FPL GW22 Review

FPL GW22 Review

Another disaster of a Gameweek in terms of quality in FPL, where the average score was only 40. That’s 5 Gameweeks now with the Global Average being less than 50.

For my team, it was finally refreshing to see a green arrow after 4 massive red arrows, which saw me go from 82k to 433k. It was not the biggest of green arrows (405k overall rank currently), but it was not a red, at least in an otherwise swingy Gameweek.

The defence bailed me out, with Gabriel, Thiaw, and Tarkowski combining for a total of 25 points. It would have been even better had Andersen not conceded a 91st-minute goal to Leeds United. He could easily have been on 10 points himself; he just needed to find 1 more Defcon and not concede that goal. That’s what FPL is all about, little details, small events, resulting in big variance.

The attack looks awful. On paper, it never does. When these guys play, it’s a different story. Ekitike was highly unlucky to not get anything out of the game against Burnley. Gordon again pretty poor, can not wait to get rid of him, really. However, Rogers looked very lively and sharp and was very unlucky to not have scored against Everton. All the attack seems to be going through Rogers.

Manchester City as a whole looked very poor against Manchester United and again in last night’s UCL game against Bodø/Glimt, where they lost 3-1. Haaland has now played 8 games without a non-penalty goal. Foden, with another blank as well, was subbed off at Half-time following a broken hand injury. Foden did start the UCL game, but again, blanked and was subbed. Are there doubts on whether he starts this week against Wolves? Surely there are..

Saturday update(One hour before deadline): Rolling transfer this week unless we have a Man City leak.

The team does not look the greatest on paper, but it is not the worst either, I feel. On the chopping block are Foden and Gordon at the moment. I am looking forward to welcoming back a certain Bruno Fernandes in my team, and although I have the cash to do Foden to Bruno, I still feel it’s a week too early as Bruno plays his toughest fixture of the season against away at Arsenal.

There are quite a lot of doubts on Foden not starting against Wolves this Gameweek, and rightly so. He has been very poor, and City have quite a few attackers that can replace Foden in the lineup. If come Saturday, it looks like Foden is not starting the game, I might be tempted to make the move this Gameweek itself. The prices are moving in the opposite direction, but I am not usually as concerned about prices in the second half of the season. Information is key, and I can let go off 0.1-0.2m at this stage of the season.

As for Gordon, I will be giving him the last game in the team, before I move him out for Rice/Enzo, which I will be closely monitoring this Gameweek and in the UCL. For now, Gordon lives to see a few more sunshines in my team..
