FPL GW21 Review

That was the toughest Gameweek in my recent years. Whatever could possibly go wrong, did. Since the start of this series, I have fallen from 82k in the world to 433k in the world. And another horrific Gameweek where nothing went my way.
I am not totally blameless either, I ended up taking a hit to do Hincapie and VVD to Tarkowski and Thiaw. It resulted in a loss of 8 points, which could have been worse had Hincapie not gone off injured. But even then, it was very rough. Ekitike not showing up, Gordon going off just before a Newcastle penalty, Thiaw being subbed at HT with a yellow card, Cunha with another blank. It just was rough. But it is what it is. It’s a good thing that I got a few extra days before the next Gameweek to switch off from FPL. It really helps rejuvenate you and involve more logic and less emotions in your gameplay, which for me is very important. Time to dust myself up and be ready for what beholds next…
FPL GW22 Team Reveal

The FPL options have changed drastically in the last couple of weeks, what seemed like an ideal midfield, is now on the chopping block. A lot of the readers who have not had good set of Gameweeks in the festive season, would be thinking about playing the Wildcard. But it’s important to note that it would require us to plan all the Blank Gameweeks and Double Gameweeks, without the blanket of the chip.
By experience, these plans are very difficult to execute, and you need a lot of luck to navigate through the same as you’re hoping to nail down the best options by planning and also avoiding any injuries/suspensions. Gameweek 24 does seem like a very good window to Wildcard as there is a huge fixture swing for a lot of the teams, but at the time of writing, I think I am going to be playing the Wildcard later in GW32 possibly. As I am not planning to play the Wildcard in Gameweek 24, I am thinking more long term with my team and not just the next 2 GWs.
I don’t necessarily dislike the fixtures that my team has this week and I think most of them are playable this Gameweek, even though a lot of my team is underperforming. I am most worried about Cunha though at the moment. With a managerial change, Mbeumo and Amad returning and a certain Bruno Fernandes that is now injury-free and ready to go and Sesko finding the back of the goal a few times recently, Cunha’s minutes might take a hit. Couple that with the fixtures that he has in the next 2, Manchester City (H) and Arsenal (A), I think he has to be replaced. Since I only have 2 Arsenal players in my team, it makes sense for me to finally bring in Declan Rice. I also have Cheslea’s Enzo Fernandez in my thoughts. Chelsea have one of the best fixtures in the next 6 Gameweeks. Having said that, I still want to see Chelsea under new management for a bit more before committing. The game against Arsenal tonight will give us some insight on Chelsea in general.
I will be updating the blog on a real time basis, with my thoughts and confirmed moves here. Stay tuned…
Saturday Update (1 hour before Deadline)
As posted on my handle, I am not entirely convinced about committing to Enzo already and want to watch Chelsea more to assess. Also after thinking it through, I again don’t want to commit to 2 Arsenal midfielders yet, and delaying Rice for now.
I will be getting Rogers in for Cunha, if we do not get any surprises leaks for the City lineup regarding Foden. Long term fixtures seem very good, 90 minutes man and a very depleted Everton team at home. Very good time to invest in Villa assets for me.
