FPL GW20 ~ GW25 Fixture Analysis |Best & Worst Fixtures Over The Period

Hey hoomans, FPL Pup here. I’m back with my second article for allaboutfpl.com. Do drop me a follow on Twitter
I hope DGW19 is treating you all well. It is a crazy one. I am a Stones owner and I am still very jealous of some of the scores I am seeing out there! With my failing bench boost dragging me down. There is still a long way for us all to go in this game week though. To distract you I have turned my attention to the fixture ticker, which is quite congested after the FA cup weekend. The way I play, fixtures are at the forefront of my thinking for any transfer targets. Better fixtures, higher points – see Arsenal last night for example. So in this article, I will look ahead to who has the best and worst FPL fixtures up to and including game week 25. To try and determine which players we should be considering.

FPL Fixture Analysis for the period from GW20 to GW25

Looking Hot

Manchester United

FPL Fixtures Manchester United

FPL Fixtures: SHU, ars, SOU, EVE, wba, NEW

“He has blanked 2 games in a row”…” Pogba is negatively impacting him”…sorry, but Bruno is Bruno. He is the fire that ignites Manchester Utd. They are top of the table because of him and if they want things to stay that way it will be because of him. So I expect numerous returns from him in these
fixtures. His form is fine too, being number one among midfielders for xGI in the last 6 matches with 5.09. To me he is essential.

Another Manchester Utd asset who is high on my radar but who I just veered off buying due to fear of suspension is Shaw. It looks new signing Telles has put some fire in his belly and he has never played better for Manchester Utd. He provides sensational value. In the last 6 matches, he has created 16 chances of which 3 were big chances. Both tie him first among defenders alongside Robertson. Martial is consistently picking up niggling injuries as he always does and Cavani provides a viable alternative. So I would be jumping on neither due to rotation.

That leaves me just with Rashford. In the last 6 matches, he has had 14 shots which is not inspiring and some way short of El Ghazi’s 27 who is 1 st among midfielders, although 3 of Rashford’s were big chances. However, he has only created a meager 2 chances. At this price range, I prefer many other options over him.

Chelsea

FPL Fixtures Avoid Chelsea assets

FPL Fixtures: WOL, BUR, tot, shu, NEW, sou

Fixtures are one of the first things I look at for transfer target, but it is not everything. While Chelsea do have fantastic fixtures, I am just not feeling them. Zouma and Werner were dropped the weekend, so can they be relied on? Pulisic is a player I love, but he has only 1 assist from his last 6
starts
. Ziyech is just like streaky Mahrez, you just replace the goals with assists. I have also lost my appetite for their defense. Their xGC in their last 6 matches is 7.05, which is only the 12th best in the league. James has been injured and rotated, there are the Zouma question marks while the usually reliable Chilwell has only created 4 chances in the last 6, some way of Shaw and Robertson’s 16.

If I were to tip my toes in the water for Chelsea it will be for the relatively cheap Mason Mount. Who is tied 1 st among their attackers (with Werner) for FPL points (69). In his last 6 matches he has created 22 chances, only Grealish can better this with 29. However, only 2 of these were big chances. 2 goals and 5 assists from a player who has started all but 1 league match is at best, adequate.

Aston Villa

FPL Fixtures Aston Villa are back

FPL Fixtures: bur, sou, WHU, ARS, bha, LEI

Rested, good fixtures but more excitingly given their numerous postponements there could be some double game weeks on the horizon for Aston Villa. I will start with the obvious, Grealish. Looking at the last 6 matches he has created 29 chances, the best in the league. Of which, 5 were big chances. Only Kevin de Bruyne betters this. Grealish also provides goal threat with 14 shots over this time span, but this has diminished of late due to the introduction of Barkley and El Ghazi.

Watkins is a frustrating assets. He is on 6 goals and 4 assists for the season but should have more given the chances he has been afforded. This season he is 7th among strikers for xG with 8.03 but he has underperformed here just scoring the 6 times. Fortunately, Dean Smith is standing by him and he provides a nice cheap option. Lastly, we know how strong all Villa’s defensive assets are, keeping 8 clean sheets in 15 games. All are good picks, but sneaking into my radar is Konsa. 2 goals from 12 starts and he is back from injury, he is a nice differential.

Others team with good fixtures to watch out for in FPL:

FPL Fixtures Palace one to target

I also like Crystal Palace’s(WHU, WOL, new, lee, BUR, bha) and Fulham’s bha, wba, LEI, WHU, eve) fixtures. Mitchell is back to cheers us up with a budget-friendly option. Although they have only kept 3 clean sheets all season, 2 of them have come in their last 3 games. Kind fixtures and a bargain price makes Mitchell appealing. On the other end, Zaha is their talisman bagging 8 of their 22 goals this season. He is 7th among midfielders for xGI this season with 7.96. He should have a bit of fun over the next month.
While Fulham are steadily improving and now have the fixtures to pick up a few results. Cavaleiro looks to be getting in all the right places, shooting 3 times against Chelsea the weekend and having 1 big chance despite playing with 10 men. However, his finishing is poor. He and Lookman provide
cheap differentials with kind fixtures. While at the back they are looking a lot more assured, but it is probably not worth a transfer.

So long, farewell

Liverpool

FPL Fixtures Farwell salah?

Fixtures: tot, whu, BHA, MCI, lei, EVE

Last time I wrote this article I spoke about Liverpool’s kind FPL fixtures (WBA, new, sou, – , MUN & BUR). Yet they only managed to pick up 3 points and score 1 meager goal! They still have Burnley to play. But if I don’t see a major improvement here, I will be keen to spend elsewhere. In Salah’s last 4
matches he has had just 1 shot on target and created 4 chances. While Mane only the other flank has only fared slightly better with 2 and 6 respectfully.
It is not like me to say this, but I would happily sell Salah. However, not being a fan of hits and as I’d likely downgrade him significantly (maybe to Grealish) I would like 2 free transfers to fully invest that free cash. So Salah gets a stay of execution for 1 game and then likely 2 more (for my team) as he then faces West ham and Brighton.

Tottenham

FPL Fixtures Waht to do with Son and Kane

Fixtures: LIV, bha, CHE, WBA, mci, whu

It is very hot and cold for Spurs in the next 6, with each difficult match being followed by a nice one. If you are still on Son and Kane I would be in no rush to move them on, but if I had to keep one it’d be Son. His ferocity on the counter-attack and Kane’s tendency to drop deep against big teams
makes Son dangerous regardless of the opposition. Against the big guns (Arsenal, Liverpool, Chelsea and the two Manchester clubs) this season he has scored 5 goals and racked up 2 assists.

Arsenal

FPL Fixtures Arsenal players to look out for?

Fixtures: sou, MUN, wol, avl, LEE, MCI

No easy games here for Arsenal, although there is some hope from these fixtures – particularly Leeds at home. We have seen the big clubs pound Leeds in these ties. If I had Arsenal assets I would hold them. If not, the fixtures may be enough to keep me off investing until my next wildcard ahead of the GW26 double. Although the way they are going it is hard to look past Smith-Rowe, Holding and Saka.
