With a TSB of 25.5% and 99 points under his belt, Bruno Fernandes remains one of the highest-scoring and most popular FPL assets this season, as he has shown over the years since his move to the English top flight. He is tied with Semenyo and behind Haaland with the second-most points of any player in the game this term.
However, in a massive blow to FPL fanatics, the Man United midfielder pulled his hamstring against Aston Villa last weekend and is ‘out for a while‘, in his own manager’s words. Now, with FPL managers in search of replacements for Bruno, we take a look at the best premium, semi-premium, and budget options to consider ahead of GW18.

FPL GW18- Best Bruno Fernandes Replacements
Matheus Cunha
Although Cunha is not among the highest-scoring midfielders in FPL this season, with 51 points under his belt, averaging 3.6 PPG, the stats tell us that he still shows promise. He’s only had 4 Goal Involvements in total in 14 appearances this season, but has an xGI of 6 so far.
Cunha has also registered 47 shots, 25 of which were taken inside the box and 18 of which were on target. He’s had 5 Big Chances and made 17 key passes this term.
Recently, Cunha has found himself on the scoreboard more often as well, as can be seen below:
- GW17 vs AVL(A) – 9 Points, 1 Goal
- GW16 vs BOU(H) – 8 Points, 1 Goal
- GW15 vs WOL(A) – 5 Points, 1 Assist

Additionally, with Bruno’s injury and Mbeumo’s unavailability due to AFCON, Cunha should see consistent starts, more game time, and more involvement in United’s attack. He could offer some great immediate ROI in the coming Gameweeks, with Man United’s next FDR 4 or higher fixture in GW22 against Man City.
Anthony Gordon
Like Cunha, Gordon has underperformed based on his expected goal involvements, with an xGI of 5.6 but only 4 Goal Involvements in total so far this term. He’s had 7 big chances, created 4 big chances, and made 11 key passes.
It should be noted that the Newcastle man was initially suspended for 3 games after a red card in GW2, and he missed some action in November as well, with hip problems. After a very brief introduction in GW13 against Everton, he hit back with goals against Burnley and Spurs in the following Gameweeks, before bagging 2 assists last weekend.
With Newcastle’s favorable run of fixtures until the latter half of January, Gordon is expected to rack up some major points soon, as he is the first-choice penalty taker as well.

Declan Rice
Rice is the third-highest scoring midfielder in FPL this season, having scored 97 points so far, averaging 5.7 Points Per Game. He had a great haul against Everton last Sunday, scoring 11 points against the Toffees, bagging an assist, a clean sheet, and DEFCON points as well.
Rice has scored DEFCON points on 7 different occasions this season and has scored 15 Bonus Points (2nd highest among midfielders). He has an ICT index of 110, with 8 goal involvements, showing his prowess in attack and defense.
Overall, Rice is a well-rounded midfielder who can score points across the pitch, and he would be a great replacement for Bruno.

Morgan Rogers
Morgan Rogers has been on a fantastic run of form recently, bagging 2 braces back-to-back against Man United and West Ham in the last 2 gameweeks, both of which saw 15-point hauls from the Aston Villa midfielder.
He is now 4th in the rankings for total points scored by a midfielder after 2 rather successful gameweeks, and he has the second-highest form of 9.3. Although Villa have difficult fixtures against Chelsea and Arsenal coming up, there still remains a high chance that Rogers continues on this run.

Phil Foden
Manchester City have been on a hot goalscoring run for the last 2 months. Pep Guardiola’s side have not scored fewer than 3 goals in any Premier League game since the start of November, with the exception of their 2-1 defeat to Newcastle on the 22nd.
Foden played an integral role in that run, scoring 55 points between GW13 and GW16, contributing 6 goals and an assist in that time, before his 3-point haul against West Ham last weekend. He’s been extremely involved in attack and would make a great replacement for Bruno in your FPL team.

Cheaper Alternatives to consider ahead of FPL GW18

Wilson is an excellent budget option who can provide great bang for the buck, with 80 points to his name and a price tag of just 5.8m. He ranks 7th amongst the highest-scoring FPL midfielders this season. Wilson has 5 goals and assists each, ranking 3rd in the midfielder standings for the highest number of goal involvements.

Enzo Le Fee
Le Fee is another budget alternative coming in at just 4.9m, and with the Frenchman on penalties for Sunderland, managers could bring in some extra points at a low price if they buy Le Fee ahead of GW18.
Freddie Potts/Lewis Miley
Potts and Miley are even cheaper options who have been productive this season, with the pair priced at a meager 4.4m. Both players have enjoyed breakthrough seasons for their respective clubs this season, and they could earn more points as they receive more game time. They are both good options for your 5th Midfielder slot(Bench Fodder).
