draft. Alternatively, you can go for Chalobah too if you’re not keen on spending 6.0 million on Cucurella.
- Rice has the most points of any midfielder this term. He’s an integral part of Arsenal’s midfield and has brought in DC points on 8 different occasions as well, demonstrating his ability to rack up points across the pitch.
- Guimaraes has the 3rd-highest points of any midfielder this season, completely outperforming his xGI of 6.4, with 13 goals and assists to his name.
- With Haaland in the team, we’ve gone for Janelt (4.9m) over Rogers as a budget option. Janelt has scored DC points in his last five fixtures, racking up 36 points in that timeframe.
- Thiago has been in extraordinary form this season, scoring 120 points, the second-highest for a striker behind Haaland and third-highest overall.
- Kroupi.Jr is an excellent budget option at 4.6m who could provide fantastic ROI, and at just 4.1% TSB, a differential to set your team apart.
Kroupi.Jr’s stats this season:
- Goals – 7
- xG – 3.45
- Shots in the box – 13
- Shots on target – 11
- Big Chances – 5
- Key Passes – 6
- Do Note: Palmer has been struggling with a groin injury this season. Liam Rosenior, in the press conference ahead of the midweek Carabao Cup semi-final, said that he has no new injury problems after Charlton(FA Cup), but will make a decision on Gusto, Palmer, and James tomorrow. “They’re being managed. There’s no reason to take risks if you believe you can win the game (without them).”
- You can swap Palmer to Saka and get Enzo in place of Rice, or you can get Enzo/Rogers in place of Palmer and use the money to upgrade Thiago to Watkins and Janelt to Wilson.

FPL GW22 Wildcard Draft 2 – No Haaland
- Timber, Gabriel are mainstays in all our drafts for GW22, given their point tally and Arsenal’s excellent run of fixtures coming up. The Gunners’ only fixture with an FDR rating higher than 3 for the rest of the season is in GW33, against Man City.
- Cash has been included in this draft as the budget defender. The full-back has 3 goals and 2 assists under his belt this term, and 3rd-placed Aston Villa are in excellent form.
- Munoz is currently injured, but he was expected to return sometime in the latter half of this month, so he can be on the bench until he returns to action. He was the highest scoring defender from GW1-14 with 89 points(3 goals, 3 assists, 7 clean sheets, and 3 times DC points) before getting injured.
- Since it’s a no-Haaland draft, we have gone with Ekitike, Thiago, and DCL as our forwards. Ekitike missed GW20 and GW21 but made an appearance from the bench in the FA Cup game vs Barnsley, picking up a goal and an assist.
- Wilson is priced only at 5.9m and has scored 102 points as well. His form is at 6.7 right now, the 3rd-highest for a midfielder.
- Rogers has been exceptional this season as well, with a similar form and 7 goals scored this season.

FPL GW22 Wildcard Draft 3
- Slightly different draft with two 4.5 GKs in Verbruggen and Kelleher.
- Chalobah is the 4th-highest scoring defender this season, with 102 points under his belt this term. He should play a big role in Chelsea’s upcoming gameweeks and could bring in some clean sheet points too with their fixture run.
- DCL and Kroupi.Jr rotate well, allowing us to go heavy in midfield in this draft.
