In this blog, we look at the Pros and cons of the FPL GW4 Wildcard, the Ideal FPL GW4 Wildcard Team, Drafts, and the Players to Target in your Gameweek 4 Wildcard team.

FPL GW4 Wildcard Guide
Pros & Cons of Wildcarding in FPL GW4:

Pros of GW4 Wildcard:
- Can help to remove injured players like Palmer, Saka, Saliba, Sarr etc if you had them from the start of the season.
- Remove underperforming Villa attackers like Watkins, Rogers and also Forest Defenders(Murilo, Milenkovic, Williams), Wirtz who have not lived up to the expectations so far.
- Now that the Transfer window is closed, you have clarity on certain players like Wissa and Isak.
- You can target Teams with these good fixture runs.
Target Teams with these good fixture runs on FPL GW4 Wildcard:
- Liverpool (Good fixtures from GW4)
- Palace GW4-GW5 & GW10-GW17
- Arsenal GW7-GW11(Tougher fixture in GW5 & GW6)
- Man City GW6-GW10
- Spurs GW4-GW7
- Aston Villa GW4-GW7 (Tough fixtures from GW8)
- Fulham GW4- GW5 & GW10-GW12 (Tough games in between)
- Manchester United GW6-GW7 & GW12-GW21
- Bournemouth GW6-GW9 & GW13- GW18
- Chelsea GW9- GW16
- West Ham GW8-GW12
- Wolves GW5-GW10
Cons of GW4 Wildcard:
- Wildcard can be useful later in the season to Big Fixture swings like GW8, GW13 where there is a swing for Big teams like City, Arsenal and Chelsea.
- Going for Gakpo, Ekitike can be short term. Isak should be match-fit to start in a couple of GWs.
- Villa and Forest have not been great so far and you will be removing them on Wildcard- But they have good fixtures in the next few Gameweeks where they could turn it around.
Players to Target on FPL GW4 Wildcard:
Goal Keepers: Raya, Petrovic, Sanchez, Dubravka

FPL GW4 Wildcard Draft 1- No Haaland, Free Hit GW6 Plan

- This is Draft with no Haaland and plan to Free Hit in GW6 so that you can have him for the BUR(A) fixture.
Defenders
- Defense is loaded up heavily with no compromises made. There is no 4.0 Defender and you can play all the Defenders irrespective of their fixtures as all of them are DEFCON monsters. We have gone with a Palace Double up of Lacroix and Munoz who are capable of Attacking returns, DEFCON and also cleans sheets with the next two fixtures reading SUN(H) and WHU(A).

- Senesi is a DEFCON monster as seen in below stats and is a no-brainer with Bournemouth fixtures getting better as well. Van Dijk has hit DEFCON in 2/3 games so far and has Burnley and Everton in the next 2 games. The clean sheet against Arsenal should improve Liverpool’s confidence. Andersen is another DEFCON magnet with decent fixtures, so he takes up the final spot.
🔥Players with Defensive Contribution points in all 3 games:
🍒Senesi
🍬Tarkowski
🐝Van den berg
👀Players with Defensive Contribution points in 2/3 games
🔲Burn
🔴Bruno
🔵Caicedo
🟣Lacroix*
🍒Adams
🐝Collins
🟤Cullen
🔴De ligt
🍬Keane
🔴Virgil
⚪️Andersen
🔵Wieffer
🔵Garner
🟤Ekdal
Note: OPTA updated Lacroix’s DC tally to 10 after the Villa game but it was not updated in FPL. So technically he’s hit the DC threshold in all three games too
Midfielders:
- Salah and Gakpo are right up there as the Top Picks with the BUR(A) fixture in GW4 followed by the Everton game. Even though Isak has signed he will not be starting right away as he has not had a proper pre-season and team training. Gakpo should be good for the next few weeks before you hop on to someone like Eze around GW7 for the Arsenal fixtures.
- Semenyo picks himself with 2 goals, 1 assist and 23 Points from the first 3 games. Bournemouth also have better fixtures coming up.
- Declan Rice is the Differential pick mainly targeting Arsenal for their fixtures from GW7. He can get DEFCON in tough fixtures and is on some set pieces as well. You can also opt for Everton Midfielders like Grealish and Ndiaye is you are confident in them.
- King is the Budget enabler at 4.5 million and he has started all 3 games for Fulham so far.
Forwards:
- Gyokeres, Pedro and Mateta are the 3 Forwards who do not need much explanation. Gyokeres and Mateta are on penalties and play for good-quality attacks. Both have good fixtures- Mateta(short term) and Gyokeres(Long term). Pedro is in amazing form with 2 goals, 2 assists, and 26 points so far. He is the highest-scoring Forward in the game.

FPL GW4 Wildcard Draft 2- Haaland Draft, No FH6

- This is the Draft with Haaland+ Salah and no plans to Free Hit anytime soon. You can save it up for later after GW12. Haaland has 3 goals, 24 points from 3 games and his underlying data suggests that he should have easily had more.
Haaland Stats so far this season(Rank in the league):
- Shots- 14 (1st)
- Shots on Target- 5 (Joint 1st)
- Shots inside the box- 13 (1st)
- Big Chances- 6 (1st)
- xG- 3.88 (1st)
- Goals- 3 (1st)
- xGI- 4.2 (1st)

- You also have 0.2 million in the bank and if you have good team value, you can upgrade Rodon/Paqueta.
- Rodon and Gudmundson are both good Budget enabler defender picks with Leeds keeping 2 clean sheets from the first 3 Gameweeks. Both of them are flagged at the moment, you can go for the one who is fit after Press Conferences.
- Dewsbury Hall and Paqueta are the other 2 new entries into this team. Dewsbury Hall is the arguably the best pick at his price point(5.0 million) and has played 90 minutes in all 3 games getting a goal and assist in the process. Paqueta is on penalties and also good for Defensive Contributions(32 DC from 3 games).

FPL GW4 Wildcard Draft 3 (GW8 Bench Boost Plan)

- This is a Draft with Bench Boost plan in GW8 and it has a solid Arsenal cover to start with targetting their good fixtures from GW7.
- Van De Ven has good fixtures till GW7 and Agbadou has good fixtures after that, So you can remove do the Van De Ven to Agbadou move in GW8.
GW8 Bench Boost Plan and Projection:
One Transfer Done(Three more rolled): Van De Ven to Agbadou. You can use the other 3 Free Transfers to improve your squad, react to injuries or even roll and save it up for later.
