FPL GW2 Captain Picks ahead of GW2 Deadline | ALLABOUTFPL

FPL is back and the first GW of this season got over successfully. There were some surprises and a few shocks too. This month will see the teams try to transition their squads to balance to the tight schedule while maximizing their performance. There is definitely bound to be more surprises and exciting action coming along with the transfer window open too. To see who to give the armband to, let’s look at the Top 5 captain picks for FPL GW2

FPL GW2 Captaincy Poll:

1. Aubameyang vs West Ham (H)

FPL GW2 Captain pick Aubameyang
Auba is the most popular captain pick this week. Auba scored 15 goals against teams in the bottom half last season and is up against a troubled west ham

Aubameyang was one of the highest scorers of the game last season and this year, he is classified as a midfielder! His signing of the contract at Arsenal is not only good news for Arsenal fans but also to us fellow FPL managers as he is a very reliable option as a Captain with higher potential for points.

Last GW he showed us how reliable he can be by scoring a good goal in what was a comfortably dominating performance by Arsenal and especially the attacking department. With 3 shots and all 3 of them on target last game, he’ll be facing a defensively weak West Ham at home and will take full advantage of that. With ownership of 46.3%, he’s the second most owned in the game and definitely a good, safe shout for FPL GW2 captain.

2. Richarlison vs West Brom (H)

Richarlison FPL GW2 Captain pick
Richarlison ⚽

Everton put on a good show against Spurs and their new signings gave the midfield a much-needed boost to their attacking scope. Though Richarlison’s strike partner Dominic Calvert Lewin scored the winning goal, Richy was very involved and missed a clear scoring/assisting chance too. He is owned by 10.7% of managers and is a very good differential option.

West Brom were poor against leicester in GW1!

He had an Expected Goal percentage (xG) of 0.83 against Spurs and that is a great number. It shows his high chance of being involved in the goals. Meanwhile, West Brom conceded 13 shots and 4 big chances in their last game against Leicester and this is a great chance for Everton to capitalize and take 3 points. Richarlison looked lively and will be a great choice as the season progresses.

3. Martial vs Crystal Palace (H)

FPL GW2 Captain pick Anthony Martial
Tony Martial to continue from where he left last season?

Antony Martial was on fire for United last season and looked like a different player in his lone striker role. He’s improved his numbers, hold up play, and has been very good in linking up with fellow stars Bruno, Rashford and Greenwood. With an xG of 13.36 and xA of 6.82 for the season, he shattered the expected numbers with an impressive 17 goals and 9 assists.

Though he’s classified as a forward this season, his form in the latter part of last season, especially with Bruno Fernandes behind him has been amazing and he can be expected to score 20+ goals this season. He faces a defensively weak Crystal Palace and United will look to go all guns blazing for their opening fixture in this season’s PL. With just 16% of the managers owning him, he’ll be a decent differential option at such an early point in the season.

4. Vardy vs Burnley (H)

FPL GW2 Captain pick Jamie Vardy
Vardy started his season with a brace against WBA

Last season’s golden boot winner Jamie Vardy had a great run and a lot of managers are banking on him to replicate his scoring form. With an xG of 20.03 last season, he ended up with 23 goals and 7 assists overall! He scored 23 goals from 43 shots on target which is great accuracy and is a very reliable number

Though Burnley had a defensively great season, with Pope missing out the golden glove by 1 CS, Vardy’s home record might be of bad news to the Burnley team. With 12 goals and 5 assists at home and ownership of 23.4%, he can give the team a good boost and we also know he is on penalties, which was evident from the last game where he converted 2/2 from the spot. Vardy is surely a very good pick for the FPL GW2 armband.

5. Mo Salah vs Chelsea (A)

FPL GW2 Captain pick Mo salah
Salah was unstoppable against Leeds in GW1

Mo Salah had a great opening fixture and scored his and the league’s first hattrick against a formidable Leeds side. He’s been performing at the highest level for 3 seasons and has started off the 4th with a banger of a performance. He was the highest-scoring player last GW with 20 points and the people who captained him got lucky.

He’s always shown up against his former side Chelsea and it is important to take note that Chelsea do not have Thiago Silva or Ben Chilwell in their squad and they’ll be playing with the backline of last season’s which was criticized heavily for leaking goals. the defending champions already faced a lot of slack for a narrow 4-3 win against Leeds and will look to use this Chelsea game to boost confidence and approach the rest of the league on a high note. Hopefully, Salah comes around for 2 games in a row and gives us good returns
