FPL GW38 Free Hit – Teams to target, Must own players and Drafts

If you still have the free hit you don’t have to wonder when to play it as this is the last chance to play your Free hit. (On a lighter note, it would have been nice to carry it forward to next season but FPL doesn’t let us do it, unfortunately). With that, let’s take a look at the teams to target, must-own players, and some potential drafts to consider. The FPL GW38 drafts will give you a birds-eye view, eventually helping you to arrive at your perfect Free Hit draft.

Teams and Fixtures to Target in your FPL GW38 Free Hit

Worst defences in the last six games based on goals conceded via FFScout

Norwich vs Spurs

Spurs play an already relegated Norwich side who have conceded the most goals in the Premier League in the last six games. Son and Kane will have a good opportunity to end the season on a high against a poor Norwich defence. Spurs are chasing a CL spot, Son is one shy of Salah in the race to golden boot and Kane generally flourishes towards the end of the season and has scored three goals in the last two games.

Sessegnon at 4.3 Million could be a cut-price budget option for the third Spurs spot that will allow you to spend elsewhere.

Liverpool vs Wolves

One of the good defenses outside the big six, Wolves have lost their defensive strength and have now gone six games without a clean sheet conceding 13 goals during the period. The title race is going into the final game week and Liverpool could potentially score a lot of goals in this fixture.

Players to target: TAA, Salah(If available), Mane/Diaz, Robbo.

Chelsea vs Watford

Ravaged by injuries, Watford have had a forgetful last few weeks. 15 goals conceded in the last six games, just one CS against Everton, and 2nd most BC conceded in the last six games tells the story. The Watford defence conceded 5 goals vs Leicester with Vardy, Barnes, and Madders doing the damage. Chelsea could inflict similar damage on Watford who are championship bound.

Players to target: Mount, James/Alonso, Lukaku.

Leicester vs Southampton

Leicester are in full strength with all their key players available and just scored five goals against Watford over the weekend. This fixture reminds me of the 9-0 win Leicester had over Southampton a few seasons back. Saints are the worst defence in the last six games conceding a whopping 103 shots(second-worst) in six games and this could end badly once again for Southampton against Leicester. Leicester assets could be amongst the points and their reasonable FPL prices will allow the free hitters to load more premiums.

Players to target: Maddison, Schemiechel, Vardy, Barnes, Justin, Castagne

Man City vs Aston Villa

Man City drew against West Ham and Liverpool won against Southampton this means the title race goes to the last game. Although Aston Villa are a good team, Man City at full strength would surely get the better of Aston Villa. Pep should start his full-strength team and I would say KDB, and Cancelo are good players going into the final day.

Must own players on FPL GW38 Free Hit:

  • Son and Kane
  • James/Alonso(or both)
  • Vardy or Maddison
  • KDB/Salah(If fit)( tough to have both if you have Son and Kane)
  • Mount or a Chelsea attacker

Ideal Balance of the Premiums

Three premium attackers – Son and Kane + KDB/Salah will let you have a good balance of attacking fullbacks and good mids like(Mount/Madders/Bowen)

Four premium attackers – Son, Kane, KDB, and Salah could also be possible if you look for cheaper premium defenders(Matip, Laporte) and budget forwards.

FPL GW38 Free Hit Drafts

FPL GW38 Free Hit Draft one
  • Son plus Kane allows you to attack the Norwich fixture.
  • Vardy as another premium attacker to target the Southampton game
  • KDB who is always explosive in the final matchday is the third premium attacker
  • Triple Chelsea to target the Watford game, double up on James/Cancelo could work out very well
  • Cheaper enablers in Sessegnon and Gelhardt.
  • The only drawback is no Liverpool assets and no Cancelo

FPL GW38 Free Hit Draft Two

FPL GW38 Free Hit Draft Two
3-4-3
  • A differential draft with Mane and Mount along with KDB + Son and Kane
  • Toney and Mount could come out good
  • The concern is the lack of premium defenders but Matip, Sessegnon, and Ait Nouri could do a decent job.

FPL GW38 Free Hit Draft Three

FPL GW38 Free Hit Draft three
4-5-1 draft
  • Double Chelsea attack with Mount and Lukaku, Maddison covering Leicester attack.
  • Son and KDB are the two premium midfielders
  • Saka is still a good option(Bowen could be a good replacement at 6.2 Million)
  • James and TAA are the two premier defenders

FPL GW38 Free Hit Draft Four

FPL GW38 Free Hit Draft four
Kane plus Son plus KDB + Salah draft
  • Four premium attackers in Son plus Kane plus KDB plus Salah(If he’s unavailable then Mane)
  • Cancelo and Alonso are the premium attacking full-backs
  • Matip covering the Liverpool defence
  • No Leicester or Chelsea attack. You could do Kane to Vardy/Lukaku in this draft and upgrade the bench mid to Maddison to make it a 4-4-2 draft.

FPL GW38 Free Hit Draft Five

FPL GW38 Free Hit Draft Five
No KDB/City attack draft
  • A draft that I like very much if you settle on Salah/KDB
  • Bowen, and Madders both looking to be selected for the England squad, and both will look to end on a high. Gelhardt plays a key role in Leeds relegation battle vs Brentford.
  • A settled defensive line with a lot of potential for attacking and defensive returns.
  • Gelhardt + Cancelo could be Nketiah+ Laporte if you are not confident of Gelhardt

FPL GW38 Free Hit Draft Six

FPL GW38 Free Hit Draft Six
  • Kane plus Vardy along with Son and KDB. Another balanced draft with all bases covered.
