FPL GW23 Review

After looking to save all Gameweek, we had a huge leak regarding City 10 minutes before the deadline, which said Haaland and Foden would be benched. Without any second thoughts, I hit the button on Foden to Bruno move. Also, due to a lack of captaincy option (Saka was not my preferred captain), I also did Ekitike (who was ultimately benched) to Thiago move for a hit and captained Thiago, who came just behind Haaland in the captaincy article.
Of course, the theme of the new year has been no points at all for any of us, and we did not get any again from the popular captaincy options this GW. Again. Unless you went Semenyo.

I finished the Gameweek on 41 points, with a red arrow from 405k to 475k. The team is starting to look a bit better recently, but where are the points? In my 15+ years of playing FPL, I do not remember seeing such low scores all across. Hopefully, GW24 brings in much-needed changes..
FPL GW24 Team Reveal

The team is definitely not the best you’ll see around this Gameweek, as so many Wildcards are being played. The defence specifically looks to be in a bit of trouble this week. I have only 1 player at home, and the rest 4 would all be travelling, facing difficult games themselves.
I could make a change in the backline, but Gordon really has to go now. In a fixture list of Burnley (A), Crystal Palace (H), Leeds (H), Wolves (A), and Aston Villa (H), he has only managed to return 13 points in total, which is terrible, really. Maybe he gets those returns in the more difficult games coming up? It’s definitely possible, but I feel like I have to move now and cut my losses with him.
The obvious replacement is Enzo Fernandez, who scored a goal against Palace in GW23 and converted the penalty against Napoli in the midweek UCL game. He is at a pretty cheap price right now (6.7m), has great fixtures coming up, is on penalties when Palmer is not on the field, and set pieces when James is not on the field. He is a low-cost, solid pick who gets a lot of minutes.
I am still undecided on captaincy, Haaland statistically seems solid always, but Bruno Fernandes looks very safe indeed. Haaland may be more explosive, but Bruno Fernandes is safer since he has a higher floor? We shall see.
