Welcome to this week’s transfer targets and watchlist, where we look at a few players to target ahead of GW12 and also a few players to target and keep an eye on for the upcoming Gameweeks. The list has three players, one forward, defender, and midfielder each, who are expected to perform well this week, given both form and opposition, these will be “Transfer Targets of FPL GW12”. The list also contains one forward, defender, and midfielder each who should be on your watchlist for the upcoming Gameweeks, again, a combination of form and fixtures.

FPL GW12 Transfer Targets
Igor Thiago – £6.3 – 11.1%

Starting this list of FPL GW12 Transfer Targets strong is Brentford’s in-form striker, Igor Thiago. The Brazilian has 8 goals in 11 games from a total of 5.69 xG. He averages 2.44 shots per 90 and is a brilliant poacher in the box. He is not only able to get on the end of big chances (which he gets 1.17 of per 90!), but is also able to score from half-chances just because of his movement in and around the box.
Brentford have had 31 big chances so far this season(6th highest amongst all teams), Thiago has got 13 of them(42% of Brentford’s big chances)

He’s also on penalties, which is the cherry on top. Brentford have good fixtures in the next 5, playing Brighton(A), Burnley(H), and Leeds(H) in GW12, GW13, and GW16, respectively. You can even bench him for Arsenal (though when Gabriel comes back will be key here) and totally start him for Spurs. At just 11.1% and a 6.3 million price tag, he is an excellent replacement for Joao Pedro.

Dominik Szoboszlai – £6.6 – 5.3%

Second play on the list, FPL GW12 Transfer Targets, is Liverpool’s Dominik Szoboszlai. He has played all 990 minutes this season, averaging 1.91 shots, 1.45 key passes and 11.73 Defcons per 90. In fact, he is 4th on the list of most Defcons among midfielders this season (he has played at the right-back position to from time to time, which helps him with Defcons while also maintaining goal threat).
He has 2 G/A already this season including that stunning free-kick against Arsenal early in the season. He is a master free-kick taker, and could also take penalties when Salah goes to Afcon.

Liverpool also has very good fixtures starting this week. They play Nottingham Forest(H), West Ham(A), Sunderland(H), Leeds United(A) and Brighton(H) in the next five gameweeks with the run continuing till gameweek 21. Get him before others do!

Virgil Van Dijk – £5.9 – 23.2%

At the time of writing this article, Gabriel is expected to miss 1-2 months due to the injury he sustained playing for Brazil & Van Dijk is one of the best replacements for the most owned defender in the game. Liverpool have really good fixtures coming up, they play only 2 of the current top 5 in the next 9 fixtures.

Van Dijk is a constant attacking threat, in fact, just last week, he had a controversial goal disallowed against Manchester City. He averages 0.36 shots from inside the box per 90 and should have had one goal already.
While Liverpool’s defense has been a little shaky with easy fixtures coming up, we should see them keeping some clean sheets. Van Dijk is also a Defcon monster, averaging almost 11 defcons per 90, making him the perfect candidate for the clean sheet + defcon hauls.

FPL GW12 Watchlist
Matthijs De Ligt – £5.0 – 3.2%

The defender to start off the Wishlist section is Manchester United’s De Ligt. He has played all possible 990 minutes this season, and he has scored 1 goal this season already. He averages 8.54 Defcons per 90, takes 0.64 shots per 90, and is just an excellent overall player who is coming into his own at Manchester United.
The Red Devils have been very impressive from set pieces this season & have scored 8 goals from set plays(2nd highest amongst all teams), only Arsenal have more(10 goals). De Ligt scored a brilliant header vs Spurs to snatch a point for the team, and given his height, he will continue to be a threat from set plays.
Manchester United have a run of good fixtures starting this week with Everton(H), followed by games against Crystal Palace(A), West Ham(H), Wolves(A,) and Bournemouth(H). He can be a strong differential and a suitable replacement for Gabriel for the upcoming game weeks starting this gameweek.

Kevin Schade – £7.0 – 0.8%

An ultra differential and a man going very under the radar is Kevin Schade. He has 3 G/A in his last 4 Premier League appearances. He averages 1.76 shots from inside the box, 0.4 xGi, and 1.17 Key passes per 90. He is on 4 yellow cards and could be in contention for a suspension if he picks up another one, so be on the lookout for that.

Brentford have good fixtures coming up with them playing Brighton(A), Burnley(H), and Leeds(H) in GW12, GW13, and GW16, respectively. Schade and Thiago double-up could bring back memories of the days of Toney/Wissa and Mbuemo!

Danny Welbeck – £6.5 – 9.1%

I have been talking about Danny Welbeck a lot recently, and there’s a good reason for that. He already has 6 goals this season in just 714 minutes with an xG of 4.19. Per 90, he has averaged 1.76 shots, 1.01 key passes, and 4.13 touches in the opponent’s box.
He is also on set-pieces (recently scoring a free-kick against his older club, Manchester United) and is the most likely penalty taker (in contention with Rutter). He plays Brentford this week, who have conceded a lot of goals to strikers, followed by a trip to Nottingham Forest and home games against Aston Villa and West Ham. These are all fixtures Welbeck can perform in!
