FPL GW20 Review

GW20 was a Gameweek where we saw a lot of variance in scores. There were scores over 60, and then there were scores barely surpassing 40. I was on the tough luck’s side with a score of 43, when the Average top 10k score was 49. That’s now 3 red arrows in 3 Gameweeks, after a very strong run of 7 green arrows in 8 Gameweeks. It’s time to be a little cautious, although panic has still not set in. Planning your team, understanding the risks, and then covering them is always the way ahead. The golden mantra of FPL is that it’s a marathon, not a sprint…

FPL GW21 Team Reveal

It is a very good week to do nothing if you have no pressing issues, ideally. However, looking at my team, Ekitike is an injury doubt and I don’t have a very good bench at all with only Potts making any appearances. This may force my hand into making a move, but I am patiently waiting for more information, as I would not want to shift Ekitike out before he plays Burnley (H) in GW22.

Slot on Ekitike post the Fulham game on Sunday: “Hugo travelled. He felt something during the training session. Scan showed it was DOMS (delayed onset muscle soreness).”

With just 1 FT and 0.2 in the bank, there are not many things that I can do. In case Ekitike is fine, I would be tempted to move VVD out, who has been so disappointing, for Tarkowski or Thiaw. Between Hall and Thiaw, I just like CBs more with the Defcons added this season, as they are more reliable to get 90s and are more likely to hit Defcons as well.

Having said that, I do really want to roll the Free transfer. There is a major swing in fixtures coming up in GW24, and I would ideally want to go into that week with a handful of FTs left, so as to attack the next phase of fixtures swing. Admittedly, it seems difficult looking at the current state of my team, especially at the back. Hincapie is another one that might need to be fixed sooner rather than later, and his survival in my team depends on Calafiori’s fitness.

All in all, it’s all up in the air right now, and I am awaiting more information on Ekitike’s injury and Calafiori’s injury. I will be updating the blog once we get more news, and I have decided on the moves I will be making. Watch this space…

Likely Moves (Order of Preference)

  • VVD to Tarkowski/Thiaw; or
  • Hincapie to Tarkowski/Thiaw (in case Calafiori is back); or
  • Save FT; or
  • Ekitike to Thiago/Mane (in case Ekitike injured)
